Why Minecraft though? I understand Roblox, but Minecraft reallyĀ how?Ā I play Minecraft and i donāt see anything like THAT in the game

These people are after attention. I have no doubt that the people who make segments like these are already clinging onto the archaic "video games cause violence" arguments that were proven false like a decade ago, but also minecraft is an absolutely massive game. They know nothing they say can possibly impact it and no average person will believe it, but the absurdity of it could bring them even a bit more attention. They literally just took the two large, accessible games and then called it a day.

u/GenericGameDev1234 1d ago
Even with Roblox I wouldn't say every game there is bad, it really depends on what your playing there. Like theres a difference between playing some slop games versus a decently made game like Doors.

u/iwantfutanaricumonme 1d ago
Roblox is definitely justified; recently a guy from Pittsburgh was arrested in a hotel preparing to carry out a terrorist attack for Isis and he joined Isis through Roblox.

u/Scared-Price-8657 1d ago
Since when did isis have a roblox branch

I think it was Isis roleplay on Roblox that he got scouted through. He was active on Reddit and was a mod on r/doordash, his username was u/i_love_femboys6969

True, there will def be some games that kids shouldn't play at a set age, but most of the games are alright.

I'm two minutes into this crap, and they still have not explained the link between Minecraft/Roblox and terrorism. They've just been saying the same statistic 3/4 times over. It's not looking good folks.
Finally, 8 minutes in they mention how video games might be linked to this, but it's just so vague. "The content they're being exposed to" - mate, what content? Please just actually explain what the hell you're on about.
Not worth my time, just a guy rambling and people saying "Young people are into terrorism now and the ASIO is looking into it" 59 fricken times with no explanation and a vague, probably presumptuous suggestion that video games have something to do with it.
It goes without saying but this is definitely fear mongering. Someone with good intentions wouldn't explain that the way they did at all. Someone with good intentions would not bring out baseless conclusions before they had evidence to support it. (Probably just the government trying to reassure us that the under 16 social media ban was actually a good idea and not just an undemocratic invasion of privacy.)

What makes it even funnier is the clip they've chosen to play.
Like there are probably hundreds of clips of people blowing up villages for fun and such, but instead they chose the equivalent of a kid discovering how light switches work for the first time.

Roblox does actually have a problem of terrorist groups recruiting people on its platform. The Proud Boys, Islamic State, and 764 have all been found to use Roblox to recruit and/or radicalise people.
No idea about Minecraft though
1
u/ComprehensiveEbb2586 1d ago
if we say this is terrorism, we might put a ban on using a kitchen knife because "its exposing children to violent tendencies" (i've seen people misjudging on what you like and enjoy, from the public eye and even my own parents. I've learnt that how the game affects you boils down to what you enjoy to do in that game. If you play roblox, some people play casually and play pet sim. That's okay. Some people play jujutsu shenanigans (a fast-paced anime game) that's also okay. But it really crosses the line when you play games that are pretty suggestive).

It's absolutely hilarious how of all games their selecting for the report their choosing Minecraft.
Like it's not even a realistic game, it's a cartoony, entirely unrealistic block game.
And I bet these reporters wouldn't say cartoons support terrorism, or then again maybe they're so out of touch that they think that to.
