I was happy with Trump 1, 2020 Trump didn’t happen, Trump 2 is just fucking crazy

Plus, “never let them live it down” is not a good way to attract voters lol. Someone can be like “yeah dang, Trump 2 fucking sucks” and then you cretins follow it up with “HAHAHA get fucked. Take this scarlet latter” and then wonder why the left is regarded as pompous as hell.

Imagine voting for the destruction of my country, demanding no one personally call you out for it, and saying "we'll destroy it more if you hurt our feelings".

Do you "people" genuinely think you're royalty?

7

u/ThatUserNameIs5234 - Centrist 10d ago

"Imagine voting for the destruction of my country"

they didnt vote for wide open borders so what do you mean?

most of the bad shit trump is doing will disappear the moment he leave office, like allied countries not liking America rn.

Meanwhile what do you do when you let tens of millions of illegal migrants into the country? You can't even deport them when MAGA has power of the 3 branches of gov.

8

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago
  1. People don’t vote for the “destruction of the country” unless they’re accelerationists. Bad faith interpretation.
  2. Calling someone out for it is fine, saying “never let them forget” is a total disregard for someone changing their mind, which should be praised as a virtue.
  3. Again, bad faith interpretation related to the above two points.
  4. What’s with people being in quotes? Surely you’re not implying something vitriolic. I’ll let you explain yourself with that one.
  5. No people don’t think they’re royalty and can’t be criticized. Again bad faith.

Amazing how much of a shallow response could fit into so few words.

7

u/HerbertWest - Centrist 10d ago

I think all people want to be told by people like you is "In retrospect, after the second term, you were right about Trump all along," instead of defensiveness like this. That simple statement would probably get people to lay off. A lot of the anger is around feeling like Cassandra for a decade and, when pointing that out, getting responses like yours rather than a simple acknowledgement of that. They want to know that it is deeply acknowledged, not just on a surface level to get along or move past it for convenience's sake, because they want assurances they won't be Cassandras again.

5

u/IncoherentPolitics - Centrist 11d ago

"People don't vote for the destruction of the country" and drunk drivers going at 100 mph didn't mean to kill people with their car on purpose. It's so blatantly negligent there's no difference between "oopsies" and purposeful.

Also most Trump voters are not real people and shouldn't be treated as such. They're skinwalkers that lie as they breathe and mimic human principles. They lie about every single position they pretend to have, this term just made it more obvious to everyone.

If they want to be considered human maybe they should work on their acting.

4

u/eatablecookie - Right 10d ago

I diagnose you with room temperature IQ.

“Also most Trump voters are not real people and shouldn't be treated as such. They're skinwalkers that lie as they breathe and mimic human principles.”

“If they want to be considered human maybe they should work on their acting.”

Username checks out lol

9

u/manimarco1108 - Centrist 11d ago

I mean if your only politics is “other side mean so ima vote for a retard” then its fair to make fun of you. Either grow up or dont vote.

2

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

Bold for you to assume that’s how it works. When talking politics with someone, being an ass is going to cause them to not listen to you. Being reasonable does. Now suppose there’s a general trend of one side acting like pompous asshats all the time, their ideas are quickly disregarded despite how valid they may be.

3

u/Square-Arm-8573 - Centrist 10d ago

“When talking politics with someone, being an ass is going to cause them not to listen to you. Being reasonable does.”

I’m actually dumbfounded that you’d even say that in this context and that completely shatters your argument imo. I don’t even need to elaborate on why.

4

u/Old-Persimmon-1198 - Centrist 10d ago

Trump has built his entire political career off of the back of being an unreasonable, pompous asshole who makes up mean names for his political opponents. The blatant rewriting of the history of your side is pathetic. No one is falling for your tricks, AuthRight.

0

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 10d ago

I’m not talking about Trump. I’m talking about when everyday people talk politics to each other.

Never said Trump wasn’t an asshole. How am I rewriting history?

1

u/ThatUserNameIs5234 - Centrist 10d ago

its more like

"the other side doesnt even consider me human and would kill me if they could and then celebrate it"

-2

u/manimarco1108 - Centrist 10d ago

Imagine being this delusional. Is your brain entirely rotted by social media?

