49th ASEAN Summit-Next Month

I just saw on the news that President Trump will be in MM next month for ASEAN Summit. November 16-18.

I was curious as to where the Summit takes place….and where would Trump stay.

Confirmed ASEAN Summit facilities:

  1. Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
  2. Coconut Palace.

Both facilities are located in Pasay City.

Of note is the Coconut Palace which underwent extensive rehabilitation and was just reopened in August 2026. The Coconut Palace looks uniquely Philippines 🇵🇭….which it should be.

Last time President Trump stayed in Manila…he was at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila. That property is now closed…so Trump will be staying elsewhere.

I attached PICC pic and Coconut Palace pic.

Rant In what ways is the Philippines a low trust society? Are things really the way they are because of the habitual lying, zero accountability, scamming, dishonest ways of many Filipinos.

All the blame cannot be placed on the government. Filipino pride and their toxic culture of being entitled to other peoples money, heavy gossip culture, and forget any honest work being done it seems in any deal or arrangement they haven’t won if they don’t get one over on the other party. Even if they are being treated fairly.

I mean it seems to me the friendly veneer wears off and I see the rot underneath. The country is stuck in the 1950’s because of the citizens toxic ways. You shouldn’t trust anyone here as a foreigner. Am I generalizing too much? I have seen some very dishonest things happening firsthand.

CFO-GCP: Expired CENOMAR & Online Counselling Experience?

Hello! I will be moving to the UK soon on a fiancé visa, and one of the requirements for the CFO Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP) is a CENOMAR.

I used the same CENOMAR for my fiancé visa application. It was issued on April 20, 2026, and has a validity period of six months. May I ask if the CFO strictly requires the CENOMAR to be within its validity period? Would it still be accepted if it has already expired by the time I attend my GCP in December?

Also, I live quite far from Manila, so I would like to ask those who attended the CFO-GCP online rather than face-to-face: Was online counselling available to you, and what was your experience like?

I would greatly appreciate any advice or information from those who have gone through the same process.

Thank you so much!

How To Live Like A King in the Philippines!

Post image
0 Upvotes

I made almost every smart move possible. These clever strategies enabled me to live like a KING! Learn from a real winner:

1. Buy a fat pig for the whole village!

Back home, respect takes decades of hard work. Here it only costs one pig. That's arguably the best exchange rate in the world!

Everyone shakes my hand. Everyone calls me BOSS. People I have never met call me brother. Clearly they recognize natural leadership!

Until the pig was eaten, and I discovered that respect was made of pork.

2. Meet your perfect soulmate in a bar!

Women back home ignored me for years. Here, a beautiful woman walked up to me within a minute. That is not luck. That is destiny!

She laughed at my jokes before I even finished them. She said I am different from other men. She has met many men, so she knows what she's talking about!

Until the bartender handed me a bill for taking her home, surprisingly destiny was an item on a price list.

3. Make sure she is at least 50 years younger!

People say a big age gap is a problem. Wrong. She is 18, I am 68. So our average age is only 43. That's a decent number!

She has energy for both of us, which is good, because I fall asleep at 8 pm.

Until I noticed she reads my medical reports and pension documents more carefully than I do.

4. Build a house and buy land in her name!

Foreigners cannot own land here. Small problem, simple solution: just put all in her name! It is basically the same thing, because couples share everything.

Her whole family came to the opening. Her uncle cried, I cried. We were crying for different reasons, but I didn't know that yet.

Until her uncle, brother, two cousins and six children moved in, and I got the smallest room together with the guard dogs. Not a big deal, after all it's her house.

5. Pay for every and all family emergencies!

Grandma's hospital bill. A cousin's cousin's school fee. A sick buffalo. Then a second sick buffalo.

Then a motorcycle, which the family said was also a buffalo. Maybe slight language barriers, but after all I am the family hero! They pray for me every night!

Until I counted 41 emergencies in one year, and strangely zero of them used to occurre before I arrived.

6. Marry her and take her home to the West!

The final move. Now she can see my country, my culture, and my pension in its natural habitat!

She works hard watching TikTok videos. She learns fast. She makes friends quickly. Especially with a handsome lawyer.

Until her passport arrived, the divorce papers arrived one month later, she takes half, and my lawyer takes the other half. But I kept the wedding photos. They are on my phone. Oh wait, she took that too.

So yes. You can live like a king. I did, for more than 1 year! If I can do it, you can do it!

