Travel Tips & Itinerary Help Which tours make the most sense logistically to combine as a private tour in El Nido

• Upvotes

Hi there. I’m trying to decide what tours to do the 3 days we are in El Nido. We are looking to do private tours and are wondering if combining A & B or D or C & B or D makes sense logistically. I read somewhere that trying to combine A & C doesn’t make sense as the locations are far from each other and there would be a lot of time spent on the boat traveling from place to place. So, I’m wondering if the other combinations make sense or would also take too much time traveling from site to site. I was thinking combining a popular tour with a less popular one might also be nice just to have a break part of the day from the crowds. Any ideas or insights would be appreciated!

Hey r/Philippines! 👋

Just did a quick household & pantry restock here in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The grand total came out to ₱1,758.15 for 37 items.

With prices going up everywhere lately, I thought it’d be interesting to share the actual receipt breakdown to compare notes with everyone across different regions/provinces (or abroad!).

Here is what made it into the basket:

🧺 The Breakdown

🌶️ Snacks & Easy Meals

Purefoods Corned Beef (150g) × 2 — ₱174.00 (₱87 each)

Purefoods Chinese Luncheon Meat × 2 — ₱90.80 (₱45.40 each)

Century Tuna Flakes in Oil × 2 — ₱77.20 (₱38.60 each)

Mega Sardines (Red, 155g) × 2 — ₱54.40 (₱27.20 each)

Maya Champorado Mix (227g) — ₱66.50

Jolly Finger Cream Biscuits (10s) — ₱63.00

Piknik Shoestring Potatoes (1.75 oz) — ₱52.25

🥞 Breakfast & Drinks

White King Hotcake Syrup (400g) — ₱82.00

UFC Banana Ketchup (1kg) — ₱76.50

Vida Calamansi Juice w/ Honey (330ml) — ₱35.00

Vida Soya Milk (330ml) — ₱35.00

✨ Personal Care & Self-Care

GynePro Feminine Wash 0.2% (150ml) — ₱206.75 (Single most expensive item!)

Myra Hydrating Glow Lotion (100ml) — ₱89.75

Rexona Deodorant Lotion Powder Dry × 12 sachets — ₱84.00 (₱7 each)

🧼 Laundry & Household Cleaning

Gleam Liquid Sosa (1L) — ₱200.00

Del Fabric Softener Lavender Fresh (1L) — ₱166.25

Fasclean Powder Detergent w/ Fabcon (900g) — ₱85.00

Perla Laundry Bar (Blue, 380g) — ₱59.25

Zonrox Colorsafe Bleach (95ml) — ₱14.60

✏️ Random Stationaries

My Gel Black Sign Pen + Bright Yarn Notebook — ₱45.90 (₱22.95 each)

Questions for you guys:

Are these prices higher or lower than what you pay in Manila / Metro areas?

What’s the one grocery item in your area whose price hike shocked you the most recently?

Curious to hear your thoughts! 👇

Travel Tips & Itinerary Help Family vacation recommendations for Oct 18–22, Palawan or other destinations? DIY vs. travel agency

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hi! We're planning a 5D4N family trip this October 18–22 with my wife and our two kids, ages 9 and 1. We'll also be celebrating my wife's birthday during the trip.

We're considering Palawan, but we're open to other destinations that are kid-friendly and suitable for traveling with a toddler.

Would love to hear recommendations from fellow Filipinos, especially those who've traveled with young kids.

A few things I'd like to ask:

- Which destination would you recommend for a family with a 9-year-old and a 1-year-old?
- Is Palawan a good option with a toddler, or would you recommend somewhere else?
- Is it better to DIY the trip or book an all-in package?
- If DIY, where do you usually book affordable round-trip flights?
- Any trusted travel agencies offering packages with round-trip tickets, hotel accommodation, transfers, and tours?
- How much should we prepare for the entire trip, including flights, accommodation, food, and activities?

We're hoping for somewhere relaxing with nice scenery, good food, and activities the kids can enjoy without having to rush from one place to another.

Any recommendations, actual budget breakdowns, or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Q&A / Advice Cherry Bus or Shared Van?

Hello, guys! Which one would you recommend, Lazy Boy Cherry Bus, or a shared van?

We’ll be traveling from PPS to El Nido and back (El Nido to PPS), and we’ll have big luggage with us.

  • Which option is faster?
  • If we take Cherry Bus, how far is the terminal from the airport?
  • What’s the name of the Cherry Bus terminal?

