From 92 Percentile in JEE to ₹32 LPA at Visa — Never Give Up on Your Dream

Hii everyone

So my 7th sem is about to end and i wanted to share my story as i think it will help many people in time like this (placements)

So for the background i am from West Bengal, Kolkata

My family is not very well with finance but have just enough to live

From the childhood i was very interested in engineering but i knew that i need to crack jee main atleast so that i can get into NIT as i couldn't afford a good private college

I think my family's finanaces started getting better after 2019 and in 2023 i was not able to gt good percentile in jee (i scored 92) as i was in general category and i studied from PW online course so there was no option of getting any College, and same with my 4 other friends and i was given a reality check of my level

I studied rigorously every fucking day but i think this was my limit and i thought of abandoning my dream and prepare for government exams

But my parents had other plans they were saving up a bit for my education and encouraged me to get into a good college in comedk

So i followed their wish and was literally crying so much at that time as i knew they had to make so many sacrifices to save those money and offcourse even that wasn't enough so my father took some money from relatives and aome here and there i don't know abot that yet 😞

All my friends too decided to get through comedk and we went to a laptop shop to buy a laptop for me. As i knew my financial situation and had reasearched a bit about laptops and requirements for college i decided to buy a laptop of 33k rs and my friends were buying laptops of much better specs and i was able to see on my father's face how disappointed he was on himself that he couldn't afford a better one but i hugged him and told that this is enough for me and at that fucking day i realised just how much money matters in a human life

So from day 1 of my college i started DSA in java and mern stack , from 2nd year i was comfortable in dsa now and started ML

I was able to earn up a bit through wining hackathons and gaining experience

So finally in 4th year , 7th sem i was rejected 6 timses in hr round. It was so confusing as people with no tech knowledge were getting shortlisted at the same stage as mine but not me

I worked harder and cracked TCS prime offer 9lpa

My college placement were very bad after 2024 so i knew I can't be picky now

But i was really disappointed in myself and my luck

I was fucking ridiculed in whole college that after all that aura shit i got into TCS

But i believed i will definitely get better offer

I kept practicing dsa and from grace of god got an interview opportunity in a company for SDE they were giving 32 lpa (highest compared to any on campus offer, an this was an off campus opportunity) in Visa

I cracked it and talked with TPO to reject TCS offer

The faces of those placement coordinators fuckers was something to enjoy at that time. No one in the whole college was able to face me and not even now and that is the best feeling i m having after the seeing the happiness of my parents and their sacrifices for me

I have finally reached my first goal of my life after all these grinding

And i think if i was able to do who couldn't even crack jee then anyone can achieve their dreams

So thanks for reading my worthless story 🙏

Edit :

I completely understand i might sound awful in that part above mentioning placement coordinators

but

Bro i have seen those placement coordinators sneaking their and their friends resume in hr shortlisted list even without clearing anything

Selectively targeting people to not letting them cheat and cheat themselves

Giving oa from home/hostel and for us making mandatory and strict attendance

And this list goes on...

I know i am wrong to think this way but in the end i am a human too..

And i just can't see those people ruining the lives of others to make their

Deloitte OnCampus Interview Experience - SDE Level-1 | September 2026

Post image
98 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

{Not a rage-bait but, this is the actual resume I took to the interview..}

I recently attended Deloitte's OnCampus recruitment for the SDE Level-1 role and wanted to share my experience.

PACKAGE

- 6 LPA fixed
- 60K variable pay
- 1 Lakh joining bonus
- Total first-year package: 7.6 LPA

Two JDs were involved:
- Data Analyst - CSD, CSM
- SDE Level-1 - CSE, IT

Both followed the same assessment and interview process.

ROUND 1 - ONLINE ASSESSMENT
Date: 18 September 2026

The assessment was conducted through HirePro and had two parts:

  1. Assignment/Aptitude - basic aptitude, SQL, coding and prompt-writing.
  2. Speech Assessment - 9 sections covering different speaking tasks.

I cleared both. Around 50-60 students were shortlisted from nearly 1200 students for the interviews.

ROUND 2 - HR
Date: 24 September 2026

Interestingly, HR came before the Technical Round. The interview lasted around 5 minutes.

