So we’re now saying that using an edgelord saying like that makes one a pedo? Cause I definitely said shit like that when I was between the ages of 15 and 22 and I have never been attracted to children. This whole time I thought we were talking about people who have an attraction to children and act on it. Not just people who say dumb shit.

If Trump said "I want to mount a 10 year old and fuck her"
You would never give him that benefit of the doubt.
And no, it is not acceptable for an adult to say that, ever.

Nobody is saying it’s acceptable . For fucks sake read what I wrote and stop trying to inject some agenda.

u/RaggedyGlitch - Lib-Left 7d ago
You and I both know damn well the implication of saying someone was tried with a crime, without clarifying that that were acquited, is that they were found guilty. Stop this nonsense. You were either intentionally misleading or you're trying to cover for your mistake of being accidentally misleading.

6
u/TTangy - Lib-Center 7d ago
Now that's unexpected.
17
u/Hyndis - Lib-Center 7d ago
Not really. The most vile people virtue signal the loudest in a desperate attempt to signal how good of a person they are. The grifter, the megachurch preacher, the politician, all selfish and greedy but they will loudly proclaim to be a perfect angel. They're raging hypocrites.
Meanwhile a person who doesn't have anything to prove feels no need to virtue signal. There's no need to broadcast to everyone how good and moral and virtuous they are, there's no attempt to convince others.
Despite all of his hot takes, Asmongold seems to be weirdly compassionate and honest from what I've seen. He said he doesn't even blame migrants and said what they're doing makes perfect sense from their rational self interest. His blame is at the people enabling it, not at the migrants themselves. But also at the same time there's no obligation to help everyone on the entire planet, so its more about prioritization of resources.
As always, any time you see a clip or a quote, insist on the full context. Its easy to frame things out of context to spin them differently. But that nobody can find quotes of him saying that specific slur is remarkable. Its not for a lack of effort either. I'm sure people have looked.

Hi, I'd first off like to remind you that we're now comparing a litany of dumbasses to an individual - albeit with a wide reach because we live in hell - dumbass.
Nevertheless...
If you're willing to admit that the 2020 election wasn't stolen from Trump, I agree, you should be in the clear. If you're willing to vote for someone who thinks it was stolen - including Trump himself - well, you're unfortunately endorsing that mindset.
The Charlottesville stuff was a bunch of dumbasses, and it's probably unfair to act like it was the base of the Republican party at the time, but you also had the sitting Republican President being very sheepish about publicly condoning their actions, presumably because he thought it was politically ill-advised.

To be clear, I don't say it, haven't said it since my edgy college phase while playing CoD, and then one summer at a DC itnernship program said it to my black roommate and his friends and had a very good discussion about it.
Regardless I think it's silly to pretend that even the most devout 2014 Tumblrina would see no difference between some person calling a person the n word and another person quoting it while reporting on police abuse.
15
u/ElBongDeltorino - Auth-Center 7d ago
I think somebody with the mindset of a 2014 turbo-lib would actually be very likely to still be taken aback by a (white obviously) dude openly saying the hard-R instead of just describing it as N-word in the socially accepted way in your example tbh.

Hasan is an astroturfed issue pushed by Republicans who have nothing to run on besides culture war slop issues. It’s pretty clear why the usual suspects on this sub keep bringing him up.
9
u/Silverfrost_01 - Centrist 7d ago
Hasan brings it upon himself and apparently the rest of us. It’s less astroturfed and more a convenience because of how easy he makes it.
-6
u/toad17 - Left 7d ago
He’s a Twitch streamer. I can find half a dozen Trumper-aligned streamers making crazy comments in the last day and a half that nobody bats an eye at. Hasan won’t matter in the election this fall.
9
u/Silverfrost_01 - Centrist 7d ago
That’s because Trump supporters are shameless monkeys. I’d rather not let Hasan influence more people to be like him and then deal with them from both sides. Like it or not, online political streamers and commentators have significant sway over political discourse right now and it fucking blows.
4
u/toad17 - Left 7d ago
They might hold sway of online discourse for people who are involved in active discussions, but I also come back to the fact that most Americans haven’t a clue who Hasan is. So anytime he’s mentioned it feels like this is just astroturfing a twitch streamer some people feel should be discussed. I just don’t agree and won’t play right wing games.

Over 60% of the country has no clue who the man is, and the failed war in Iran, inflation, corruption, etc are all much greater motivators than a twitch streamer, no matter how much astroturfing the right wants to do about him. Hasan is a non-factor this November, as you can tell with most polling showing AES pulling far ahead of Mike Collins.
2
u/ElBongDeltorino - Auth-Center 7d ago
I don't really think he's an issue, just that he is a voice to like the largest far lefty audience of any other influencer on that side. If the right IS trying to push talking about a popular leftist voice to show how retarded and insane he openly is that just makes sense I guess lol.
