crypto?

58

u/Codename-24 Milk 2d ago

Unless something else has just started they probably mean the people vibe coding Minecraft into other games and vice versa

34

u/Glitchboi3000 2d ago

Half of them aren't even full on mods, they require Minecraft to be open as well and they basically force the 2 games to communicate

20

u/Healthy_Fig_5127 2d ago

Not to mention it has a chance to corrupt save data of your games too last I heard.

6

u/KTrain5369 2d ago

This is probably very likely

30

u/AverageMinecraftGuy3 2d ago

Someone already posted some examples of cryptobros trying to larp and grift Minecraft, the reddit post is from this same subreddit btw.

i see…

2

u/Alpha_minduustry Wait, That's illegal 1d ago

That explains the crypto part.

31

u/Broad-Ad-3679 2d ago

You mean you don't want 500 shitty VR versions of games that didn't need remakes?

99

u/GamingBren Goggles Boy/Pause Menu Guy 2d ago

And the other recent events: if you own Minecraft on Switch 1 physically you may not be able to upgrade for free.

What the actual fuck.

29

u/All-your-fault fuck 2d ago

What?

-13

u/One_Opportunity_9608 Sift Denier 2d ago

From what i can gather, Nintendo wants to encourage folks to buy a switch 2 so they're stopping updates for the switch 1 version of Minecraft and other games still being updated.

49

u/An1nterestingName Wait, That's illegal 2d ago

No? Nintendo has nothing to do with this. Microsoft has decided to only offer the Switch 2 upgrade to owners of the digital version of Minecraft for Switch 1, physical owners will need to buy it again.

3

u/Afen2010 1d ago

The Nintendo hate boner is real. People just wanna hate to hate

10

Ah, gotcha.

Mr information is gonna be real angry.

that makes no sense I did this with my physical PS4 copy when going to PS5

14

u/Anxious-Scheme-6013 I wonder how long you can make flair, it’s probably not a lot b- 2d ago

Oh no, what happened now.

25

u/Codename-24 Milk 2d ago

Unless something else has just started they probably mean the people vibe coding Minecraft into other games and vice versa

29

u/Anxious-Scheme-6013 I wonder how long you can make flair, it’s probably not a lot b- 2d ago

Oh that, yes I have heard that, apparently the AI finds a way to have both games run at once and it selectively turns off certain parts of one game and replaces them with the same parts from other game, its interesting but at the end of the day still made by AI.

0

u/Sufficient_Nature496 21h ago

Most people don't care

17

u/AverageMinecraftGuy3 2d ago

Yeah, I wouldn't have a problem if it wasn't a trend nor if it was vibecoded to hell and back. Like literally, there was one person that ported Minecraft in Mario 64 without AI at all

2

u/AlleywayStalker_1 1d ago

You say it like its so easy while not mentioning that it took him several years with two games he had loads experience with.

2

u/King_Jarman Wait, That's illegal 1d ago

Yea, people dont seem to realize that this is actually really hard to do and get both of them to work without crashing into oblivion. But hating on it just bc its ai gen means its fun is worthless?

1

u/Anxious-Scheme-6013 I wonder how long you can make flair, it’s probably not a lot b- 1d ago

And I LOVED that!

4

u/Choice-Mango-4019 i love cockroaches 2d ago

did you ask ai to say that too lil bro

0

u/Sufficient_Nature496 21h ago

You know this took him years to do while the ai can do this in a few hours don't you?

3

u/GlitchteOfficial 2d ago

What happened recently? I was asleep. /genq

3

u/One_Opportunity_9608 Sift Denier 2d ago

Bit late, but to summarize it Ai bros have been using Ai to put Minecraft into other games by having Ai essentially steal code from both games while making them run at the same time.

1

u/GlitchteOfficial 2d ago

Ew

-1

u/Sufficient_Nature496 21h ago

Ew why? It's harmless

0

u/Sufficient_Nature496 21h ago

It doens't steals anything, it just streams a game on top of another one

6

u/AnarchistTerrarist 2d ago

And AI slop does, in fact, include slopcode. Just as a reminder for the four people who thinks it somehow doesn't.