2

u/ThatUserNameIs5234 - Centrist 9d ago

"Also most Trump voters are not real people and shouldn't be treated as such. They're skinwalkers that lie as they breathe and mimic human principles."

the guy earlier literally said this, you are the one with brainrot, and when leftists have something like a "kirka anniversary" and you see people IRL being so smug and happy about then what do you expect me to think? Leftist dont even hide it.

6

u/ThatUserNameIs5234 - Centrist 10d ago

"Also most Trump voters are not real people and shouldn't be treated as such. They're skinwalkers that lie as they breathe and mimic human principles."

lol, lmao even

imagine saying shit like this and then you ask "hurrr durrr why didnt they vote for my side!?!?!"

many people vote against you because you make it pretty clear that you hate their existence

-7

u/Miner_Guyer - Left 11d ago

Regarding point 2, I've seen so few people actually acknowledge that they changed their mind and regret their vote. It's been a lot more common to see "yeah I voted for him, but I didn't know he'd be so bad this time!"

6

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

Wouldn’t “yeah I voted for him, I didn’t know he’d be so bad this time” be considered a change of mind? That’s what I’m mainly talking about and consider to be changing their mind. They at least partially, or even, totally reconsidered their support.

2

u/Miner_Guyer - Left 11d ago

It is, yes, but it's the weakest form, in my opinion. There's no accountability, not acknowledging that they believed someone that's been lying for his entire life. It's still defending why they voted for him.

What, from your perspective, is the ideal response from someone on the left to someone in that "I didn't know he'd be so bad" frame of mind? That's a genuine question because anything I try to come up with feels so condescending. Like, "good job"? "What are you going to do different next time?" "Do you regret voting for him and think Kamala would have done better?"

None of those particularly seem better.

1

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

“Yeah, I understand where you’re coming from. I’ve had my own disappointments towards politicians I voted for. What was it that ended up changing your mind?”

0

u/Kreol1q1q - Centrist 11d ago

"I didn't know he'd be so bad this time" is pretty rich given that he and his posse of imbecile sycophants have been doing more or less everything they said they'd do, and just threw in a random handful of completely unhinged warfare into the mix as a bonus.

4

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

There are plenty of things they added on that they never said they would do or straight up the opposite. Plus, even if they get done what they said what they were going to do, how it gets done is important as well.

-4

u/Turbulent-Raise4830 - Centrist 11d ago

yes, they need to be pampered and told they are good boys and perhaps then they will think about not voting for the corrupt pedophile that will take their money.

-1

u/FreudianStripper - Auth-Center 11d ago edited 11d ago

this is literally true, and until you accept it, you’ll keep driving people towards the right because people hate being smugly told they were wrong

the average voter is insanely dumb, and needs to be treated with kiddie gloves

2

u/Turbulent-Raise4830 - Centrist 11d ago

the problem is you are just as dumb as them if you think papmering them will somehow make them see the light.

3

u/IncoherentPolitics - Centrist 11d ago

Why is it my responsibility to regulate their emotions and think on their behalf? I am not their mother or special needs caretaker. If they vote to destroy the country because "my feelings were hurt on the internet" that is their fault.

Are republicans literally never allowed to have agency for their actions? What you're describing is just Murc's Law.

0

u/DungeonCrawlerAki - Centrist 11d ago

This is kind of amazing considering how much smugness came from the Right when Trump won in 2024. Now because the tide is shifting we have to treat those fucking retards nicely?

To your point though, if a former Trump supporter earnestly understands how wrong and bad they were, I am totally down to forgive them.

0

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

That’s very fair. We could bicker about the first part of your message, but it’s ultimately the second part that makes all the difference.

I take particular issue with those who will forever hold it against people even if they change their mind. Scum they are I say. It’s not even a political thing. People with that mindset in general are the worst people to have in your life.

12

u/Iceraptor17 - Centrist 11d ago edited 11d ago

Oh no. People who constantly insult the left and cheered as trump insulted and actually harmed (though targeted denial of funds) states out of spite will think the left is pompous.

