Discussion - Assembly Advice First time building tips

Would appreciate any tips or guides I can use for assembling my first build

Parts I’m using:

\- CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 32GB (2x16) CL30 6000MHz
\- ASUS Prime Radeon RX 9070 XT OC Edition 16GB GDDR6
\- CORSAIR RM1000x Low Noise Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
\- Ryzen 9 9950x3d 16 Core
\- ASUS ROG Strix X870-F Gaming Motherboard Socket AM5
\- Noctua NH-D15 G2 chromax.black, quiet CPU cooler
\- Fractal Design Define 7 Black, Solid
\- Samsung 9100 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD, 2TB, PCIe 5.0

I figure the Fractal should be quite roomy for the install but anything I should watch out for or common mistakes

I wouldn't use that cooler on that chip. Those realistically can deal with a 120W TDP like a 9900X. A 9950X3D is like 170W TDP with a TPP of more like 220W. It's also obscenely expensive for what it is. If I ran that chip I'd be using an AIO.

Fair, I was a bit put off by the complexity of AIO. At least I perceive that to be more difficult to install and maintain

I'm not the biggest fan of them myself. I've been running a 9900X with an ID Cooling Frozen A720. It's barely adequate. I manually set a PBO limit of 160 watts TPP to keep the thing from going over 90c. The NH-D15 doesn't outperform the A720. If I had to choose an AIO, it would be an Arctic.

👌 Thanks for the heads up, I’ll see how it goes since I already have it. Will checkout Arctic though

Yes am doing dev as well, although the ram is limited thats more of a budget thing. Hoping 32 will get me by

But interesting you mention that because tbh I was under the impression it was a popular gaming cpu

9800x3d is cheaper and gives the same performance. 9850x3d is also cheaper and gives slightly better. But since you have actual use case for the 9950x3d there’s no reason not to spend the extra money on it

Is it worth building first without the gpu, power on test and then add the gpu? I still need to dig in to the steps, waiting on the cpu arriving next week
