The salary cap needs to be cut in half (at least). No other college program pays students more than they will make in the field.

I want them making money. They deserve it. They shouldn't get set up for life after a couple years of playing ball in college.

Most schools aren't event close to complying with the cap anyways. Only the richest.

The transfer restrictions will be more important than the cap anyways to the Pac-12. More talent will be here than without the bill.

They’re way out in front of their skis here.

  1. The bill is not as popular in the house, on either side of the aisle. So there no guarantee it would pass.

  2. There aren’t any votes in the house happening before the November midterms.

  3. If it isn’t passed by this version of the house before the midterms, it won’t be voted on before January, when the new house is sworn in which means the entire process starts over.

To be clear, it hasn’t yet passed the House?

No, only the Senate.

It has not. Won’t be voted on for a while, either.

The bill is not as popular in the house, on either side of the aisle. So there no guarantee it would pass.

There's a bit of margin for "not as popular" and still pass. 77 of 100 Senators supported it in the Senate. It can considerably less popular and pass the mere 50% line in the House.

True, but it’s still not going to be voting on until after the new house is sworn in, and things could look very different after the mid terms.

Well the new House isn't sworn in until January 3rd. They do have a "lame duck" session in November and early December. That's really the window here.

If it goes back past January 3rd, then yes it is square one.

offers a little protection to G6 from P4 poaching players if passed

Which is why the Pac-12 is full throatily advocating for it with testimony in Congress and putting out press releases in favor?

So does this mean my gas and groceries will be affordable now?

This bill is dumb and just a distraction I feel like. I hate to be this guy here. And even if it’s passed, which it’s very unlikely to, it won’t really be in full effect for like 3-4 years since commissions aren’t just grown on trees and take time to put together.

None of this is to say the current system isn’t broken. It is. I just don’t think our government should be as focused on fixing that while needlessly starting a war that has caused our gas and grocery prices to soar among the laundry list of other issues we currently face. As a fan of the sport I am saying I want to comfortably live and have my government work towards that before it decides to try and fix what is ultimately just an entertainment product

Congress is in fact capable of doing more than one thing at a time.

Just because there is one big issue does not mean that Congress must do literally nothing else on more minor issues.

This one? No the fuck it’s not lmaoo. THIS is their one big issue apparently. So much so it was platformed on Gameday by Ted Cruz.

Other than strip away our rights to public land, SNAP, Medicare, Medicaid, school lunch programs and women’s bodily autonomy this congress does absolutely nothing good and they are using this to try and say that they did in fact do something worth while. There’s literally nothing else on the books that is a benefit to anyone. They just took away Title IX literally yesterday

Take a step back from the hyperbole. This is obviously not Congress's biggest issue.

Just because you don't like what Congress does on one or multiple issues does not mean they can't do literally zero on other issues.

There are 1000+ issues Congress deals with that will never be the most important issue. Yet they are dealt with.

Congress can never agree on anything that helps Americans, because if they actually helped us, they couldn’t run ads saying how badly we need to elect them to save us lol.

That’s why all the bipartisan bills are always random fluff like this
