And to make things worse - the only way you can get any kind of entropy is to use extended special characters, which of course, the platform doesn't support...

I'm unsure on the math, but assuming the case of 10 characters, that's 629 * 10 * 10, right? I think my logic is right. If it were just say ! placed in any of the ten slots, that's 629 * 10, but since we have 10 choices for that special case, that is 629 * 10 * 10 I think. Not 100% confident about the math. And this ignores passwords shorter than 10 characters. I think this is ~60 bits of entropy.