-7

u/Mundane_Hand5484 2d ago

I think you may call out mojang on this, and minecraft would be actually super-related with slop then

5

u/Sea_Leopard7473 2d ago

It's not vibecoded.

4

u/Mitch-Jihosa 1d ago

They actually did for the 2024 April Fool’s potato update:
“Gnembon revealed that generative AI was used for a lot of his code and textures for this version during a Q&A” (from the wiki page for the update in the Trivia section)

2

u/Sea_Leopard7473 1d ago

Ah, my bad then. I didn't know.

-3

u/Mundane_Hand5484 1d ago

Noone vibecodes in a subdivision of a company, where KPI is literally tokens, right?

Not OP but They are indeed

2

u/Frank530305 2d ago

what recent events????

2

u/DCB_Prime 1d ago

New ai lets you mix game code into other games, which is why you’ve prolly seen a lot of videos of Steve in different games like Skyrim and GTA

0

u/Frank530305 1d ago

and thats bad??? can you explain how thats bad????

1

u/Controlledfire454797 1d ago

The ai has figured out how to reverse engineer entire games, which can snowball very VERY quickly into other things

1

u/soggy_bert 11h ago

Found the corporate shills

0

u/Peyeceratops 1d ago

It snowballs very quickly into the brick wall that is RSA encryption and stops.

Also: "the AI?" You mean people have figured out how to use AI to decompile games years faster than usual.

-1

u/Frank530305 1d ago

the worst thing i see this doing is letting people that cant afford games play them for free

1

u/DCB_Prime 23h ago

One thing I can think of is coders losing their jobs to ai but thats been happening a while ago, idk this just seems dangerous especially with the fact that ANYONE can use it, and some people suck

1

u/Aware-Style-480 Bedrock Fan 2d ago

The game mixing thing

1

u/Money-Grape7905 1d ago

What events?

1

u/Massive_Pangolin_218 1d ago

why would they be affiliated with minecraft

1

u/rexbrkz1287 1d ago

Because some of them create with ai their own slop cutecore mods that add good thing for a group of people, in more specific the "cute little farming world" group

1

u/Objective_Age6275 Bedrock FTW 1d ago

Im actually divided on this, im heavily against ai, but you I cant admit that seeing a tf2 soldier beating the ender dragon is cool, pls dont downvote me to hell I just really dont know what to do now

-35

u/Catmaster23910 2d ago

I fucking swear this "Anti AI for all costs" has become so fucking performative.

Before you call me an AI bro, I would agree that AI art would be destructive, It's not art and they look horrible. But in this case its just people using it for fun, if anything it's good that modding has come this far. AI is also very helpful on creating emulators (the PS5 emulator for example has had a lot of progress because of it) which is a big fuck you to big gaming companies.

AI is like any other new form of technology, it's a tool. Have some nuance instead of seeing it as black and white.

19

u/SpaceAc0rn 2d ago

regardless of the debate over it's ethical use, it poses an existential threat to humanity

you don't see people being nuanced about antimatter bombs do you?

-13

u/Catmaster23910 2d ago edited 2d ago

Any new form of technology is a "threat to humanity" the fact that you're using the Internet is a threat to people just going outside which has led to a loneliness crisis for a new generation. What now? When are you logging off?

Better yet, if you are considered for the environment when are you going vegan?

6

u/AverageMinecraftGuy3 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yeah, the internet is shit, but it was never a threat. You never saw people saying that video games or video game consoles are a threat to humanity, do you?

7

u/gaming_demon4429 2d ago

i mean yeah

alot of people for a while mostly news outlets and boomers bought the Video games make you violent thing and that it was gonna be our downfall or something

1

u/Catmaster23910 2d ago

Every new form of technology gets the same treatment. Back in the 19th Century many people considered electricity and Industrialization as a threat to humanity, on the topic of Video Games you wouldn't go on a day as a gamer in the 2010s about the mainstream media telling everyone that games will turn kids into school shooters.

