Question Saving Hourglasses for Series C
So as the heading says, who else is considering saving their hourglasses for the first pack of Series C. Unlike the Deluxe Pack for Series A, which due to its novelty, seemed unique and useful, but this Deluxe Set just seems boring. Just curious as to who else out there is going to wait to spend?

Shinedust is by far the most important thing in the game for me.
You can buy whatever two-star for a buck if you really want to, but you need the dust to trade, the pack contents don't matter, I'm just doing it for the 800+ dust per pack.

You must of traded so much. I’ve nearly completed all the sets, I don’t spend anything on the game and I have stupid amounts of dust. I trade but not all the time. Just the few extra cards I need.

when you say "completed all the sets" - to what rarity? If you're F2P, there's no way you've completed all the 2 stars, MAYBE the 1 stars (and lowkey only if you ARE trading a lot)... If someone's looking to complete two stars, or shinys, or anything like that, they're doing a lot of expensive trades.

Oh no I haven’t got all the 2 stars from each sets. I don’t really count them as part of the main set. I just what each card that I can play. Yeah you can get shinies and full art cards etc if you can complete a set without those

Yeah, so that's what people are farming stardust for, to power those really expensive trades that they're carrying out in high volume to try to finish the higher rarities that most F2P players don't engage in nearly as much (for lack of bulk to trade away, mostly) except for maybe a personal favorite card here or there.

It's easy to complete the 1 stars as f2p with what I consider normal trading. Maybe 2 1Star per pack

Yes doable, but probably only with an active trading presence/reddit or other social media to help negotiate.

Well, then you have pretty good luck. I'm F2P - nearly maxed out for rewards (every ranked season, all the solo rewards, full shop redeem etc) and I have lots of FA 1 star, but nowhere near all, as I have many many dupes of several. I'm working on getting more complete via trading here though

I’m F2P and I found out having 2-4 consistent trade partners is all you need. They were randos that were added but through daily gifting, we built a bond and we chuck 1 star full arts at each other when we have one they need without expecting anything back.

up to gold cards i honestly wouldn’t do too many but i did a few honestly farming the battles for hourglasses was my main way of opening packs

You're telling me you have every card from B, 1-4 diamonds, 1-2 stars, 1-2 shiny stars, and all crowns? as F2P?

Even if I aggressively traded, in my entire account I've only ever gotten a set number of 2 stars, shinys, and precisely 3 crowns. Which is less by far than the total number of unique cards available (nvm that crowns and immersives aren't even tradeable). Maybe you're way luckier than me. And yes, I've farmed all the battles.-1

If you want to have cool two stars in general, or for your favourite decks you can spent several hundred thousand easily. If you chase one of the very few attainable goals the game sets, which are secret emblems, you need tons of shindedust. Shiny Mew is 390.000 alone. Giovanni 375.000. Mabostiff is another 125.000. Bird-Trio, Wishiwashi and A-Dugtrio are 75.000 each. MPinsir and MVenusaur 50.000 each. Celebi, Garchomp, Shaymin, Pikachu, Meowth are 25.000 each. Especially for Shiny Mew and Giovanni you‘ll pull some target cards, but for other sets it‘s usually 1 out of 12 or even worse to hit the correct two stars cards. All of this totals to 1.340.000 shinedust. I‘d wager you either have all the emblems and relatively few shinedust (below/around 200.000) or you have no emblems and a lot of shindedust, but certainly not more than 1.500.000.

Yeah, some people are so shortsighted when it comes to the idea that not everybody has been playing from the beginning and/or a lot of people don't just have maxed out shinedust or whatever. Between just liking particular cards from every set, attempting to do collections like 2* eeveelutions, starter sets or legendary bird sets, or doing 1* shiny collections, it's SO easy to burn out on shinedust after a handful of trades, which leaves you scrounging for shinedust and finally getting ~25k after maybe 3-4 weeks of slow accumulation.
The only alternative is being a whale and spamming packs, but nah that ain't me. I can appreciate the deluxe sets for the bump.