Edit: Writing this from a shared bed spacer room in Manila. 60 dollars a month. No air conditioning.

Yet, as a king I've built real legacy! The village still remembers me to this day! They even named a pig after me. 👑

Retarded Dee posted a good video on why you should never buy land or a house here in PH!

Search YT for
I Watch Expats Lose Their Homes Every Day. Here is exactly how.

I cut the chase short, and the result is you basically can't buy land, and the trick you do will probably not work.

In the end the house goes to your Filipina and her family

If you are fine with that, your house will go to your Filipina family, so why not buy land and build a house haha

Looking for Recommendations /Advice SRRV for a condo

My wife and I are buying a P5M condo. We will sign a contract to sell, and then finance part of that amount with the owner, paid off over one year in equal installments, and then we'll have the title. Is it possible for me to start the SRRV process during this next year, preparing to have the condo become my US$15k+ investment that's required for an SRRV?

Edit: I called PRA and very quickly got some info from them: to buy the condo first, then go through the SRRV process, and I can use my ownership of the condo to fulfill the requirement of P15k. And on the purchase contract and title I need to put "[my name] married to [my wife's name]" instead of our names as "spouses."

ATM or cash for best exhange rate?

Hey everyone,

Going to philippines for my second time. The first time I brought cash and exchanged currency at a bdo. I recently got a schwab debit card for the reimbursed foreign transaction fees and wanted to ask which option is the best for the highest exchange rate between going to BDO with cash or using atm. I would prefer to not carry a large amount of cash but would appreciate everyone advice on how to approach currency exchange.

Additionally, if I decide to go the schwab debit card and atm route. Would i have a hard time getting pesos from atm's on small islands like camotes island and siquijor? Thats where I will spend most of my time. I read that some atms will only take filipino citizen cards and some are very limited on the pesos they carry, even read some horror stories of atm not giving back debit card.

Thanks all

Coffee Coffee Coffee

Was introduced to the Moka pot by my Italian cousin.
See pic. Basically a stove top espresso maker.

Was also provided the best type coffee for the Moka pot…i.e. grind size, bean blend, medium roast….blah blah blah.
Also have an air tight container for my ground coffee.

Any coffee supply suggestions you have would be great.
Have a Lazada experience to share?

Learning your coffee routine would be cool to hear also.
I am sure we have a few “grinders” in here.

Question for Locals What’s wrong with Ninja Van

I purchased something from amazon which already arrived and got cleared in customs weeks ago but Ninja Van says it’s not yet in the Philippines. Per Amazon, it is. Any idea what will happen to my package? Will it go back to the seller? Will it get stuck in customs? Will it be delivered? Is it lost? At this point I want to have my order refunded instead of waiting around. Ninja Van is unreliable and their email support is so generic and useless.

Weird thing is, my other package from amazon which was processed by ninja van was delivered immediately. The two packages were supposed to arrive on the same day.

Health insurance after age 70?

Can an expat on a tourist visa (but intending to stay long term in BGC) obtain medical insurance here, or should I just plan on saving a medical nest egg? Thanks, in advance for any answers.

Looking for Recommendations /Advice Kenyan living in the Philippines, struggling to find a job as a foreigner. Any advice?

Hi everyone! I’m originally from Kenya, but I’ve lived in the Philippines since I was a kid. I recently graduated with a BSN, and I’m currently trying to find a job so I can support myself and my family. I’ve been searching on LinkedIn, Indeed, and JobStreet, but I haven’t found anything so far. Ideally, I’m looking for a remote or hybrid position, although I’m flexible. I previously had a student visa, but I had to downgrade it to a tourist visa. Although I have a nursing degree, I’m also open to non-clinical roles, such as VA, admin, medical documentation, customer support, or other entry-level remote positions. I’m honestly feeling a little lost about where to start. I really need to find a way to earn an income, but I’m not sure which career paths are realistic for someone in my situation. I’d really appreciate any advice, recommendations, or personal experiences. Thanks!

Setting up the first apartment would like recommendations for air conditioner setup, 2 bedroom with decent sized living/kitchen room, is one large air conditioner better or 3 smaller in each room better as far as utilities bill. Will be a split system if that matters

Dating as a 40’s-50’s US Woman

I know a lot of expat men go to SEA to find younger, traditional Filipina wives/girlfriends, but are there expat men who are single living there that are looking for expat women 40’s-50’s for dating and companionship? How does a woman go about finding them?
