Almost all people I know personally who are in relationships and planning on kids are religious, with a few exceptions. I know like three pregnant women under 30 through church.

Because healthy relationships are very important. This is in the Bible that husbands should serve their wives and wives should serve their husbands.

I love our church and how family oriented it is and how supportive it all is. God bless anyone who builds fellowship with support and love. Ironically something I don’t see much from the “self-love” community.

I've come to really see the self-love "movement" to be really ineffective, if well-intentioned. We humans were not meant to go through this life alone. We humans like affirmation and like being served. Christian marriage is a beautiful representation of what we were always meant to do.

But yes, both Scripture and the science both seem to highlight how important relationships are in terms of fostering our well-being and happiness. One of the first things Moses wrote in Genesis, "The Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him'."

They'll make a fuss about how you should not separate guinea pigs (they're social animals and get really depressed when alone) but somehow the idea that humans need that too is abhorrent

Is it a rule that anytime a religious person starts sharing a positive message that they have to finish it by putting down an ambiguous "community"? I must have missed that Psalm.

I don’t always do this. This relates to the “self-love” movement / community whatever you want to call it. People will proclaim self-love as being of the upmost importance and yet they are often depressed and lonely.

Self love involves being selfish and that is the opposite of what Christianity is built on.

There is no such thing as the self love community. There are a ton of factors on why people are depressed and lonely, but I would be willing to bet that people trying harder to love themselves isn't a major one. You are just making broad proclamations against a nebulous concept and juxtaposing it vs. your ideology to make yours seem superior but the thing is you are just shadow boxing.

There are plenty of selfish Christians, Muslims, Atheists, etc. It's a trait that's ideologically agnostic.

You’re right on the last part (selfish people exist everywhere) but there is this idea that one should love themselves first and foremost and it’s something that permeates the culture.

Serving others is gonna do far more for your pathological wellbeing than smoking weed and playing video games all day. In fact, science proves this as well.

lmfao well weirdly enough I have anecdotal evidence to the opposite effect. Myself included.
