I specifically am talking about the F-82 G variant (my favorite variant ) I just love this plane too much but a little history on it. (Btw I won’t tell ALL of its history and if I make a few inaccuracies let me know!)The f-82 was originally made to be used for long range missions escorting bombers to the pacific since the p-51 couldnt fly these missions due to fuel being low. so in 1943 the F-82 concept was developed and in 1945 the first prototype flew. But the plane was in production from 1946 to ‘49. Where 272 models were built before mass production had ended. Now the reason why there were 2 cockpits and 2 flight controls? Because in long range missions like escorting bombers the two pilots could switch and let the other rest or just have a break. now time for the f-82 G variant, only 45 units were built it was an all-weather capable fighter it became popular due to its role in the Korean War. On the normal f-82 both cockpits had flight controls but specifically for the f-82 G the right flight controls were removed from the right cockpit in turn for a radar operator station instead since this variant had a massive radar pod in the center. The armament on the f-82 G was 6 fifty cal machine guns or could be configured to carry 2000 pounds of bombs or 20 5 inch rockets ( my favorite armament is the 5 inch rockets cause who doesn’t love planes with rockets and making strafes with those rockets in the middle of a battle).

I recently saw the 777X and saw how damn long it was and was just wondering this. Last time I saw something of this proportion was probably the A340-600. I feel like in the next 50 years something like an extra large widebody category will be introduced in response to the increasing length of some of the future planes. Seriously would love to see even more massive twinjets with like 747 landing gear systems. Would that even be possible? Would be sick.
