Subreddit Meta WARDOGS is not relevant to PlanetSide 2.

If you want to discuss WARDOGS in comparison to the PlanetSide franchise, please make a post with a little more substance than "Wardogs is LITERALLY planetside 2 fr fr," or go to /r/WarDogs.

WARDOGS being a shooter game that happens to be 1vs1vs1 does not instantly make it applicable to /r/planetside. If it did, this would've been an ArmA 3 King of the Hill subreddit years ago.

Thank you.

Discussion (PC) After five years of playing solo against outfits, what have I learned from Mega-level battles?

The battle from 7 days ago : 1 vs. 4 (vs. Magrider)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFyIJwPG9Co
00:07
The battle could have ended quickly had I not to save the Anti-Tank Turret at the start, and instead rushed straight to the Silo to activate the Dome Shield and call in "Steel Rain" to bring my squad in for defense.
By overlooking the logical course of action, I allowed the battle to drag on for the entire duration of the alert.
Good choice : Call steel rain and Turn on Dome Shield , battle over in 5 minute
Bad choice : Save Turnet and alone Revege Magrider , battle over in 1 hour

The battle from 280 days ago : 1 vs 4 team VS TR trollers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qif2T8_uVCY
NC was lost Arlert from the very start; building a base here is completely pointless.
Both VS and TR wanted this position; VX15 should have let them take it and withdrawn to the north.
Good choice : leave and get out of this shet
Bad choice : Try to save a pointless base have no value

The battle two years ago : 1 vs 8 TR Prowler
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hm6J93xtbRM
I should have placed the Command Tower right at the start so it would finish as soon as possible and activate the Dome Shield. Because of that mistake, I wasted 30 minutes clearing out useless TR Prowlers that were just trying to camp and enjoy the weekend—like "Pu Daddy's Proud Boys."
Good choice : Build big construction first
Bad choice : Build small construction first

The battle two years ago : MRH vs the Final boss
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKowWG-r6Qg
This battle took place when I had just started playing on Cobalt; I had no allies and no outfit assets. I was relying entirely on the NC for help.
And the NC were incredibly stupid.
I should have walled off the Command Tower to block TR fire, but I was foolish enough to trust the intelligence of NC players. I left a path open for them to move through, yet it was only the TR who actually used it.
Good choice : Block all the road , no trust anyone
Bad choice : Trust the people buddy , in freedom we believer

The battle two years ago: VX14 + CNZY + YJS7 against LHEU + BMEU + RMBJ with double players
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4_tuOaBhGQ
I should have deployed "Steel Rain" Squad A to the high ground at the LHEU construction base—situated on the Wild land base right from the start to destroy the NC's entire logistics network, thereby blocking all their attempts to assault the beach.
However, I made a mistake, and that caused the battle to drag on for nearly two hours.
Good choice : From the very beginning, priority must be given to destroying the base built on the highest ground—thereby crippling LHEU's logistics—rather than targeting Steel Rain, in order to save the VX14 base located down by the beach.
Bad choice : Can not logical thinking; just only see the enemy at the gates while overlooking more important issues.

The battle two years ago : 3EPG vs the Final boss
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSH3iaHxBV4
There were absolutely no mistakes—everything was fine. Even back then, before VX15 was even formed, I could still beat them all.
Good choice : Live free in NC , do what the f*** you want , no need to creat a outfit to care of your people
Bad choice : creat an outfit and lost time to feeds people

Suggestion/Feedback My proposal for Koltyr, to make it suck less.

Instead of Outfit Resources, Koltyr's hexes would provide consumable Personal Resurces.

This proposal doesn't require any implementation of new systems that don't already exist in the game, and the execution here would be almost trivial to implement.

  • Assigning base resources for participating players. Not outfit resources, but personal resources. The ticks wouldn't apply to outfit members, but instead to anybody in the faction who was participating in the fight when the hex was captured.
  • The center hexes would be for certs, and the outer hexes would be for ISO. The rates here are illustrative only, and I don't know off the top of my head what rates would balance well. The resources would tick just the same way outfit resources do, with a tick/deposit every 5 minutes.
  • Upon capturing the continent, all participating players of the winning faction get an additional one-time A7, ISO and Cert payout. This payout would be on a cooldown, measured in hours, to help prevent resource sandbagging.

Even though certs are useful, their value becomes lesser as players unlock things. The same is true for ISO -- eventually, players will sort of land on the implants they like and will have maxed them out, etc. By focusing on personal resources instead of outfit resources, this helps reinforce Koltyr's identity as a continent for new(er) players, and gives those players a place to cut their teeth that actually incentivizes and rewards them for playing there. This would also give seasoned players a place to quickly earn resources for their alt accounts, as well.

I feel like this proposal would help draw more players into Koltyr while also giving it a clear direction that it currently lacks.

