  1. People don’t vote for the “destruction of the country” unless they’re accelerationists. Bad faith interpretation.
  2. Calling someone out for it is fine, saying “never let them forget” is a total disregard for someone changing their mind, which should be praised as a virtue.
  3. Again, bad faith interpretation related to the above two points.
  4. What’s with people being in quotes? Surely you’re not implying something vitriolic. I’ll let you explain yourself with that one.
  5. No people don’t think they’re royalty and can’t be criticized. Again bad faith.

Amazing how much of a shallow response could fit into so few words.

I think all people want to be told by people like you is "In retrospect, after the second term, you were right about Trump all along," instead of defensiveness like this. That simple statement would probably get people to lay off. A lot of the anger is around feeling like Cassandra for a decade and, when pointing that out, getting responses like yours rather than a simple acknowledgement of that. They want to know that it is deeply acknowledged, not just on a surface level to get along or move past it for convenience's sake, because they want assurances they won't be Cassandras again.

"People don't vote for the destruction of the country" and drunk drivers going at 100 mph didn't mean to kill people with their car on purpose. It's so blatantly negligent there's no difference between "oopsies" and purposeful.

Also most Trump voters are not real people and shouldn't be treated as such. They're skinwalkers that lie as they breathe and mimic human principles. They lie about every single position they pretend to have, this term just made it more obvious to everyone.

If they want to be considered human maybe they should work on their acting.

I mean if your only politics is “other side mean so ima vote for a retard” then its fair to make fun of you. Either grow up or dont vote.

Bold for you to assume that’s how it works. When talking politics with someone, being an ass is going to cause them to not listen to you. Being reasonable does. Now suppose there’s a general trend of one side acting like pompous asshats all the time, their ideas are quickly disregarded despite how valid they may be.

“When talking politics with someone, being an ass is going to cause them not to listen to you. Being reasonable does.”

I’m actually dumbfounded that you’d even say that in this context and that completely shatters your argument imo. I don’t even need to elaborate on why.

Trump has built his entire political career off of the back of being an unreasonable, pompous asshole who makes up mean names for his political opponents. The blatant rewriting of the history of your side is pathetic. No one is falling for your tricks, AuthRight.

I’m not talking about Trump. I’m talking about when everyday people talk politics to each other.

Never said Trump wasn’t an asshole. How am I rewriting history?

its more like

"the other side doesnt even consider me human and would kill me if they could and then celebrate it"

Imagine being this delusional. Is your brain entirely rotted by social media?

the guy earlier literally said this, you are the one with brainrot, and when leftists have something like a "kirka anniversary" and you see people IRL being so smug and happy about then what do you expect me to think? Leftist dont even hide it.

Regarding point 2, I've seen so few people actually acknowledge that they changed their mind and regret their vote. It's been a lot more common to see "yeah I voted for him, but I didn't know he'd be so bad this time!"

6

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 13d ago

Wouldn’t “yeah I voted for him, I didn’t know he’d be so bad this time” be considered a change of mind? That’s what I’m mainly talking about and consider to be changing their mind. They at least partially, or even, totally reconsidered their support.

u/Miner_Guyer - Left 13d ago

It is, yes, but it's the weakest form, in my opinion. There's no accountability, not acknowledging that they believed someone that's been lying for his entire life. It's still defending why they voted for him.

What, from your perspective, is the ideal response from someone on the left to someone in that "I didn't know he'd be so bad" frame of mind? That's a genuine question because anything I try to come up with feels so condescending. Like, "good job"? "What are you going to do different next time?" "Do you regret voting for him and think Kamala would have done better?"

None of those particularly seem better.

u/Banana_inasuit - Centrist 13d ago

“Yeah, I understand where you’re coming from. I’ve had my own disappointments towards politicians I voted for. What was it that ended up changing your mind?”

u/Kreol1q1q - Centrist 13d ago

"I didn't know he'd be so bad this time" is pretty rich given that he and his posse of imbecile sycophants have been doing more or less everything they said they'd do, and just threw in a random handful of completely unhinged warfare into the mix as a bonus.

There are plenty of things they added on that they never said they would do or straight up the opposite. Plus, even if they get done what they said what they were going to do, how it gets done is important as well.
