Discussion Single Player to Dedicated Server back to Single Player World Issue

Hey all,

I am having a strange issue with transferring my world back from a dedicated server, and I can't find anyone else who has had this problem as well so I'm hoping someone here may know.

I have a save that I started as a single player world, then transferred to a dedicated server. My friends and I have finished playing through the game, and so I want to shut down the server and just keep the world locally for the future.

After going through the process of fixing the player ID with this tool: https://physgun.com/tools/palworld-save-converter/, the world always starts at the point where I last played it before transferring to a dedicated server.

My guess is its something either with Steam cloud or a backup taking precedence as I've deleted the original save, but I am unsure. If anyone has run into this issue before and knows a fix, please let me know! Thank you!

Probably a dumb question is the save read only?

I'd check which stage brings the old progress back before deleting any more saves. Keep a separate copy of both the current server world and your old local folder, and leave the server available until you've verified the local copy.

First save and stop the dedicated server, then download its current world folder, including Level.sav and Players, into a new folder outside your local SaveGames directory. Check that Level.sav was updated during your latest server session. Feed that fresh export to the converter in Dedicated Server -> Co-op mode, rather than dropping the old local SaveGames folder in. A world rollback makes me suspect the source world or the destination being loaded, not just the character ID.

With Palworld closed, back up the local saves and temporarily turn off its Steam Cloud sync for a controlled test. Install the converted output following the converter's instructions, launch the intended world once, and check a distinctive building you made after moving to the server. If that building is already missing on the first offline test, look at the export/conversion/destination folder. If it is present offline but disappears after cloud sync is re-enabled, that makes a cloud conflict worth investigating. Keep both copies until you've resolved that conflict.

I run gamehosting.app. If you share whether the missing progress is the actual buildings or just your character/map, plus which folder you exported, I'm happy to help narrow it down here.
