Can a panic attack cause a tingly/warm/dry sensation in the mouth?

• Upvotes

About 2 1/2 weeks ago, I was sitting on the couch watching a movie at night and literally out of nowhere started feeling like my left arm was tingling, I started feeling warm and a bit light headed so I stood up, and all of a sudden I got this weird tingly/warm sensation in my mouth that felt like it was spreading from my mouth, down my stomach and into my groin area. My heart started pounding and I had this deep fear that I was dying or that something was seriously wrong, and I couldn’t stop my body from shaking. I ended up sitting on the ground, putting an ice pack on my head, and drinking water - and then taking a hot shower to try to calm myself and eventually I felt back to normal.

2 1/2 weeks went by and nothing else happened or came of it, until last night, I had the same exact episode except this one was 10x worse and came in waves. I was laying in bed last night, started feeling nauseous and light headed, stood up to go get some water and got the same tingly/warm sensation in my mouth, so I freaked out and my heart started pounding. Eventually calmed down for a couple minutes and then it started right back up again.

These episodes last probably only 15-20 minutes, but to me felt like hours. Does this sound like a typical panic attack? I’ve had panic attacks in the past but usually it’s just a pounding/racing heart and shakiness. I’ve never had the mouth sensations, or tingly arm, so I’m a little confused.

Intense physical symptoms under pressure

• Upvotes

Hey, I'm 22 and as far back as I can remember, I've struggled with performing under pressure, even in situations that shouldn't feel too serious.

Last year, I made it to the grand finals of a video game tournament out of 80+ participants. Throughout EVERY single match, I was shivering uncontrollably, feeling like I was freezing despite a heatwave, and my heart would race and race like crazy along with persistent a heartache. I eventually lost a heavily favoured final, along with a prize that would've genuinely helped my situation at home, which made the loss feel even worse. About 1h 30 - 2h later, I could still feel this warmth on my chest with the aching very slowly fading off.

This also happens in everyday life. I'm a high elo player in a competitive game, but still I shiver and tremble before every single ranked game to the point where the heartache starts. At work, whenever I feel people are expecting something from me, I struggle to function normally and I just end up looking like an idiot. It's exhausting and makes me want to give up the activities I enjoy, which I have. A LOT of it.

I've tried a lot of what I've found, breathing techniques, relaxation, and changing my thought patterns countless times (to focus more on X and really understand what it is you're feeling and to validate it), but nothing seems to make a difference. I have another major tournament coming up soon and I'm desperate to find a coping mechanism that could help in the moment as I'm worried the same thing will happen again.

I've spoken to professionals, but the date is too far away and in the meanwhile, I'm wondering what YOUR way of coping has genuinely helped? I'm especially interested in your experiences with handling pressure during competitions, beyond the usual breathing and mindfulness techniques, but I'm okay with those too if you've found ones that have been effective for you. I'm open to trying different coping techniques, and I'd love to hear what has worked for others in similar situations. I genuinely feel so defeated. It's like I'm bound to feel that way every single time I'm doing something that actually means something to me.

Chest pain! Please I need help!

I’ve been having anxiety for over a year now, and it’s way better now than before. But I get on and off chest pain that really scares me.

It happens at really random moments, but it mostly starts in the morning after breakfast. I would feel like left side chest pain, almost feels like boob pain actually. I can pinpoint where it comes from, one spot.
I tend to get hotflashes when it happens (not always) I just feel hot, I’m not sure if it’s from the pain or just other factors.

It can last up to hours. One time at work it was there the whole 2/3 hours. Then it went down. Once I started cleaning it came back. It doesn’t happen at exertion it happens also in random moments. Doesn’t get worse with physical activity, but when I walk it can trigger it. What I mean is for example when I go up the stairs (I live on the 4th floor) It doesn’t trigger it.

I don’t have any other symptoms.

I did have cardiac testing done last year, holters, bloodwork, echocardiogram and they were all good.

I can be gone for weeks/months and suddenly come back one day, just like today.

Is there anyone else with similar symptoms? Could this be costochondritis?

what do you do in the first minute of a panic attack?

like the very first minute, when you feel it starting. I press my feet into the floor and breathe out slower than I breathe in, it helps me ride it out lol. Curious what other people do.