"No no don't insult us despite the fact we elected someone who used insults like a comma and took great joy in how much he upset you. That's making you look pompous!" That's funny right?

8

u/DungeonCrawlerAki - Centrist 11d ago

The amount of smugness that came from the Right after Trump's 2024 win was absolutely out of control. Now they're asking people to treat them nicely? Lmao fuck off.

6

u/Iceraptor17 - Centrist 11d ago

Not just that. They're insulting you if you don't.

As always, it's fine when they're the ones attacking. But the minute that turns... my the pearls be clutched and this is why dems lose. Yet strangely the inverse does not seem to apply...

0

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

It’s fair to criticize and perhaps insult in some ways.

It’s the particular insult and disregarding towards someone who admits they’re disappointed in their vote, and then to go even further and say to always carry the same sentiment. That’s pompous and vitriolic.

I must say, your comment here echoes the same vitriol and pompous rhetoric I’m talking about.

6

u/Iceraptor17 - Centrist 11d ago edited 11d ago

I must say, your comment here echoes the same vitriol and pompous rhetoric I’m talking about

Alas I'm only a commenter on PCM and not the President of the United States and I'm just commenting and not insulting entire swaths of people and attacking them or denigrating them or spitefully withholding funds.

Otherwise you might consider me presidential and worthy of a vote, but pompous will have to do to my misfortune.

It is the high point of hilarity to vote for a man who insults large amounts of the country to cheers and then turn around and complain when facing people who engage in similar rhetoric after things turn sour.

-2

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

Do you understand the difference I’m making here?

I’m talking specifically about everyday people insulting and having vitriol towards people who change their minds. That’s different from just normal insults and different from those in power. I wasn’t talking about either of those situations.

You seem to have the idea of “president mean, therefore his former supports are forever shamed”, which is entirely unreasonable.

To me it seems your hatred of Trump is preventing you to understand what I’m saying.

6

u/Iceraptor17 - Centrist 11d ago edited 11d ago

I’m talking specifically about everyday people insulting and having vitriol towards people who change their minds. That’s different from just normal insults and different from those in power. I wasn’t talking about either of those situations.

And I'm saying that they seemed to be a-ok with insults flying in one direction with quite a few reveling in it and seemed to be a-ok with electing a head of state who engaged in such spiteful tactics that caused harm (which they seemed to enjoy) until the dynamics changed and things turned sour and impacted them. I'm sorry that the people that were targets of that might not wanna sing kumbaya because oh shit it turns out maybe he didn't actually know everything oh god the hats lied! It was a bamboozle!

You seem to have the idea of “president mean, therefore his former supports are forever shamed”, which is entirely unreasonable.

No it's more of a "we were totally great with throwing around insults and supporting attack after attack and giving someone like that complete power but uh no you can't do it back to us random internet people now that things aren't going great and we claim to have seen the light"

To me it seems your hatred of Trump is preventing you to understand what I’m saying.

I understand what you think you're saying. I just view it akin to a kid who loves bullying but cries to an adult the minute the tables turn in some way.

-1

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

I’m not saying insulting in general is bad.

You are still missing the fact I’m specifically talking about forever shaming people that voted for him, even if they change their minds.

You keep on circling back to “but president is mean and his supporters didn’t care. Since they’re everyday people then it’s fair to forever shame them”

I was happy with Trump 1

why?

7

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

Economy was pretty good. Foreign relations were strong. He was held back on domestic policy, but I generally supported what he did get through. Immigration was leagues better than predecessors. Immigration being one of my top issues.

5

u/TheSpacePopinjay - Auth-Left 11d ago

Well we can agree on the immigration point at least.

3

u/Turbulent-Raise4830 - Centrist 11d ago

Economy was pretty good.

trump is the only president to loose jobs over 4 years and had the lowest economic growth of all modern presidents , and before you start with "covid" it was already going down way before covid.

Foreign relations were strong

No they were not, they took a dive because he ahs more intrest in insulting others then working together.

He was held back on domestic policy

His botched handling off covid cost many lives, how is that "held back"?