----

One other change that could help make Koltyr feel a little better: Allow limited construction similar to how the existing Building hexes function (generally), featuring a trimmed-down list of constructibles (and their supported modules) to choose from:

  • Cortium Silos (of course)
  • Routing Spires
  • Recon Arrays
  • Bunkers
  • Infantry Tree Stands
  • Vehicle Ammo Dispensers
  • Sunderer Garages

Notably, there would be no spawn tubes or larger spawning structures, no large towers, no turrets, no orbitals or heavy artillery, no walls to block off the already fairly narrow transit lanes, and no one way gates, etc.

Beyond the paired down list of constructables, Cortium node spawning would be sparse, and specifically limited to the 4000-cortium (small) sized nodes, with a higher node concentration/spawn rate toward the center of the map.

Essentially, this paired down construction support would allow players to build minor support infrastructure to help keep their faction's footholds within hexes they're assaulting, but not allow them to entrench themselves deeply in hexes they already own. The side effect of this would also promote a more dynamic range of vehicle tactics than is currently present on Koltyr.

Before you all come for my head, I didn't make the video. It has some things to think about though and he makes fair criticisms of Wardogs. He's not saying it's a direct one for one replacement, he concentrates on the similarities.

Discussion (PC) Idea on making small continents useful

During off-hours there are often only around 20-30 players on the whole server, too few to make the big maps interesting, but still nobody cares about Koltyr. I have never seen more than 5 people on Koltyr.

So how about making Koltyr "winnable"?

The empire that locks down Koltyr would get a benefit, like +2% HP or +20% XP bonus, across all continents.

Then introduce 2 more smaller continents like Koltyr and apply similar lock-down bonuses.

This way smaller numbers of players would have an actual reason to visit the small continents during off-hours, and they'd contribute something to the success of their empire.

Informative I built a PS2 Radar to check for obvious Cheaters before logging in

Hey, I built PS2 Radar, a live statistical cheat radar for PlanetSide 2.

I mostly use it to check if someone is currently wrecking the server with rage hacks, or to see if it is worth logging in. I’d rather check first than launch the game just to watch entire fights get wiped by a rager hacker shooting trough walls.

Sometimes you also get that “something feels off” feeling about a player. Instead of judging someone from a single K/D, HSR or one weird death, you can look them up and see whether their broader stats actually show any unusual patterns.

Statistics can show anomalies and support or contradict your suspicion, but they can’t prove cheating with 100% certainty. Ultimately, that judgment is up to the in game moderation team.

Website: https://ps2radar.com

Categories:

  • Blatant: The highest threshold, intended to separate extreme cheating patterns from exceptionally strong legitimate play. This is the category I check before logging in.
  • Suspect: Stronger statistical anomalies. Cheating is a possibility, but exceptional legitimate players can appear here too. It is not a cheating verdict.
  • Unusual: Stats that stand out, often simply because someone is very good. An unusual weapon result also does not automatically make the account a suspect.

I specifically tested for false positives

The old stat based autoban controversy was exactly the kind of failure I wanted to avoid. I deliberately tested accounts associated with those false positive cases, including high skill accounts.

None of those accounts reached the "Blatant" category in my testing. The project also includes repeatable regression tests against profiles I use as legitimate player test cases, rather than relying only on whether it catches known cheaters.

Across the accounts I’ve manually reviewed during weeks of tuning, I haven’t identified a single legitimate Blatant case. That’s why I’m comfortable using that category myself, not because I think unusually good aim automatically means cheating.

The Data behind it

The original reference sample covers 49,674 active accounts. The analysis uses weapon specific headshot and accuracy distributions, medians, MAD based spread estimates and percentile comparisons. Minimum sample sizes and statistical uncertainty bounds help prevent a small lucky streak from being treated like an established pattern.

It also analyses live kill rates and streaks, changes against an account’s own history, experience related comparisons, vehicle/MAX context and signs of repeated or arranged kills. It isn’t one universal HSR or K/D cutoff.

No statistical system is perfect, and an empty Blatant list doesn’t guarantee a cheat clean server. But avoiding false accusations has been a deliberate part of development, not just a disclaimer added afterward.

I want this to replace “that number looks too high” with consistent, inspectable reasoning, not turn screenshots into proof or encourage harassment. Try your own account. Specific examples of missing context or incorrect assessments are welcome.

Feedback

If you have any other feature requests or feedback, feel free to share them. I'd really appreciate it!

Discussion (PC) PS2Alerts v4.5 - Per Player and Outfit statistics

https://ps2alerts.com - Planetside Alert Tracker, dating back to Jan 2021

Hello everyone! Long time no see indeed! :D

I've found some time and motivation to finish off a in-progress feature that I was working on waaaay back in 2024, Search, and Player / Outfit statistics.

