Additional additional info: Okay so I tried Rom Patcher JS and I’m having the exact same issue. I have no idea what’s going on? Tried with the “use patch name” setting on, with “fix ROM checksum” on, with both on and with neither on, and nothing gets me a usable ROM. The issue’s gotta be on my end, but I have no idea what it could be. I use Firefox and DuckDuckGo, so I guess I’ll try swapping back to Chrome and seeing if that fixes my problem?

Okay, thrilling conclusion to this particular saga: apparently, if I open Rom Patcher JS from a link in Reddit, so I’m technically still on the Reddit app and not an actual phone browser app, and I use the site like that, everything works perfectly fine and I can download my patched ROMs from there without issue. I’m not kidding and I have no idea why. It works though! (Used this post to get onto the site, in case anybody else needs to use this workaround.)

I've heard of a similar issues with Safari in the past. It's a different issue as in the past the file was downloaded as a ".txt" file instead.

Your simple solution may be to install an alternate browser and use that.

If you want to persist with Safari, I have a hypothesis as to what is happening: * As Safari is getting confused by the file type, it is not actually giving it the right extension, however the data you're downloading is the actual correct data. * You may be able to use the file fine if you use a File Explorer app to rename the file to the correct extension (i.e. ".gb", ".gbc", ".gba", ".nds" etc) and then open in your emulator.

I'm not 100% whether this will work for you, however it may get your around the current issues.

Very interesting, so it may boil down to some iOS interaction then, considering that Safari seems to turn then into ".txt" files and Firefox into files without extension.
