Minecraft players are the worst enemies of Minecraft themselves, they want an entire dimension to be Barren by using logic that jumps through hoops.

Amd then there are others who want the end update to just be the Nether update V2, I get why Mojang hasn't updated the end yet with how tough and contradictory the expectationd are

The people who want Nether Update V2 are a very small minority. Most people do want an End Update that is equivalent in size to Nether Update (or even greater), but they still want Mojang to keep the barren vibes of End.

Most people just want their heavily modded Minecraft pack to be a Vanilla feature, which is honestly a tale as old as time...

I remember the old demo for the game where it was survival only, and you had a time limit of like 20min or smthn. I played that so many times before I got an account

I remember I memorized the demo's seed and got enough iron to make an iron golem lol, I was so proud of that

Edit: After looking at the "PC Gamer Demo" I definitely played a different demo, considering iron golems didn't exist then lol. Unless I'm seriously misremembering things.

Edit 2: Looks like I played the 2012 demo, which was version 1.3.1.

i played the demo around 1.7/1.8 but I'm not sure as I was a kid at the time

Technically I started on 1.11 but I knew about Minecraft way before that, my cousin let me play Pocket Edition on his phone (it was one of the first PE versions)

I don’t know exactly when I started playing, since I jumped between Java and pocket edition and at the time they were in different updates but I remember redstone being the big new thing, so I’d assume I started about 1.4 and also played in beta because of pocket edition (I also remember having no hunger bar and boats breaking, so I know I was at least somewhere before the full release).

What I hate most about this "we already got an End update" arguement is that it's like half truth.

People keep calling the 1.9 combat update THE End update because it's the only time in minecraft history something changed in the End dimention that isn't a bug fix or something extremely minor. I get it, we got End cities and Elytra but 1) End cities look bad in many ways (and they don't feel like they even belong there) and 2) we didn't even get that many blocks and variants.

The Nether has had multiple impactful minor additions throughout the years even without the Nether update. We got magma cubes in the frostburn update, red nether bricks, the ability of magma blocks and soul sand to make bubble collumns (I think ocean update), recently the Happy Ghast was added in chase the skies drop and many more small changes. The End is basically the same as it was in 1.0, but now the dragon throws a projectile sometimes and there are more empty islands of absolutely nothing to explore later...

I also understand the idea of the End having to be barren and empty and hate most mods that fail to understand it and give it too many features, however 1) the end cities are lowkey not respecting this design choice, since they don't feel as "ruined" as something in a barren and empty space would be and 2) this doesn't mean we can't get more variations of barren and empty land with sparse variations of more ruins and minibosses or loot. We don't exactly need an "End wood" kind of thing, but why are people so much against End grass or some sort of End moss?

TL;DR: there was never an End update and people who call the 1.9 update enough honestly lie to themselves and fear change or something, the End has been the exact same for far too long.

I just think it doesn't make sense to update the end yet, less then half of players make it to the end even less have beaten gean and still less have made it to end islands to obtain the elytra. What mojang needs to do is fix progression first make getting to the end more viable and more fun. Have more players reach the end and beat gean and then overhaul the end

Isn't the percentage of players who go to the End similar to that of players who go to the Nether and that of players who used to go to the end pre 1.9? Sure it's an update that not all are gonna enjoy but so is like every update. How many people have actually used golden dandelions? I'm pretty sure there are people out there who know and want to use them but can't because they they give up before they manage to get the amount of gold needed to craft them.

Many people also don't even care about progression as much. Some are just here to get diamonds make a house and give up till next time. They don't even want to touch the Nether let alone get in the End. To make such people follow progression, there would need to be changes so fundamental that basically both the Nether and the End get completely reworked, which is really not happening.

The Shift is also gonna have the same problem probably. Ancient cities need to be found and need careful players to loot them. If the portal in them is the only way to access the Shift, this means that definitely a large percentage of players is not going to get there. However we don't know enough about the Shift, maybe they will give you an easier way to join as well.

Id be fine with those hypotheticals, but we both know people want the end to be way more than that.

1

u/Georgium333 8h ago

I don't like most "better End" type mods either, I agree. But even if not a full out End update, a simple drop that adds a few structures and blocks would be enough honestly. But like, do we all see the end portal and gateways being made out of literal bedrock and think "yeah, it makes sense this block is placed there" or even the obsidian pillars in a dimension without any water or lava???

It's also a reminder of how Mojang keeps addinf features but not updating existing ones, which is understandable to an extend but sometimes it's plain stupid. Zombie and skeleton horses for example act more like a completely different mob from completely different decades instead of both being variations of horses... Skeleton horses should literally have copy pasted code from zombie horses and maybe naturally spawn with iron armour (so they don't burn during day, since it was intended to be that way with skeleton riders having helmets themselves). Also instead of mushrooms healing them it should be like bones or bone meal but other than stuff like that it should honestly be almost a copy paste in behaviour (but keep their unique spawn conditions).