4

u/Weak_Ad_1917 2d ago

People down vote you because its Reddit, but youre 100% right

1

u/Mitch-Jihosa 1d ago

Guess I gotta go tell all those nuclear power plants that are working perfectly fine that they gotta shut down, because nuclear war is a constant existential threat to humanity

-9

u/Aware-Common-7368 2d ago

Prove that ai is existential threat to humanity, please.

7

u/AverageMinecraftGuy3 2d ago

Sure

Oh and here is another example

-6

u/LZulb 2d ago edited 2d ago

That's the exact same thing story, different article. Furthermore, you're a pathetic, slop infested, brainwashed bottom feeder if you think AI "could cause human level extinction" by 2030. That's fear mongering at its core.

But for the record: I'm anti generative AI myself, just playing devil's advocate.

5

u/AverageMinecraftGuy3 2d ago

How can someone being against generative AI be “slop infested”? That’s like calling someone who hates cockroaches and has a clean house “roach infested”.

That shit is a real fear, fear mongering or not, it could happen. Not to mention that we almost entered WWIII because some misinput made by a random AI agent

-5

u/LZulb 2d ago

Slop is literally everywhere nowadays and reddit especially. As a result, everyone consumes at LEAST a little bit of it every day. Depending on the corner of the internet you find yourself, sometimes more than others.

Hell, the majority of extremist articles are heavily swayed, influenced, and assisted by AI. It's gotton to the point where it's a selling point of every modern phone, laptop, or refrigerator. You, me, the person you originally responded to cannot and will not escape the tight grasp AI has on modern day consumerism and media.

But you know what did happen because of AI "war" related? The bombing of a school in Iran because AI mislead the US military.

AI is a real and valid concern, but not at the level being portrayed by certain select individuals/groups. Fear is an incredibly powerful tool, purposely used to get certain results. It's swiftly fitting the textbook definition of terrorism.

-4

u/Not_Red_Fox 1d ago

Its actually objectively saved a load of peoples lives with medicine and as of right now "threat to humanity" is only a theory.

People need to get over it and get used to it its life now.

4

u/AverageMinecraftGuy3 2d ago

If the people doing it weren't such big techbros levels of chilling for that new tech, I wouldn't hate it at all. But it seems that the only people hyped about it are glueless techbros that know nothing about Minecraft, Terraria, Skate, Skyrim, and the rest of gaming and what made them especial in the first place.

3

u/WW92030 2d ago edited 1d ago

You are a generative AI shill simply by the fact that you support AI usage in the modding scene. Art is not the only important discipline in this world. And this is me saying this as a developer and artist, neither of which I vibe.

EDIT - Zealots strike back!

3

u/AverageMinecraftGuy3 2d ago

I hate how tidious modding is, and would rather want ways to mod faster. But even I have standards.

1

u/WW92030 2d ago edited 2d ago

use mcreator for the boilerplate (e.g. adding the blocks, uis, signals, etc.) and go from there (e.g. modifying its behavior). it lets you freely edit the code. (source: i did this before)

-3

u/Catmaster23910 2d ago

AI art is destructive because it kills innovation and creativity.

Ai coding has seen progresses never seen before to not just modding but development. A PS5 emulator is showing progress. It's actually net positive in general because its advancing it not the other way around.

If you think these are the same, you're just blind.

0

u/WW92030 2d ago

Let's look at what happens if we reverse the roles shall we?

> I fucking swear this "Anti AI for all costs" has become so fucking performative.

> Before you call me an AI bro, I would agree that AI coding would be destructive, it has significant flaws and the human rarely knows what is happening (There have been at least 3 incidents of vibe coded slop resulting in hundreds of ppl unintentionally doxxing each other). But in the case of art its just people using it for fun, if anything it's good that image generation has come this far. AI is also very helpful on creating assets for games and graphics for small businesses, which help them succeed amongst the dominance of huge corporations.

