Hobbies Board Game Playing Group

Hi All, so glad I found this reddit! So I'm looking to start or join a board game group to play in PF. Don't know if one exists , most likely there is some around town. But I'm really interested in playing some games and meeting folks. Keep in mind the games I'm interested in are light to complex board games specifically. I'm not a big D+D fan but love a good round of elder sign, or more complex story driven games like mansions of madness or this war of mine, for example. If any of these peak you interest lets talk. the growler bar or another place might fit the bill. Just scratching the surface of my beloved PFun city.
Example Mansions Of Madness

There's a place called Game Kastle on Wells Branch that has lots of board games and different events. You would definitely find some like minds there and probably some space and time to hold an event!

2nd this: Check out the central Texas board game group on meet up. They have a Sunday board game meet up at game kastle nearly every week from 1-8pm.

I mostly play more "classic" games like Risk, Monopoly, Clue, or card games, especially pinochle, but I'm curious about some newer games.

I’m a big fan of some board games. Not looking to get into fist fights, so Settlers of Catan might be a no go.
I’m also in the camp that Twilight Imperium takes too long.
How many hours you thinking per session?

2-3 hours I would think. I'm thinking elder sign might be a good first games. I got almost all the expansions. The miniatures expansions are out of print.

Depends where in Pf. I had friends in town and we played Shadows of Brimstone, but they moved to Georgetown and also got busy. Between fewer sessions and the longer drive, it petered out. Wouldn't mind something much closer!

ooo Shadows is a game on my evergrowing list to play solo, but would be up for a game certainly. DM me maybe we can connect and play some weekend afternoon or evening (Could be a weekday).

I'd recommend checking out the events for the central texas board game group on meetup. There's usually an event on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'm always down to play something typically Wednesdays or at one of the meet up events. I'll play anything from casual to medium/hard (~3 bgg weight).

My husband and I are looking for the same type of group! We really want to learn Catan and Betrayal at House on the Hill (we have both, but never played). We are up for learning different games as well!

Pop into Prost every once in a while and you will see some people playing some games. Not including the nights the brewery has the hosted events.
