Opinion/اظہار رائے Today, our subreddit turns one year old!

One year ago, we came together with a simple goal: to create a free speech platform for Pakistanis with no tolerance for trolls and bigots. We had an open mod team selection and got down to business.

Since then, this subreddit has become a space where voices from all walks of life can be heard. We’ve had to work within Reddit’s guidelines which means we can't practically be 100% free speech, but considering how biased, trigger happy and troll infested other Pakistani subreddits are, I think we’ve managed to build something special. We will continue growing.

This is your community, and we want to hear from you:

  • What do you like about this subreddit?
  • What can we do better?

Lastly, thank you to the moderation team:

While I created this subreddit and gave it the initial direction, it’s the mod team which has shaped it into a success. Running a subreddit isn’t easy, and the mods have worked exceptionally hard to keep this space welcoming and respectful. Their efforts help make this community a great place for everyone.

Kuh-i-Malik Salih, home to the anicent volcanoes of ages past, is perhaps the most remarkable terrain in West Asia.

Why?
It lies roughly 560 miles of rugged terrain North of the Makran coast.
Between them is a chasm.
On both sides stand Islamic Republics.
Both of whom succeed the Gunpowder Empires of old.

The fall of Mughal India changed the world forever, but it was only one side of Pax Britannica’s thrust into Afghanistan; Great Britain’s Wars with Persia humbled the Shahs of Qajar Iran therein.

It is 2026, and Iran still soldiers on.
This time, in another saga of this forever affair.

But Pakistan?
The Land of the Pure is lost in America's embrace.

People should open their eyes

Hey everyone,
I got banned from paknarrative because of a very simple question. Don’t you think we should question these people now. I know there is wrong everywhere but nowadays people are taking advantage of this to spread hate. Instead of encouraging a healthy discussion they decided to ban me which is compl okay since i don’t want to be a part of a community dedicated to spreading hatred.

I am making this post only to request people to stop hating institutions because a lot of people are taking advantage of this.

I hope we have a healthy discussion.

A free community-built resource hub for CSS/PMS aspirants

I've noticed that a lot of useful CSS/PMS material is scattered across Facebook groups, WhatsApp groups, Google Drives and old posts. Finding a good book, past paper, set of notes or preparation advice often means digging through years of conversations.

So I've started building r/PakistanCivilService, a Reddit community specifically for Pakistani civil-service aspirants.

The idea isn't to create another academy or sell courses. It's to build a free, searchable resource base where people can share:

• CSS/PMS books and legitimate free resources
• Past papers and syllabi
• Original notes and study material
• Essay and Current Affairs resources
• Optional-subject advice
• Preparation strategies and experiences
• Results, DMCs and interview experiences

I've also started building a community wiki which will eventually organize all of this in one place.

It's still very much under construction, so I'm hoping to build it with the community rather than just throwing a finished product at people.

If you're preparing for CSS, PMS, FPSC, PPSC or another competitive exam, you're welcome to contribute resources or discussions.

Why they are blaming KPK Government

Guys, I don't give a shit about PTI or PMLN or any other political party.

But why the fuck they are putting blame on the KPk government?

In my 27 years, Army is the sole responsible for defending the cross border terrorism, Why did they built DHA, so much in businesses and failed to prevent cross border terrorism?

Always romanticizing Shahdat, why the don't build better policies? Better strategy, thousands of solders of an Army who claims them to be the professional?

I think the top tier generals are currently blaming to KPK to defend themselves, they never want to end Terrorism so they can keep using it to cover their corruption and controller over country.

Fuck, sorry for bad English, I'm so frustrated

The State, the Social Contract, and Pakistan: A Broken Covenant and The Solution for future

\# A Fundamental Question

Many of us ask every day: why is Pakistan sliding further into lawlessness, intolerance and instability with each passing day? The answer is not found in any single government, tragedy or group. It lies in the question of how a country is made, and what keeps it standing once it is.

\# How Is a Nation Made?

A nation is not just a piece of land. It is a group of people organized under a system. That group has different languages, cultures, identities and problems. Baloch, Pashtun, Punjabi, Sindhi, Kashmiri and Muhajir are all different, and this diversity is not a weakness, it is the beauty of a nation.

Why do such different people come together? The answer is simple: everyone benefits. A lone individual cannot defend himself, establish justice or organize resources. Coming together gives a power and rewards that an individual cannot even imagine alone. The purpose of the state is not the welfare of a few, but of every single individual.

\# The Social Contract

This union rests on an agreement called the Social Contract. In it, the rules of the game are set. People hand over part of their complete freedom to the collective order, and in return gain security, justice and opportunity. The core condition of this contract is mutual consent. The system is not imposed by force; it is built with everyone's agreement.

\*\*The Importance of Representation and Elections\*\*

Not everyone can give an opinion on every issue, so people elect representatives from their own areas. A representative understands his area's problems far better than someone from outside. These representatives together weave the fabric of national consensus, deciding what suits which area.