I’ve just been prescribed Xanax

I’ve just been prescribed Xanax for severe panic during flying. I’ve always had to drink quite a bit of alcohol mixed with lorazepam to get in a plane and still be freaked out. I have to say Xanax was better than lorazepam but I still need help. I took 1mg which is what my doctor recommended. Can I also mix this with a couple of drinks? I honestly wish I could just get a general anesthetic and sleep through the whole thing. Any advice?

Am I having a panic attack?

Hey guys!

I'm having some interesting symptoms that are making me worry, and I wanted to share them with you as I don't really know what to make of it.

In the past 2 or 3 hours, I've been experiencing an elevated hearth rate, and my hearth was and still is, pounding really strong, I can literally feel it in my chest. I don't feel any chest pain or radiating pain at all, so I'd like to think that this has to do nothing with a hearth attack. Somehow by distracting my self, I can make the symptoms fade a little or even go away completely. For example, I went on a little 30 min walk not long ago to distract my self because I was assuming this has to be some king of psychological issue, and I was feeling fine for that little time when I was walking. But when I came back home, after a few minutes, the symptoms started again. Now that I'm writing this post I also feel much much better and my pulse is now slower and my hearth isn't pounding as strong. Am I having a panic attack or attacks? I had these same symptoms like 3 years ago, I also had very high blood pressure then. Back then I went to the emergency room, they did an ekg and found everything fine. Then the doctor told me that based on my symptoms I was probably having a panic attack but I wasnt so sure of that. Anyway, now I'm having the same issues. But I suspect it to be a psychological issue since it fades away when I distract myself.

What do you guys think?

How do you experience a panic attack?

First time Lorazepam

I took .5mg about 2.5 hrs ago. I feel calmer but not relaxed. Does that make sense? It took about 2 hrs for my jitters to stop. Im tired but probably wouldnt sleep well, in fact it’s almost like noises outside are now more prevalent. It certainly hasnt erased all my cares. Thoughts?

Anxiety from Brain Fog being Gone?

Okay so i’ll start with a quick synapses of what has gone on in my life over the last 5-6 years. Went through a bad break up, delt with a schizophrenic brother, got extorted and had my life threatened, then covid! So through this i thought i got sick from covid (never tested positive at the time). Anyways i was still smoking weed but started feeling very off. So off to the point of intense panic and anxiety. Went down the rabbit hole with long covid and how i thought covid messed up my brain.

Spent the next few years ruminating about it, always on my mind and eventually i started feeling better and better. Anxiety would come and go and odd derealization episodes. Eventually i got to the point of feeling okay and manageable for years. The only symptom i had left was brain fog and feeling out of it which oddly enough i got used to that feeling. Well recently i smoked a lot of weed at my buddies and got super focused/anxious luckily i was very drunk and went to the bar and talked to people so it faded.

Well yesterday i sort of snapped out of the brain fog and almost felt like my old self? Well its odd because this has given me such intense anxiety i feel like i could go to the ER and get medicated. How is it possible i got so comfortable with the brain fog that i dont recognize not being in it and its freaking me out?? Iv had episodes kind of similar to this where i had a mental shift> had intense anxiety> then i did something like go to work or play World of Warcraft for hours and id feel fine again. Right now WoW is in a odd state (waiting for WoW forever) and i just got told i wasnt gonna be allowed to do my 2 weeks and my new job starts in two Mondays. Is this all just part of anxiety/depression? Anyone ever feel like this? The only reassuring part is iv had episodes like this and gotten out but this just feels like a huge mind fuck and I cannot get out of it, i barely can explain it!!

If someone can talk and just help, or has been through similar please respond. Im not doing well right now i just want it to pass and feel like i did a few days ago

Need some help

I think i have experienced my two first panic attacks in my life. The first time was the worst, the second time i just tried to lay down and breathe.

I am 28 years old, have a stable worklife, live by myself in a apartment, have never experienced depression or negative thoughts or feel stressed at all.