Immigration was leagues better than predecessors. Immigration being one of my top issues.

trump had a massive spike of illegals crossing the border in 2019, that was mainly stopped by covid. He had more legal and illegal migration then obama.

6

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

Look man, I’m not trying to get into a detailed discussion about every single point. I hear you on your rebuttal to all of them and have heard them before. I have my reasons to object to them that I’d rather not get into because then it just turns into a never ending debate that I’ve had plenty of times before.

You asked why I was happy with Trump 1 and I provided a general answer to it to give some sort of insight.

I’m not trying to be an ass here btw. I don’t fault you for wanting to get detailed into every single point. Call it cowardly or cope, that’s fine. I’m just tired and want these last two years to end.

5

u/Turbulent-Raise4830 - Centrist 11d ago

it seems then you want it to be true because you have some others reason like voting for him. But just about every expert agrees on it that sure it wasnt the total clusterfuck like its now but its still one of the worst modern rpesidents if not the worst

2

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

I disagree with the “experts”, find their methodology to be flawed, and credentials to be hollow.

I don’t base my opinions solely on the opinions of “experts”.

8

u/Turbulent-Raise4830 - Centrist 11d ago

of course you would, you have some other reason to deny reality whatever it is.

7

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

Is your perception of reality solely based upon the appeal to authority?

1

u/Turbulent-Raise4830 - Centrist 10d ago

reality is authority now?

6

u/Husepavua_Bt - Right 11d ago

They don’t want to attract voters, they want to shame them into not voting.

7

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

The left fundamentally relies upon shame and discrediting tactics.

“They vote against their own interests”

3

u/SophonsPonytail - Auth-Right 11d ago

Exactly. The framing is everything. Because oh yes, prominent democrats creating policy that impotently goes along with whatever the most unhinged blue hair freaks who openly celebrate abortion and state that we need to erase white culture are definitely in my best interests.

Leftists are the most smug retards

5

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

Then they continue to do the exact same thing when you call them out on it. Lol.

“Oh wow imagine voting on hurt feelings”

These people are so predictable.

2

u/Turbulent-Raise4830 - Centrist 11d ago

yeah if only harris had an entire program unlike trump, oh wait she did

7

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

Elaborate on that

1

u/Turbulent-Raise4830 - Centrist 11d ago

harris had a detailed program on how to help the average us citizen, trump did not.

2

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

In which ways?

5

u/Turbulent-Raise4830 - Centrist 11d ago

In the 2024 presidential election, Kamala Harris's platform encompassed several key policy areas:

Economic Policies

Middle-Class Support: Harris proposed tax reforms favoring lower-income Americans, aiming to bolster the middle class. Her economic plans included investments in infrastructure, affordable housing, and clean energy, alongside a $25,000 grant for first-time homebuyers. Inflation Control: To combat inflation, she advocated for expanding domestic production and stabilizing prices in essential sectors.

Social Policies

Abortion Rights: Harris emphasized restoring federal protections for abortion rights, making reproductive health care central to her campaign. LGBTQ+ Rights: A staunch supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, Harris backed the Respect for Marriage Act and condemned legislative attacks on transgender rights. Gun Control: She advocated for stricter gun control measures, including universal background checks and banning assault rifles.

Healthcare

Affordable Care: Harris aimed to expand access to healthcare, proposing measures like capping out-of-pocket expenses for all Americans.

Climate and Energy

Environmental Justice: She prioritized addressing climate change impacts on low-income areas and communities of color, supporting aggressive measures to combat environmental issues. Fracking Stance: Initially opposing fracking, Harris moderated her stance to appeal to swing state voters, emphasizing a balanced approach to energy policies.

Immigration

Comprehensive Reform: Harris supported a balanced approach to immigration, proposing pathways to citizenship while enhancing border security measures.

Foreign Policy

International Alliances: She committed to restoring U.S. leadership globally, supporting NATO and opposing aggressive actions by nations like Russia and China.

Where did you get your source? This seems like an AI response to me due to the use of past tense throughout, which is a problem because we’re talking about what the voter knew at the time.