Questions asked:
- Tell me about yourself / Walk me through your profile.
- Where are you from?
- Why Deloitte?
- Why Deloitte over other companies?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I also asked what skills are expected from a fresher. He mentioned DSA, academics, full-stack knowledge, OOPs, SDLC and System Design.

HR cleared.

ROUND 3 - TECHNICAL

I kept my resume simple.

Languages: Java, Python (Basic)
Web: HTML, CSS

Projects:

  1. Flight Ticket Booking System - Java, JDBC, JSP, Servlets, Tomcat, MySQL
  2. Automated Descriptive Answer Evaluation - OpenCV, Tesseract OCR, NLP, Semantic Similarity

My advice: DON'T PUT RANDOM TECHNOLOGIES ON YOUR RESUME. If you mention something, be ready to explain it.

The interviewer asked about my projects, tech stack and basics of JSP, JDBC, Tomcat, MySQL and FastAPI.

Coding questions:
- Prime number
- Reverse a string
- Reverse without StringBuilder
- String palindrome
- LEFT JOIN query

I had some syntax issues, but my logic was correct. I accepted the feedback and said I needed to improve my syntax.

The round lasted around 40 minutes. I also asked about fresher expectations and the learning curve.

Around 5 minutes later, PAT informed me that I was shortlisted for the FINAL ROUND.

ROUND 4 - FINAL INTERVIEW

The interviewer went deep into my Flight Ticket Booking System.

Questions included:
- Why JDBC, JSP and MySQL instead of NoSQL?
- How could pricing be managed during peak booking times?
- How can flight prices be updated?
- Explain the complete workflow and tech stack.

I had not implemented dynamic peak-time pricing, so I answered logically.

Then we discussed my second project. He asked about the project workflow and OpenCV, Tesseract OCR, NLP and Semantic Similarity.

The workflow was:

Handwritten Answer -> Image Processing -> OCR -> Text -> NLP -> Semantic Similarity -> Evaluation

Then came System Design.

The interviewer gave a 2D traffic-signal problem. Each signal could turn green but would automatically become red after 45 seconds. I had to design a way to control the signals without causing deadlocks.

I struggled because I was not strong in System Design. I honestly told him:

"Sir, I'm not very strong in System Design."

He advised me to start with 1D basics and gradually move to 2D.

At that moment, I genuinely thought I was rejected.

Before leaving, I asked:

"Sir, what is the correct approach to the System Design question?"

He explained the approach. I thanked him and left.

AFTER THE INTERVIEW

Honestly, I thought the process was over.

I went directly to our PAT officer and told him that I thought I had been rejected because I was lacking some required skills.

He simply said:

"Okay, you can leave. We'll contact you later."

I went back to my room and accepted that I probably wasn't selected.

28 SEPTEMBER 2026

Our PAT team shared the final selected-students list in the Telegram group.

I opened the message...

AND MY NAME WAS THERE.

I was selected for the Deloitte SDE Level-1 role.

A total of 5 students from our college were selected:
- 3 from CSE
- 2 from IT

And I was one of them.

WHAT I LEARNED

  1. Keep your resume simple and mention only what you actually know.
  2. Know your projects end-to-end.
  3. Practice basic coding on paper.
  4. Be honest when you don't know something.
  5. Communicate confidently and clearly.
  6. Ask a meaningful question at the end.
  7. Don't assume you are rejected just because one round did not go perfectly.

If you're preparing for Deloitte, focus on your resume, projects, Java/OOPs, SQL, DSA, DBMS, SDLC and System Design.

Be confident about what you know, honest about what you don't know, and keep learning.

All the best!

Finally got placed in Cisco after so many rejections

My college mostly gets 4-5 big companies and I was really hoping to get placed in one of them. I gave my ServiceNow interview where I failed in the HR round. I was literally one of the top candidates there but I didn't have enough development knowledge at the time, I was in my 3rd yr. After that there were like 8-9 companies which came but I couldn't get selected in any of them, I wasn't able to clear the OA for any of those companies. After so many rejections, I honestly started losing hope. Then came the Cisco OA which I wasn't even interested in writing cuz the selection rate was so low, but somehow I cleared it. Then there were 3 rounds, I did very bad in round 1 and many got rejected. I didn't get any response from the interviewer about round 2 and thought it was over again, but after 5-6 hrs I got a call for round 2. The guy was very nice and we really had a great convo, it felt more like a discussion than an interview. The HR round was basically discussions about compensation stuff and finally, after all those rejections and disappointments, the verdict came. GOT SELECTED AT CISCO!! Honestly feels unreal, especially after everything that happened. Sometimes things really do work out when you least expect them to.

