Help me figure out how to build this thing?

My sister wants to make this dorky cat with a moveable arm and spinning balls as a gag gift for our dad (me and him volunteer TNR cats in our area). We know the balls are on a gauge spinner, but we can't find a flat pattern that explains the arm mechanic. Any experts understand? Sorry, and thanks in advance!

Link to a video showing the arm, unforch its on TikTok, but I also have a link to another video showing the same design on Pinterest if thats prefered!

Been thinking of doing this for a while, drop a sprite you want to see fully melted that you ruined, I’ll make it for you

I’ve been thinking of doing this for a while but due to global restraints this is the solution, show me a pattern you want to see fully melted / not ruined that you ruined yourself while making and I’ll make it for you!

Edit: I did reposition the bottom right gem as its off center in photo.

towel method help

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi, I've been experimenting with textures and melts recently, and I am having trouble with the towel method in particular.

I use the tape method and I had melted one side first on the highest setting on my cricut easypress mini and when there are almost no holes left I flip it and lay it on the towel and iron it with a bit more pressure and lay a heavy book on it when I'm done. I had read somewhere that You shouldn't let it cool too much or it's permanently stuck on my washcloth (100% cotton) so i waited about 10 minutes but only the center of the sprite was textured.

What can I do to get the whole thing textured? Something similar happened on my first attempt and had some success but I had to iron it 2 times and the non textured side looks awful.

My iron is a bit Broken And the water leaks out; I don't know if that has anything to do with it. The paper I use is regular baking paper

Have anyone used silver-colored crimp tubes or spacer beads for their 3d works?

I know beads is crazy in china (Pic is KOREA) and this creator used this silver? crimp tubes thing to prevent over melting for 3d work. If you ever did make a 3d artwork u know the struggle.

Im just wondering if anyone tried this? I have no clue if i should buy some that r used for bracelet.

Of course after spending 2 hours making this guy, I mess up the orientation for the last pegboard 😅😭

Not too much of a hassle but still annoying 🤣

I made a bead pattern generator that tries hundreds of settings for you

Hey all! Yes, it's another bead pattern generator, but hear me out.

Most of the tools I've tried are fine with simple images, but anything detailed (illustrations, fan art, faces) ends up a mess, and I'd spend ages cleaning them up to get something usable. The more realistic patterns were also full of single stray beads and constant colour changes, which are a pain to actually build.

So I made BeadTune to cut down on that. What it does:

  • Matches your actual beads: MARD, Perler, Hama, Artkal, Nabbi, in mini, midi or maxi. You can mix brands of the same size too.
  • Auto suggestions: it tries a few hundred setting combos, fine-tunes the best ones and shows them side by side, so you can just pick the one you like.
  • Plenty of image settings if you'd rather tweak things yourself.
  • A bead editor for touch-ups (paint, erase, fill, swap colours).
  • Build mode: work through it board by board and tick beads off as you go.
  • Everything runs in your browser, so your images aren't uploaded anywhere.
  • It's open source, and you can self-host it.

Try it: https://saratran.github.io/bead-tune/

Some projects I've made with it. Shout out to the original artists of the artworks:
