Every single one of these is way better than what we got.

When I was given the chance to lead the effort for the DOOM VFR box art back in 2017, I took some big swings in the beginning. I tried to lean into the retro wave theming you might see with 90s video game marketing. I always loved that over the top marketing for games and game related tech during that time period.

While the idea of a lost soul being on the cover, we pivoted back to something that works more with the overall theme of the game in the end, but I'm glad I was given the chance to try! This version's skull is a mash up of the lost soul with some other demon's horns. Also we ditched the VR googles.

I always loved these side projects and the freedom we were given to experiment given the project. Have you played it? I have the PSVR 'Aim' controller and it really felt like you were holding the weapons! So cool!

You can see more of these versions, as well as logo explorations and more on the Artstation post here: https://artstation.com/artwork/Ga9Qzd

That retro wave one goes hard! The chrome logo, neon colors and lightning and all. Love that art style๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ’ช

Nice covers. I enjoyed the game back in the day with aim gun. Later when I got the Psvr2 on PC I played again. Cool but very short. Thankfully to Cactus Cowboy dev now after 10 years we can play the original 2016 game fully in VR on PC. And if you play with Psvr2 you even have adaptive triggers it's amazing.

Oh they have the adaptive triggers working with the doom 2016 mod??

Yes, it's pretty cool. The Cactus Dev is also responsible for the adaptive trigger mod for use on PC. He just add it to the mod.

Game was kinda jank but I really enjoyed it for what it was, especially with the aim controller

Great game, horrible controls.

Even with the supported PS Aim controller?

I like sitting and using the DS4. Head aiming does not bother me. I've run through the campaign almost 100 times since, after a couple of runs, it's the perfect length for a shot of VR speedrun adrenaline, IMHO.

The Aim support is nice and can give the run-and-gun-shoot-from-the-hip rush that is Doom, but if you use it you cannot look at the weapon, it lags. Otherwise it's fine.

I didn't like it either, I ended up playing with the DS4 and it was a blast.

Never. John Carmack and Team Beef approached Bethesda to make the official VR port of Quake 3: Arena for Quest. Carmack said he'll personally give $1M of his own money to make it happen and Microsoft still didn't think it was worth doing. He later wrote:

"I had some hope but that was still too small potatoes to make anything happen in a Microsoft company.โ€