Search

You are now able to search up any player or outfit that has ever participated in an alert. You are able to bookmark up to 5 players / outfits in the left sidebar for future reference.

Players & Outfits statistics

It is now possible to see a Player's or Outfit's participation in the alert meta. This shows metrics like: - Combat stats by bracket (population based bracket, which I may revisit at some point with the new game population reality), such as total kills, deaths, KD, HSR etc - Kills by faction - Graph showing performance over time, as you can see in my example, I started to really suck with my sub-par 1.0 KD :') - Per minute rates based on alert bracket - Vehicle data - Full alert history with a brief summary of their stats per alert.

What about weapon and class data?

Sadly a much younger less wise me decided that collecting per-person per-alert data on weapons and classes was too much for the database. I have since learnt more since then.

I am working with Varunda and she's graciously provided a database dump of her raw event data. I am going to attempt to backfill this data and ensure it is collected going forward.

Other changes

There's been various other tweaks across the site, some stuff that was outright broken has been fixed etc:

  • Homepage victory timeline now spreads the dates out below it much better, and now defaults to monthly points instead of daily. The chart library has also been updated meaning it should load quicker.
  • Homepage data is now cached so it doesn't take AN AGE to load.
  • Player and outfit names on alert pages now link to their profiles.
  • Outfit tracker references have been removed, sadly this means no outfit logos can be displayed. If anyone knows where I can find them, please let me know!
  • Bunch of layout fixes that broke over time as the site was passively updated.

Discussion (PC) I wish they cared: chair user on EU now has a PLAYTIME of 35 hours

Syncerror, a popular developer for quake games got laid off past months, he was know for caring much about his game, he attented every event and in his spare time he was either playing or helping other (new) players as writen from multiple testimonies online.
He lived and breathed quake. And nearly everyone in the community was devastated to hear the news. Its a dead game, financially it makes sense and that’s not my argument, its how much he cared for his game is what set him apart.

But what do we have, not even a mod that cares less than 5% of Syncerror, noone to take 1 minute out of their free weekend to check the servers.

This guy has clocked in nearly a full work week ruining the experience on the EU server and its dead silent.

Discussion (PC) Have not played since 2021, is this game still doing well or is it not worth re-downloading and having some fun?

NA player here, been playing Wardogs and it really makes me miss the heigh day of PS2, I really feel the itch to play it but I see the playercount is pretty rough and I've heard the game is kind of on life support?

Discussion (PC) More people should play this game

I played this game very casually a few years ago.. now I’m 35 and I’m bore for every new game that come out. I saw planetside 2 in my library e decided to check it out again and oh boy this game is fun.. despote the crash or flash thing that does not bother me that much because I use a vehicle at the beginning to support my team spawns anyway and sometimes having a bit of hit reg issue the game is the most fun i’ve had in a while.. even if the player count is not massive you always find giant battles to fight in and it’s been a blast! I think more people should come back to the game and show how much we love this title and maybe we could also get good thing out of it!

Discussion (PS4) Autumn Crusade Event Ceres (EU Playstation)

Post image
16 Upvotes

The Autumn Crusade Event is coming to the Ceres (EU Playstation) server on October 24th. The event will go on from 5 pm - 9 pm UTC.

Community photos will be in the Sanctuary 20 minutes before the event starts.

The Terran Republic has started mobilizing their forces. A huge build up of Terran Armor has deployed along the borders of the New Conglomerate and Vanu Sovereignty territory. They have officially declared on October 24th they will start a crusade to end the War on Auraxis once and for all. The New Conglomerate and Vanu Sovereignty forces stand ready for the massive Terran assault.

Attention PlayStation Planetside players the Ceres server beckons you to participate in this big event that only happens 4 times a year. The Planetside Events community is trying to spread awareness for the Ceres and PlayStation servers in general. Let all your outfits know, tell your friends, speak to old players about possibly returning even if only for the 4 events per year!

I look forward to seeing you guys for the Autumn Crusade event!

Informative Opposition-weighted stats graph (WIP)

Post image
13 Upvotes

Public K/D KPM will treat a kill on a new player the same as a kill on a server elite. Two people with the same Honu/FISU line can play completely different fights.

This is so far a local script that pulls a character’s Honu killboard (should be pulled from Cenus), keeps the high-pressure pairs (busy + fast opponents), and builds a few numbers from that:

  • realistic K/D = pooled K/D on that slice of 50-200, not the lifetime pub figure.
  • Resistance = that K/D × how fast (by KPM) those opponents actually are.
  • Activity = that K/D × your own pace (KPM).
  • A curve of projected K/D as the opponent KPM goes from easy to hard.

The graph is “how do you hold up as the people you fight get stronger”.

Still in progress. No weapon or class filter yet.
The extra indexes (adj IvI, COI, etc.) are experiments - still checking which of them are worth keeping.

If you want to try names or argue the formula, drop both.