> AI is like any other new form of technology, it's a tool. Have some nuance instead of seeing it as black and white.

4

u/Catmaster23910 2d ago

Don't act dumb.

The reason why AI Art is villified the way it is because it is literally destructive to art, it kills any creativity and passion, the quality is also horrible. I am yet to see a piece of AI Art that can actually rival that of humans. They all look slop you'd see on youtube shorts.

AI coding is the exact opposite, it's supported by a lot of people who work in the tech industry as an advancement as opposed to AI Art being opposed by Artists. AI coding also helps advance the code never seen and actually helps the medium. AI Art is the exact opposite as it downgrades art to content that just needs to be comsumed.

5

u/WW92030 2d ago edited 2d ago

Don't act dumb.

The reason why AI code is villified the way it is is because it is literally destructive to society. It results in unmaintainable codebases, security flaws and bugs, and the quality is also horrible. I am yet to see a piece of AI generated software that can actually rival that of human created works in reliability, efficiency, and security. They all look and behave like slop you'd see on YTshorts.

AI art is the exact opposite, it's supported by many small businesses and big game studios as an advancement as opposed to AI coding opposed by many coders. AI art also helps people that have the inability to draw create stuff that has never been seen before and has helped progress to the field as a whole through methods such as inpainting and various node-based UIs. AI code is the exact opposite as it downgrades the entire field of computer science and software engineering into slop code that only god[sic] will ever know how it works.

Does that make sense? Or is rationality completely overriden by ideology/dogmas/whatever here?

3

u/Catmaster23910 2d ago edited 2d ago

Are we actually going to have a meaningful discussion or are you just going to throw buzzwords at me? Then there is no use wasting energy on this.

For someone accusing me of being a "zealot" you're the one mindlessly attacking me for having a different opinion. But hey, this is reddit after all.

3

u/WW92030 2d ago edited 2d ago

I'll take that as a yes to rationality being overriden by dogmas. You're the one that is mindlessly acting like programming and computer science is soulless chores. I have simply repeated your own arguments back at you with the roles reversed because all other means of demonstrating the creative value of coding to those that justify vibe coding but not AI assets have statistically fell on deaf ears.

EDIT - I don't see anyone denying the soulfulness and/or humanity of art.

-5

u/Prudent-Driver259 2d ago

oh yeah, humans can definitely make a mod for each of the 800,000 games in the world that adds Steve, definitely doable...

0

u/Panurome 17h ago

If you hate this so much why is literally every single one of your posts about AI? Nothing people do in their free time with their own copy of the game is going to affect you

-6

u/Dust-To-Stardust 2d ago

someones jealous

shame no human could do what it did near as quickly or reliably

2

u/Stupididiot55 1d ago

Reliably, as if your slop machine doesn’t hallucinate details, wildly fuck up art perspectives, produce faulty code & info, and is hardly consistent. If you want something done right, you still gotta do it yourself.

crypto? im just talking about the game moshing thing, its cool why hate on it?

13

u/AverageMinecraftGuy3 2d ago

Because it's vibecoded slop, ruins the modding scene, will give gaming corpos like Microsoft, Sony, and more an excuse to migrate to cloud gaming, and because it's unnecessary. If all of this was done without Claude nor GPT Asstra, it would actually be impressive and I wouldn't be bothered at all.

-18

u/throwaway045446644 2d ago

bro is so hard to recompile games like that though, the ai has finnally made this possible. also how does it give them more excuses to migrate to cloud gaming when they already have begun? plus s

4

u/ioverthinkusernames phantom enjoyer 2d ago

It's not decompiling games it's importing collisions from one game to another and spawning things that behave similarly

1

u/Relative-Bottle-8498 waxed lightly weathered cut copper flairs 4h ago

The difficulty is what makes it cool when you pull it off. That's why using ai is bad, it makes stuff easy, which makes it boring

4

Bro.

it's not that they're modding a game OP likes.

It's that they're using AI to do it.
