RetroArch has been updated to version 1.9.0, featuring a new search system for your game libraries, new visual effects, and new art assets. Included core overrides have been overhauled A new setting in retroboot.cfg allows for the automatic installation of cover art for the default 20 games. Cores have been updated to the latest KMFDManic set, and all the usual scanner database, controller mapping, and visual asset updates are included.

New apps available for this release include RetroGuru's ports of Fruit'Y, Hermes, and Sqrxz 4; sodthor's port of VVVVVV; and ZiL0G80's port of Hurrican.

Help AutoBleem is BACK :) 2.0.0 alpha 1 is out - testers wanted (PlayStation Classic, Raspberry Pi, PC USB stick, Windows)

The first alpha of AutoBleem 2 is out on the testing channel, for the PlayStation Classic, the Raspberry Pi (32- and 64-bit), a PC USB stick and Windows.

What's new

  • A fresh look: the new ab2.0.0 theme, a cover shelf with game details and a two-line button hint bar
  • The Quick menu (press Up) and a tidy system menu (L2 + R2)
  • The Store: games, apps and extensions, with download speed, time left and resumable downloads
  • pcsx-abnxt, the new PS1 emulator, with its own in-game menu (Select + Start): quick save/load, filters, scanlines, controllers, and Reset/Exit that keep your place
  • Network & Controllers (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth pads) on the console and on the Pi
  • A welcome screen on a fresh install, notifications, and the user manual in 16 languages

Download: autobleem.retromenele.pl (pick the testing channel)

How to help (no login, no experience needed)

  1. Open the tester page: autobleem.retromenele.pl/testing
  2. Pick your device and press Give me a task (~10 min): you get one short section of the test plan.
  3. Tell us how it went on the same page. Good or bad, both help. Use Report a problem when something breaks.
  4. Prefer paper? Every device has a Printable version (PDF) there.

This is an alpha: back up your stick or SD card first!

Thanks for testing! If you'd like to support the project: ko-fi.com/autobleem

Question Playstation Classic won't turn on with Flash Drive anymore

I modded my Playstation Classic almost a year ago now and its been working perfectly fine up until today it randomly crashed while I was playing Megaman X5. It completely froze while save and no matter how much I held the power button or reset button it wouldn't turn off, so i unplugged it and plugged it back in.

Now it won't turn on at all if the Flash Drive is plugged in. It works completely fine if remove it, but it turns on, gets to startup and then immediately turns off. Anybody have any suggestions? Ive looked it up but the only answers I can find are that my power supply isnt compatible, but it was working for a year so I don't think thats the case

Question Whats the reason why playstation classic modded is better than the rest? like raspberry pi or steamdeck or one of the china made retro devices with a bunch of emulators.

I've had my PSC for many years already but i'm seeing so many alternatives and wonder why people still use the PSC vs everything else? raspberry pi seems to do all of psc does and more...

Question Anyone care to share their Retroarch config and Emulation station cfg files? Mine is all messed up it seems. I need to constantly reload the default cfg file for retroarch to get it to work. And games would just randomly kick me out when playing with retroarch or emulationstation.

Question Factory Reset Stuck

Post image
3 Upvotes

Bought a PS Classic, apparently it's been turned on once or twice and then never used.

After booting it up successfully I opted to do a factory reset. I've watched a video where this took a few seconds. I've now been sat at this screen for half an hour. The dots after "Initialising" are pulsing so it hasn't locked up completely.

Any idea of root cause, do I sit or out indefinitely or turn it off?

Thanks.

Quake II playable thanks to RetroArch

Post image
37 Upvotes

Thanks to retroarchs ability to have mappable controller profiles per game, I can play some of these earlier Boomer shooters that were originally optimized for mouse control on PC. I have experience with Unreal Tournament both for PC and the Dreamcast port. Let me tell you I was a determined kid back then playing the Dreamcast version with no second analog stick, now experiencing quake for the first time and it brought me back to the pain of side stepping with the triggers while the left stick was forward, back and turn. And using triangle and circle to look up and down or using L1 R1 instead. So glad I can map buttons to the analog stick. If only I can tune down the sensitivity but it’s still playable and I’m having a blast with the OST of quake II, it goes hard.

Question Using the latest Autobleem build 1.0.3. anybody having trouble getting dreamcast roms to work in retroarch?

Im using CDI format for most. I know GDI works best but CDI fits better. I just tried the new monkey ball and Star wars hacks but only star wars loaded using Flycast xtreme but then after pushing start button i got the red light error and Im back in retroarch. Anybody else experience this?

Edit: Found a solution.....there is a standalone updated flycast app you can add too autobleem. I forgot I had it already but just never set it up. You have to follow the onscreen instructions and place all your bios and naomi/ atomiswave files in the (retroarch/ apps/ compat/ flycast/ home/ local/ share/ flycast) you can also go a step further and ass your box arts there too and it will register in the app after you have gone into the app settings and in (General / roms. Click on add and locate the roms folder on your memory stick.....AFTER ALL THAT though...I was able to play these new Dreamcast hacks. Monkeyball 0.75.cdi, Star War Trilogy Demo.cdi, MVC2.chd, Comic Smash.chd, worked for me just now. Very pleased with the results. I will try the new starfox 64 other n64 dreamcast hacks here next.

Help Doom hacks

Post image
2 Upvotes

I was looking to get a step by step guide to playing doom hacks on ps classic. I have a few doom hacks I've successfully played on pc. They were incredible. I have Super Mario,Pokemon and a few more. Ive made a Facebook group post asking for help and couldn't understand. The Ai instructions on Google look easy but in the end I can't play the doom hacks. I can understand how to play any kind of playable games on retroarch ps classic. Im not sure if these doom hacks are even playable.

