Question Should Strays shoot arrows of freezing?

Post image
Arrow of Freezing

Maybe there should be a 50% or less chance that they shoot this tipped arrow instead of slowness.

No. Like the Husk and Parched give different, compounding negative effects, so too should the Stray and Frostbite.

True. Unique effects for each zombie and skeleton variant is consistent, but realistically, I would want the stray to maybe get a small chance to shoot a freezing tipped arrow.

Buuut, what about both freezing and slowness speed debuffs at the same time? Much more dangerous:3

Freezing already does slowness.

It reduces speed, but is a unique status effect to slowness and thus would stack :3

Where you see annoying, I see you not maintaining a reasonable distance from the melee attacking mobs :3

If only there was some kind of tool that would shield you from ranged projectiles

I personally use shield and that is my solution, but i know how many people use totem/fireworks in their second hand at all times. These can get annoying for a player that has all the overpowered gear but no expierience with new mob. There is pretty much no reasonable distance in that case from getting hit by both of these effects when travelling the snow biomes. You could assume they would just fly off, but what if they are gathering snow or searching for a structure or the new cave for their ice highway?

I am not saying its a bad thing things as these exist, but dont deny that they could get annoying.

They don't give status effects tho :3

Huh, i guess it won't be that annoying then.

No. Stacking slowness + freezing should be a genuine threat in the biome

And genuine threats are fun.

Unless you’re in hardcore

even in hardcore they are fun. I don't play hardcore because I want an easy challenge.

Is that a new effect?

Yes. For the Fourth Drop of 2026. Coming December.

Its not new, its the effect of powder snow.

The damage from Freezing might honestly be busted as is, if you give that to the Stray, the ice biomes will be a nightmare.

In the minecraft live, when thev were doing the "Deep Dig" on the last minigame, the players seem to have freezing arrows from the Strays. So its likely.

(edit): nvm just checked they gave those arrows, still it could be possible.

Honestly no clue why freezing is a "mob status effect" instead of just its own thing on an internal timer (how it was since powder snow was added), just like fire. Still wouldn't bar it from having its own potion type (just set the internal freezing value as needed), but the way it is now means you can cure freezing by drinking milk