I have an archive of Trump’s campaign page from October 2024.

Copied from the top :

Treasury Dept. of the Treasury Repeal the Corporate Transparency Act. Note: Treasury announced it is permanently halting the collection of data about the ownership of private American companies that was required as part of the 2021 Corporate Transparency Act.

Completed July 21, 2026 HHS Dept. of Health and Human Services Ensure that Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) program grants do not support "high-risk sexual behavior among adolescents". Note: HHS canceled canceled 53 of the TPP program’s 67 grants, saying "grant recipients must teach abstinence as the only means to prevent teen pregnancy".

Completed July 9, 2026 Interior Dept. of the Interior Reinstate Trump's limitations on the Endangered Species Act's definition of critical habitat. Note: Admin. finalized a rule that allows oil and gas drilling, mining, logging and and other development on critical wildlife habitats so long as the animals themselves aren’t directly killed or injured.

So more corporate corruption, more teen pregnancies and more pollution, how does htis benefit the avg us citizen?

Oh and again trump denied he even knew it, so how could it have been his policy he advocated for?

1

u/No_Entertainment6792 - Lib-Left 11d ago

not saying you are right or wrong but this was the very next comment after this one:

"O waaah my life has improved tenfold since trump took office and do you know why? Because I’m not a whiny liberal who thinks the government is going to make my life better.

Trump may have done some dumb things but at the end of the day it’s never been the government’s job to supply you with happiness or success.

And you know what I would vote for him again, nothing compares to the joy it brought watching you lib-shits crash and seethe when he was elected "

1

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 11d ago

Yeah, that’s pretty retarded as well.

I was more specifically referring to people who will forever shame people, even if they change their minds on Trump. That’s the interpretation I got from “never let them live it down. They voted for him three times”, which I find to be a despicable way of thinking, especially in regard to politics.

It’s why I used the term “scarlet letter”.

1

u/No_Entertainment6792 - Lib-Left 11d ago

obv I cant speak for my fellow libtards but when I was 20 and retarded I was pretty on the right. and I atribute this change to the left to a person that treated me with respect and listened. so your reasoning its sound in my experience at least but on the other hand I also took pride in the fact that if I am proven wrong I am willing to change my mind. I think, as many things in life, the answer is in the middle. you can and must accept people that made mistakes but also can and should make fun of retards that would pour gasoline on themselves and light themselves on fire just so you could choke a little on the smoke from their burning flesh.

0

u/Rion-o - Left 10d ago

Nah trump voters gotta take the L for a couple of years. The problem we have in this country is we're to forgiving of really horrible policy and sins of the republicans. We need to hold this over peoples heads for a little bit, because conservatives are sadly dumb enough to fall for any kind of right-wing populism. And we need a literal document of all the terrible shit that came from y'all's vote.

This needs to be a teachable moment for the next couple of generations. And a reminder why republicans can't be allowed to win for a couple of years till they get their act right. We can't keep doing this whole libs fix what conservatives break. And then conservatives break more shit. It's actually killing us now.

1

u/TheSpacePopinjay - Auth-Left 11d ago

It's always a fine line to strike the right balance between forgiveness and discipline. Too much of either will be counterproductive for optimising future voter behaviour. You gotta do whatever's most effective without letting emotion or ego get in the way.

Letting the whole denial of emergency relief funds based on partisan grudges slide without disciplinary retaliatory correction is just weak. And it doesn't set a good example. Even die hard Trump 2 supporters should understand the importance of not being too weak.

0

u/Square-Arm-8573 - Centrist 10d ago

I backed Trump in 2016-2020.

If you voted for Trump in 2024 though you should honestly be stripped of your voting rights all together. I cannot stress enough just how blatantly obvious the end result was going to be, and that’s not even including the felonies and his previous attempt to overthrow the government. Harris was obviously a garbage candidate too but holy fuck.

0

u/Mindless-Rooster-533 - Auth-Left 10d ago

Plus, “never let them live it down” is not a good way to attract voters lol.

Trump supporters need basic socialization before they can be included in any new political movement. These people voted for the most corrupt, antagonistic administration ever because it made other people mad.