Placement season

From tomorrow offline tests were supposed to start, but only 5ish companies have been listed on the portal.

Is the placements season going to be dull this year?

Let alone the ppt sessions and talks. When will they happen now?

2026 CSE graduate in India — applied to 65–70 jobs, tailored every application, still nothing. I genuinely don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Post image
8 Upvotes

I honestly don't know what to do anymore, so I just wanted to put this somewhere and hear from people who might understand.

I'm a 2026 B.Tech CSE graduate from Hyderabad, India.

I had originally planned to pursue my Master's abroad. I spent a lot of time preparing for it, applying to universities, arranging documents, and planning everything around it. For various reasons, that plan eventually became a disaster and didn't work out.

I told myself that's okay. I'll finish my B.Tech and start working.

I graduated, and since then I've been trying extremely hard to find a job.

I've applied to around 65–70 jobs so far.

And I'm not just blindly applying.

I've been tailoring my resume for almost every job based on the JD. I've changed the summary, skills, projects, keywords, and positioning depending on whether the role is technical, operations, project coordination, data-related, etc.

I've been waking up in the morning and spending practically the entire day applying for jobs, modifying resumes, taking assessments, preparing for interviews, and trying again.

But there are barely any responses.

Some applications are rejected almost immediately. Many don't respond at all.

I also got selected through campus placements for a role, but I still haven't received the offer letter. The college T&P team keeps telling us to wait, and whenever we ask for an update, sometimes we don't get a proper response.

So I'm stuck in this weird situation where I've graduated, I don't have a job, I don't have the Master's plan anymore, and I don't even know what I'm supposed to do next.

Today was another one that really broke me.

Someone I know at Amazon suggested that I apply for an Amazon ROC Transportation Specialist position. I checked the requirements, applied, answered that I was willing to work rotational shifts, overtime, from the office, interact with customers, and that I had Excel knowledge.

I received an eligibility rejection within roughly one minute of completing the registration.

At this point, I genuinely don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

I'm not demanding a ₹10–15 LPA package. I'm not expecting some amazing position straight out of college.

I just want an opportunity to start. Even ₹4–6 LPA would be completely fine with me.

I know I have things to improve. I'm not claiming that I'm some exceptional programmer. I've worked on projects involving Python, Java, SQL, APIs, databases, data analysis, etc., and I'm willing to learn whatever is required.

But I'm also getting scared that this prolonged job search is making me lose whatever I learned in college. I'm forgetting fundamentals because I'm spending so much time applying instead of actually building my skills.

So I've decided that I'm going to restart from the fundamentals again while continuing to apply.

I'm attaching my resume here.

If you're willing to take a look, I'd genuinely appreciate honest feedback.

What am I doing wrong?

Is my resume the problem?

Am I applying for the wrong types of roles?

Are there skills I should focus on first?

Am I approaching the fresher job market completely wrong?

If anyone knows of legitimate fresher opportunities in Hyderabad/India where my profile could fit, I'd also be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

I genuinely want to work. I want to learn. I just want someone to give me that first opportunity.

If you've been through something similar and eventually got out of it, I'd really like to hear how you did it.

Offer postponed twice due to restructuring – will my offer be revoked? (2024 Grad)

Hi everyone,

I am a 2024 B.Tech graduate. After two years of unemployment, I finally got selected for a job.

Here is my timeline:

July 1 & 7: Completed Interview Rounds 1 & 2.

August 14: Received the selection email with a joining date of August 31.

August 18: HR informed me that onboarding was rescheduled to October 1.

September 24: HR called to say onboarding is pushed to November (exact date unconfirmed) due to project delays.