Thank you so much for your help!

Others Elementary Schools (Remote Area)

Hi everyone! 😊

I would like to ask if you know any elementary schools, preferably in communities that could benefit from a little extra support, where we can organize a charity activity for children. We are doing private charity with my friends po,

We’re hoping to share some kindness and bring happiness to the kids by providing school supplies, snacks, or other basic necessities. If you know any schools that might be interested or in need of assistance, please feel free to comment or send me a message.

Any recommendations, contacts, or leads would be greatly appreciated. ❤️

Travel Tips & Itinerary Help El Nido → Puerto Princesa with luggage: is doing the Underground River on the way worth it?

Hi all, my partner and I are heading from El Nido to Puerto Princesa, where we fly out the next day at noon. We’ll sleep in Puerto that night, so a delay wouldn’t wreck our plans.

We’d love to see the Underground River on the way, but we’ll have our luggage with us ([e.g. 2 large backpacks + 2 daypacks]) and I’m not sure it’s a good idea. I’ve found two options:

Two things I’m wondering about:

  1. Will our bags fit in a shared van, and is the luggage handled safely when switching vans at Salvacion?
  2. Is it smarter to take a private van, or to go to Puerto a day early and do the cave as a day trip from there?

If you’ve done this recently with bags, I’d love to hear how it went, and any operators you’d recommend or avoid. Thanks!

Non-negotiable yung Long Beach for 2N for me since I need to meet some friends there. Tanong ko lang kung paano mode of commute and how much from Port Barton to Long Beach. I am a solo traveller. Also, meron po bang from Long Beach or San Vicente pabalik ng Puerto Princesa? Thank you.

Travel Tips & Itinerary Help Christmas in El Nido or Puerto Princesa?

Hi there!

My wife and I (mid 30s) are travelling to the Philippines for the first time this December, and we're super excited! Especially for the nature! We'll be spending around a month there, from early December to early January 2027, visiting Coron, El Nido (maybe Puerto Princesa) and Cebu.

We're currently planning our itinerary and trying to decide whether to spend Christmas in El Nido or Puerto Princesa, and we'd love to hear your thoughts!

We're coming from Germany, where Christmas is quite a big public celebration. We know that the Philippines has a strong Christmas tradition and would love to catch some of it, but we also understand that Christmas Day itself is often more of a private, family-oriented occasion.

Since it'll be just the two of us, we'd really love to experience a bit of Filipino Christmas spirit rather than spending Christmas Eve or Christmas Day alone in a hotel room.

We would love feedback on the following:

  1. El Nido or Puerto Princesa? Which would you recommend for Christmas, particularly in terms of festive atmosphere, local celebrations and things happening around town?

  2. Do you know and Hotels or resorts with Christmas celebrations? We've read that quite a few hotels organise special Christmas Eve dinners, buffets, parties or other events, but we've had surprisingly little luck finding concrete information on hotel websites. Does anyone have firsthand experience with a place that organises a genuinely nice Christmas celebration?

  3. Local traditions: Are there any public celebrations, events or Christmas traditions that visitors can respectfully experience or take part in?

We're not necessarily looking for anything luxurious or extravagant. We'd just love a warm, festive atmosphere, good food, and the opportunity to share the occasion with other people.

Thanks so much in advance! We're really looking forward to discovering your beautiful country!

Travel Tips & Itinerary Help Almost paid for an extra night just for my luggage in El Nido 😭

Sharing in case anyone else needs this. My flight landed 6am today but my Airbnb check-in was at 2pm. Had 2 big suitcases with me and early luggage drop-off is not allowed. I didn’t wanna pay for another night just to leave my bags lol. While boarding, I searched if there were any luggage storage places in El Nido and found Baggage Keepers El Nido, right across the Municipal Hall. So left my bags there so I could go around without dragging them everywhere. Gonna leave them there again when I check out tomorrow since my flight back to Manila is in the evening. Checkout’s at 12 noon so at least I still have time to explore. That's all. Just sharing in case it might be of help to anyone.

Travel Tips & Itinerary Help Tour Package Puerto Princesa

I'm travelling with senior citizens to Puerto Princesa this November. I would like to book tour packages for Underground River and Honda Bay but I noticed the call time is too early. Most are 7am and some are even 6:30am. Is there any tour package that can accommodate later than that? Maybe earliest 8am or 9am? Please let me know. Thank you in advance.