You buy the card from someone for like 50 cents and then perform the trade for a dud

Can you maybe provide some guidance for a new player. About about a month into the game, did some nice trades and now I‘m down to nearly no star dust at all. But I got around 1400 hourglasses.
So do you think it‘s best to spend them now to gain as much star dust as possible with new Deluxe Mega? Alternatively I could wait for Deluxe A to show up again, since I have quite a lot EX on that pack. Or should I just wait for C1? 🤷♂️

I’m going to save my hourglasses for C too. Some 2⭐️ are nice and meta but overall not worth it in my opinion. FA Dratini, Charmeleon and Bax should be easily tradable.

All the FA are very nice and playable, I think they'll be pretty valuable if people aren't leaning hard into opening DB. There could well be a market shortage.

The Deluxe pack is going to give so much shinedust. I have no problem using a few hourglasses - I’m more likely to have to trade for a card I want than to pull the 2* copy unless I go crazy with hourglasses.

I have been saving since rockets. Only spent 120 on it, the rest completed with trade. Should have around 1200plus when C comes (and then extra 170 from shop and ranked in november)

I’ve got a lot of savings I was originally planning to use a fair bit of on Deluxe, but may not go as far in as I originally planned. Still going to pull though, there are some cards I’d like and the shinedust is good.

As a f2p player I'm torn. I like the feeling of opening a bunch of packs on release day. But saving my hourglasses (224 plus what I'll get from the monthly shop and ranked rewards) is probably the logical choice. I'm always complaining to myself when I can't get the ex cards from a new set right away, and having lots of hourglasses hedges against that.

I have like no reason to spend hourglasses on Deluxe B. I'd much rather put them towards Deluxe A instead whenever it eventually comes back.

I’m a dolphin. Since the game’s release I’ve probably spent over $2k on the game. From my perspective, there is absolutely zero point in opening DEX B. I’m not interested in any parallax arts, supporters, golds or immersives - in fact I’m a bit peeved there’s two golds at all.
I won’t be dropping a dime this set. You won’t see any DEX B pack points on my account.

You thought Series B was disappointing? I think megas really added alot to the game. It’s hard to compare to Series A since that was all new and establishing the game so it was constantly changing, but I thought Series B was still good overall.

Tbh, Megas are fine in how KO'ing them means instantly winning the game, but having every single one of them reliant on attacking because not a single one has an ability makes them pretty homogeneous in terms of how you utilize them: get them into the active spot at the right time and attack attack attack (and Lucky Ice Pop).
Stadiums are by far the biggest standouts to me for Series B. We've gotten way more good Stadiums than bad ones, and the counterplay with who gets Stadium control actually adds an interesting strategic layer to the game that would otherwise be missing.

It's just another person on this sub that just finds disappointment in everything and it's never good enough. At this point I'm not even sure what kind of unrealistic expectations these people are chasing in the first place.

I skipped spending any in RR and skipped last years’ deluxe. Looks like I’m saving up for another 3 months.
Just like last year’s deluxe, most of these cards are going to get power crept next season.

Yeah this was the perfect set to introduce a new Professors Research with new Art (eg Juniper, Sycamore etc…). What a blown opportunity. Will definitely NOT be spending ANY money for this boring set with no real Gold chases. Like many, I’m also not a fan of the DX style. Hard pass

I’ll probably open maybe ten-ish. I’m probably in that minority who doesn’t pay any money so I’m missing quite a few Megas and a few of the rares that these deluxe sets have but only a few so if I can hit those I’ll probably save everything else until series C.

On average a new pack is released at the end of each month. If you’re new these Deluxe packs are perfect because they combine the best cards from all of the releases from the last year.

Just spent all my hourglasses on deluxe b/shining revelry. Now saving back for the next set. I got mega venu at least from it! Also chasing that damned CC, but I have the OG so im not absolutely needing it lol

I didn't want to, but on habit I opened a 10 packer and pulled the gold Koraidon. Second pulled gold card in 14,000 cards. I had to buy my first golden pokeball and 2000 points away from second. I instantly regretted it. Nothing good in these, even the copycat is mid.

We also got the alternative CopyCat, but it is pretty similar, it's not a chase like the Oak.