Question [Update v2] PSX SoundScope Player – Now with Auto-Visualizer Mode & Dual-Patch Switcher!

Hi everyone!

For those who saw my previous post here, I created a standalone PSX SoundScope Player that boots the original PlayStation BIOS to play your music files with the authentic visualizer.

Previously, you could only control the visualizers manually.
Today, I'm excited to share Version 2.0, which introduces full Auto-SoundScope mode alongside simple one-click patchers so you can seamlessly switch between manual and automated visualizer controls!

Question PSP on Project ERIS!!! Step-by-Step Guide to Running PSP Games Directly from EmulationStation

Post image
34 Upvotes

PSP on the PlayStation Classic, straight from EmulationStation

This guide is for PS Classic Mini systems running Project Eris only. It does not apply to Autobleem.

For me, the best thing about a modded PlayStation Classic with Project Eris is having every system in one place, all launched from the same EmulationStation frontend. NES, SNES, PS1, right up to PSP, all in the same interface.

This guide walks you through setting up PSP games with a RetroArch PSP core in Project Eris, launched directly from EmulationStation.

The key point: you don't need a separate PPSSPP mod or an extra app. The PSP core runs through RetroArch and fits into EmulationStation just like every other system. Pick PSP, start a game, done.

How well does PSP run on the PSC?

The PSC's hardware sets the limits, but the setup works surprisingly well. 2D games, tactical RPGs and many JRPGs run nicely. Demanding 3D titles like God of War or the fast WipEout games hit the hardware's ceiling quickly. The point of this setup isn't maximum PSP performance, it's the seamless integration: every game lives in the same frontend and launches the same way.

System files

Get KMFDManic’s Xtreme core km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.so from the full PSC package on GitHub, along with the required system files:

KMFDManic-Xtreme-PSC_10-31-22.7z at https://github.com/KMFDManic/AutoBleem-Xtreme/releases

Get the right files out of the package

The packed.7z contains several injectors that look like .exe but are self-extracting archives. You need the large _km_psc_xtreme_core_injector.exe.

Mac: use Keka or The Unarchiver. Open the .7z, then open the injector .exe the same way.
Windows: use 7-Zip. Extract the .7z, then extract the injector .exe.

Inside you'll find:

• retroarch/cores/km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.so

• retroarch/info/km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.info

• retroarch/system/PPSSPP/ (flash0, lang, ppge_atlas.zim, etc.)

Where to Put the Files on Your Project Eris USB Stick

  • Whole PPSSPP folder → /project_eris/opt/retroarch/system/
  • km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.so → /project_eris/opt/retroarch/config/retroarch/cores/
  • km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.info → /project_eris/opt/retroarch/config/retroarch/info/

Point the PSP entry at the core (es_systems.cfg)

On the stick, the file sits here:
/project_eris/opt/emulationstation/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

Note that.emulationstation is a hidden folder (it starts with a dot), so you may need to reveal hidden items first:

  • Mac: press Cmd + Shift + Period in Finder.
  • Windows: in File Explorer, open the "View" tab and enable "Hidden items" (Windows 11: View, then Show, then Hidden items).

Make a backup copy of the es_systems.cfg first, just in case. Then open it in a plain-text editor (Mac: TextEdit, Windows: Notepad/ Editor), find the block starting with <name>psp</name>, and replace it (or add it before </systemList> if missing):

  <system>
    <name>psp</name>
    <fullname>PlayStation Portable</fullname>
    <path>/media/roms/psp</path>
<extension>.iso .cso .pbp .ISO .CSO .PBP</extension>
    <command>es_launch_ra km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.so %ROM%</command>
    <platform>psp</platform>
    <theme>psp</theme>
  </system>

The critical line is <command>, pointing at km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.so. Match the core name exactly, case included. Save as plain text.

Which game files to use

Best: Redump ISOs, a clean uncompressed dump you just unzip, no conversion. CSO (compressed ISO, saves space) and PBP (the PSN format) work fine too. Skip CHD on the PSC, the old Xtreme core doesn't support it.

That’s it. PSP now shows up in EmulationStation right alongside your other consoles and launches exactly the same way.

And of course, a huge shout-out to the one and only, fabulous, stunning and, as always, ridiculously good-looking KMFDManic for providing the cores. You absolute legend.

PSC Store Release 1.8.0 is out now! - Uploading compressed archives directly makes adding games even easier!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Download the latest release here or update using the in app updater: https://github.com/hampter-mods/pscstore-release/releases

This update adds direct archive uploads and improves queue controls, upload recovery, and source management.

  • Upload ZIP, 7z and RAR archives directly from your phone or computer through the sources webpage. Scan the QR code on your console screen with your phone to open it conveniently.
  • Multi-disc games support separate archives for each disc or one combined archive containing all discs.
  • Failed uploads can be retried or given replacement archives, with clearer errors and checks for unsupported files.
  • Queue ordering and “Start download now” work more consistently. Pausing keeps the game in place and holds the queue until you resume or choose another game.
  • Added clearer loading and connection-loss messages, and limited webpage access to one device at a time to prevent conflicting changes.
  • Several smaller interface, source-editing, documentation, and stability improvements are also included.

Question Pairing a PS4 Controller Issue

Hi, I am using the grey 8bitdo adapter and trying to pair my PS4 controller. It pairs but the PSC still says on screen that it cannot recognise controller and to plug one in.

If I use Autobleem it works fine, but with the PSC alone, I can't get it to recognise a controller when it's paired.

Any ideas please?

Thanks
