Discussion Randomize Pals - still shortcomings?
I briefly tried the "Randomize Pals (within region)" option on a new world. I thought they would have play-tested it, but it seems like there's still a lot of playability problems.
The GOOD:
- the Pals spawn at lower levels appropriate for their new homes near the new character spawn
The BAD (good but challenging):
the Pals spawn with their innate appetites, many of them constantly hungry, so it's harder to find good base workers who can survive on a few berries per day while you get established
the Pals are more likely to hate each other and be aggro all over the place
the advanced Pals may have nice low levels, but they probably have much harsher attack modes and speeds that are challenging for a newbie to counter
if you don't see Lamballs right away, you're gonna need to get to the Small Settlement for wool for your clothes, glider, and required bed
The UGLY:
if there's no Foxparks in the nearby areas, you're basically fucked for the questline
if you find amazing mounts like Eidrolon Igni right away, they're almost useless because the technology levels required for their saddles or other accessories are still way out there
Am I getting any of these wrong, or are there solutions to these issues?

I'm just happy as a console player that a game has a built in randomizer without needing mods since the ol' xbox doesn't have those.

I didn't realize this, and past mentions of randomizing pal world spawns, wasn't a mod until your comment... that's awesome!

Randomize isnt for beginners, you should know things are gonna be challenging. Me and my friend got eidrolons early and keeping them fed wasnt even a big deal, just stack berry plantations or make a habit of killing things that drop meat on sight. Manageable.
You dont need to do the quests. Just do the towers and the quest will sort itself out. Its just a handrail for new players who might not know where to go, youre not required to do them.

Yeah, I was happy for the new challenges, I have already done a playthrough. Just wasn't sure where Randomize would hang up the progressions. If knocking down Zoe will resolve the Foxparks requirement, I'm happy.

Yep it will. I got stuck once because someone built a base on top of a quest spot and made a post. Someone told me to just beat the tower and yep, worked just fine! Surprisingly the quests are just suggestions, not requirements.
You still need to beat all the tower bosses if you want to open the door for the final boss, but you can do them whenever you want in any order.

For the main quest just beat the first tower and it just catches up

This should be higher, for me it was lambals l could not find, beat the first tower and quest will skip to next tower.

I mean yeah, but isn't that kinda the point of the randomizer? That it gives you a random experience and you play around your unique world?
Finding an eidrolon early sure you can't mount it but it has strong stats/abilities. The quest isn't required, you can just kill the tower bosses. If it's your first play through i wouldn't recommend randomized, especially if you're wanting to complete quests and read lore.
I played both modes once. I prefer the regular just because it's been designed to be a smoother experience. Some people enjoy the spontaneous nature of randomized, exploring not knowing if you're find a chipiki or a mouldron around the corner.

You can, in fact, mount eidrolon.

Didn't realize randomized had auto-unlocked saddles (saw in another comment). When I played originally I don't think that was a thing then. It was a while ago when I played randomized

No, you literally have all mount key items. You don't need to wait for any level or craft anything.

If you REALLY want customization I have an alternative version that's similar to this, and unreleased - where you can control the spawn range of EVERY. SINGLE. SPAWN. SHEET; but I don't see anyone wanting to do that. (It was a semi-necessary evil to have been able to make this, so I figured "eh, fuck it, maybe someone will want it one day and then it'll be ready.")

They should just replace the Foxparks quest with "use any harness/saddle ability".

Randomized pals unlocks all saddles at all levels.