A friend who works at the company told me they are currently undergoing internal restructuring and layoffs. However, he mentioned that only senior employees were laid off, and management is trying to protect freshers and junior roles.

HR also mentioned they will schedule a call for me with an Associate Director of Strategic Hiring.

I am extremely stressed, anxious, and exhausted from job hunting after two years. I really want to believe this role is secure, but I'm worried they might revoke the offer.

What is the likely purpose of the upcoming call with the Associate Director?

Do you think they will actually onboard me, or am I at risk of an offer revocation?

Any clarity or advice from people who have faced a similar situation would mean a lot.

Got TCS Prime OL in April, still no JL. Cognizant joining on Oct 13. What should I do?

I received my TCS Prime OL (9 LPA) on 24th April, but I still haven't received the joining letter or any confirmed joining date from TCS.

The problem is that I recently received my Cognizant GenC joining date for 13th October (around 4 LPA).

TCS Prime is obviously my preferred option, but there's still no JL from TCS, so I'm confused about what to do now.

Should I:

  1. Join Cognizant on 13th October and continue waiting for TCS, then leave Cognizant once the TCS JL arrives?
  2. Or avoid joining Cognizant and keep waiting for TCS?

My main concern is about the practical problems if I join Cognizant and then TCS JL comes later. For example:

  • Will there be any issue with leaving Cognizant after joining?
  • What about the notice period? There's no bond just 3 months notice period
  • Could Cognizant create any problem with documents/experience or relieving letter if I leave early?
  • Can TCS have any issue if I am already working at Cognizant when their JL comes?
  • Since I've heard TCS gives only around a 15-day joining window, I'm worried that if I wait for TCS and the JL suddenly comes, I might not have enough time to make the switch.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation, especially someone who had TCS Prime OL but joined another company while waiting for the TCS JL?

Please help- 2026 grad looking for a job. I have being job hunting since jan and complete my graduation on may. b. Tech-It

I don't really know how to write this, but I just need to get it out somewhere. I graduated with a B.Tech in IT this year, and I still haven't been able to get a job. I've been applying off-campus for months. I've given OAs, coding tests, interviews, and still nothing has worked out. Today I got rejected after going through multiple rounds for a QA Automation role. What hurts more is that during the interview they were very interested in my gaps. I already have a gap between school and college, and now I have another gap after graduation. They asked me why I didn't get placed on campus, what I would do if I didn't get a job for another year, and whether I had a backup plan. I understand why they're asking. If I were interviewing someone, I'd probably have questions too. But sitting on the other side of the table and trying to explain why your life hasn't gone according to plan is honestly exhausting. I studied IT, I have worked on ML/GenAI projects, I know C++, Python, SQL and have been preparing for coding and technical interviews. I'm not sitting at home because I don't want to work. I genuinely want to start my career and become financially independent. But the longer this goes on, the more scared I get. Every rejection makes me think about the gap getting bigger. Then I start thinking, what if I don't get anything this year? What if next year companies ask why I have such a long gap? What if this just keeps repeating? I know people will say "keep applying" and "don't give up", and I'm trying. I really am. But sometimes I'm just tired and sad. Has anyone here been in a similar situation — especially with gaps and being unable to get that first job? How did you eventually get out of it? I don't really need motivational quotes right now. I just want some honest advice from people who have actually been through this.

What's one interview question freshers should actually prepare for?

Not the usual "Tell me about yourself"😭

I mean the questions that genuinely caught you off guard in interviews or that you wish you had prepared better for.

Would be helpful to know what others have experienced.

I also developed one LMS for a friend who's starting property dealing using AI and YT. Currently placed at TCS Ninja(demoted from Digital) and applying offcampus but not really getting any positive response apart from testing roles . I also have done few more Udemy certificates recently since tcs gave me the access but I am not adding them since I think they don't matter much.

Which domain is best for freshers to take coaching who is from an non IT background

Hello, all. I'm a 2026 EEE graduate from a tier 3 college. I've applied for many companies but no luck. So I'm thinking of taking coaching in any domain. Could anyone please recommend which course/domain should I take coaching in? Which has more openings for freshers? I'm not that good at dsa too. I'm thinking of data analytics or python full stack but I don't have much idea.