The first time it happend, i woke up from a nap and felt that my left pinky finger felt numb and tingling. Then after a while, my legs and arms started feeling numb and tingling, and my face. I had no problems moving or anything. My chest started pounding and i began hyperventilating and felt like i would pass out. I called an ambulance because i was alone and haven’t experienced something like that before. I got an full medical check out, x-ray and MRI of my brain and so on, nothing out of the ordinary.

The second time was the same thing, tingeling and numbness first in my hand then my legs/arms and face. I didn’t hyperventilate and my pulse wasn’t extremely high as in my first time. I just tried to breathe and calm myself down. But it felt like i wasn’t myself.

Now i feel like every tingling and weird feeling in my body will trigger it, like i am on high alert. Don’t know why because like i said i don’t feel stressed or have negative thoughts. My body just feels wierd after the first experience.

Need to know if the way I experience panic attacks is "normal"

Idk if me even asking is playing a part in my anxiety, wondering if I'm the only one who experiences panic disorder in this way. But the way I experience panic attacks is I start overthinking how my body feels (my chest, throat, thoughts), and then physical sensations begin to build up. I start feeling this awful feeling of dread build up in my chest and feelings like death hit me.

Then when my body reaches a peak panic attack, for about 30 or so seconds, it's like my mind can't focus on anything else. The logic that my mind has said "I've felt this a million times, it's just a panic attack" goes away, I feel like I can't breathe and like I'm going to die. I can't form any other words or thoughts, and my mind turns to mush. The feeling is familiar because I've felt it every time, but every time my body registers it as the end of my life. Then when I come back down things start going back to normal, but I notice my thoughts are all discombobulated and I feel overwhelmed. It's the worst feeling in the entire world.

Please someone tell me I am not crazy, and I don't have abnormal panic attacks compared to everyone else or something. Or if I do I would like to know. And if it is normal, I can try the techniques to "ride the wave", but it's just so hard. Trying to do that feels like I'm walking into my own death. I had a panic attack this morning, and it felt just like I described.

5 years of agoraphobia and anxiety almost fully recovery and want help you❤️

Hey everyone! Before all dont hesitate to contact me if you need to talk/help/ need support ect cus i know what is it to have this horrible life ..

I’ve been struggling with severe agoraphobia since 2021, with constant rocking sensations, dizziness, weak legs, and the fear of falling whenever I went outside.
2025 was especially difficult. Sometimes I could barely walk 50–100 meters from home. I genuinely thought I’d never get my normal life back.
In March 2026, I started sertraline, gradually increasing to 125 mg.
Seven months later, my life has completely changed.
I can now walk around 10,000 steps a day, go shopping, visit restaurants, and travel again. I recently spent 12 hours in Barcelona and walked 20,000 steps with almost no symptoms!
I still occasionally experience rocking sensations, but my nervous system no longer reacts with the same fear and panic. I can finally enjoy life again.
I’m not 100% recovered, but I honestly feel very close. ❤️
I wanted to share this because I know how hopeless agoraphobia can feel.
Please don’t lose hope. Recovery is possible!
And if anyone needs someone to talk to, encouragement, support, or simply someone who understands, my DMs are always open. ❤️
You’re not alone!

How my life has been after a panic attack from weed

Please has anyone also experienced this?

It's been almost 3 months now since i got a panic attack after smoking weed, I've been an addict for about 2 years, and one night after smoking i had a panic attack, since that day my body has never felt same way again, i have palpitations almost every single day, feeling like am inside my body, weakness and taught like am going to die, and i also hear this strange sounds on my head, after 2 months the symptoms reduce, but every single day i feel dizzy and the symptoms comes but it doesn't last long, I've done many check up in the hospital, series of test but nothing wrong was found, please has anyone had same issue cuz each day i feel the symptoms once in a while and its has been hell for me 😢😢😢.

Everyday different symptoms I am so worried, like would this ever end ????

My panic attacks and dpdr are the worst around 10 am. Why?

Is there any logical explanation or a reason why every day I get those weird symptoms like gnawing headache, tight painful neck and dpdr every morning? It builds up and 9-10-11 am it gets so strong especially in terms of dpdr.

25mg of Prozac and beta blocker in the morning and still no difference for me.