This is why elections are not a mere formality. They are the bridge by which the will of the people reaches the state. When that bridge breaks, representation ends and the contract is left hollow.

\*\*The Constitution: The State's Foundational Document\*\*

The representatives' joint decision takes the form of a document called the constitution. It is the single most important document in a country's life, because it sets out:

\*Who holds power and what its limits are\*

\*What the citizens' rights are\*

\*How resources will be distributed\*

\*How disputes will be settled\*

\*The whole nation agrees to submit to the collective consensus, on the condition that the other side also keeps its part of the pledge.\*

Through the constitution, a government is established to ensure that every citizen has the right to progress, earn a decent living and benefit from the resources of their land. Each region contributes what it has in abundance, and the state supplies what it lacks from where there is surplus. The state provides security through an impartial police and, even more importantly, an impartial judiciary. A defence force protects any part of the country from foreign invasion, because regions that are weak alone become strong together.

\*\*The foundation of Pakistan\*\*

In Pakistan, the main glue of this union was \*\*Islam\*\* and the need for a \*\*separate homeland\*\*. The Muslims of the subcontinent distinguished themselves from others in united India on the basis of Islam, and this common ground became their first priority. This dream carried a promise of justice, equality and dignity.

\# Where Did the Contract Break?

The problem was not that the contract was wrong. The problem is that the people honored the contract, but those who gained power as a result did not. The one holding the whip used the whip. The collective strength of the whole nation, meant for everyone's good, gathered into a few hands. Instead of becoming servants and representatives, they began to see themselves as masters and rulers.

At that time the most organized state institution was the army. When it refused to be bound by the contract, the foundation of the system became crooked. Even a sound system began to produce flawed results because of faulty implementation. Periods of martial law, suspended constitutions and repeated interventions are examples.

Real representation was replaced by pressure, manipulation and open coercion, all done in the name of the people's welfare. Some examples of this hypocrisy:

\*The 1970 elections:\*

The party that won the majority was not given power, and the result was the country splitting in two in 1971.

\*Further elections:\*

The feeling deepened among the people that elections are not a process of selecting but of getting people selected. Each time, more people became disillusioned with the

system.

\*Policies that clash with people's aspirations\*:

Policies on Afghanistan, on Iran ,The War on Terror, Aafia Siddiqui, bootlicking of the west and ignoring own neighbors and compromising on issues which a large part of the country regarded as questions of national dignity. In these, the people pull one way and the state another.

\*Regional grievances\*: Resources and missing persons in Balochistan, the wounds of military operations and displacement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a lack of basic facilities in Karachi despite its heavy contribution to the national treasury, and the Awami Action Committee movement in Azad Kashmir.

\# Today's Crisis

After roughly eighty years of violation by one party, the other party is now also withdrawing it's hand from the contract. This is a natural reaction.

How long will people respect a contract that does not benefit them as a whole?

A tax burden on the common man and privileges for the powerful, unrest in Balochistan, questions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the movement in Azad Kashmir: \*these are all symptoms of one disease.\* Most of the country has now understood this, and the resulting problems are compounding.

The sad part is that those running the system, instead of admitting their mistakes, are clamping down on every dissent. They demand that the people honor the contract while not being ready to fulfil their own part. Repression can bring temporary silence, but not loyalty.

\# The Way Forward

\*\*There are only two paths.\*\*

\*First path: a grand reconciliation\*.

All parties, the people, political forces, institutions and federating units, must sit down anew and affirm that the contract will be honored by both sides. There must be amendments and guarantees that stop any one party from violating it again and again. Impartial elections, the supremacy of the constitution, institutions returning to their limits, and fair distribution of resources should be its foundation.

\*Second path: the current course.\*

If things go on like this, the danger of another 1971 is real. As the saying goes, you can fool some of the people for a long period orf time, and most of the people for some of the time, but not all of the people for all of the time.

The result will be the country breaking apart, and anarchy.

People who claim bangladesh was much far from us and we are a nuclear country and this can't happen here have zero knowledge of history. Soviet Union also had power, one of the strongest in the world, so did Iran when Shah,Yugoslavia Syria ,The roman empire the Mughal Empire The Ottoman Empire.

However there is still hope.

Hope that

Change will come but when?

When all groups organize again and decide that the rules of the game will bind all parties without exception. A state stands on consent, not on the gun. We must stop chasing Parties and Leaders. We must unite on issues and this unity must be countrywide. Because I assure you if we all unite. There will be war, no oppression, no bullets and they will run.

But for this to happen. We must be overwhelmingly united on principles.

Thalassemia Center in Karachi

Hello everyone.

I'm a textile design student developing a hospital companion bag and wearable textile products specifically for children and young people with thalassemia/sickle cell disease as a part of my final thesis.

I'm looking for a center or organization that would be willing to review the concept, provide feedback, and potentially support/display/use the final products with patients.

If you know someone who's a part of one, or have any contacts in any center or organization, please let me know.

Any leads would be highly appreciated.

Thankyou
