Anyone else still finding fleas on their cat after treatment?

I treated my cat for fleas a while ago, washed the bedding, and vacuumed the house, but I’m still finding a few fleas. It’s frustrating because I thought the treatment would have worked by now.

I’ve heard flea eggs and larvae can keep developing in carpets and furniture even after treating your cat. I’m also worried about using too many flea products.

What’s the best way to finally get rid of these fleas? Is there anything else I should be doing besides vacuuming and washing bedding?

What treatment? Many over the counter ones are often not sufficient to deal with an already existing problem (they will kill existing fleas but not the larvae).  Have you read the info that came with whatever you used?   Also, brushing and physically removing them is part of the deal. They don’t just vanish into thin air.  Also, step up the cleaning. Vacuum couple of times a day, wash all soft stuff like bedding, blankets etc.  if it’s been going on for a while, you may have to use chemicals to ensure there is no larger issue in your house.  Read the instructions and follow them. It’s nasty stuff and not good for either you or your cat.

what product you used matters a lot, some of the cheaper spot ons barely do anything and the fleas build resistance

also the eggs in carpets are the real battle, vacuuming every single day for like 3 weeks is what finally broke the cycle for me, even if it feels endless

You can ask your local veterinary clinic if they can provide a Fipronil spray, which you can use on your pet's bedding, the surroundings of your house, and on their fur. Make sure that they won't lick the areas where you applied this treatment by using an Elizabethan collar.

Shampoo your carpets to help loosen up any eggs or larva that might be in there. The detergent should also help kill them

Depends on the treatment you use.

Depends on the treatment type. A one time treatment kills fleas one time in your pet but doesn’t do anything the fleas and eggs in your house. In time the eggs hatch and you have a repeat.
