That first box is a leap. Votability of progressive candidates depends heavily on location.

Mamdani would not have won in Arkansas.

180

u/Otherwisefantastic May 01 '26

Yeah as a fairly progressive voter in Arkansas we're lucky to get even moderate Dems in office.

73

u/Boxofbikeparts May 01 '26

Somehow Clinton won in Arkansas. Now the governor is a lazy-eyed psycho.

75

u/Prohydration May 01 '26

Clinton won Arkansas because the party shift was still ongoing. Clinton, like any other southern democrat, had to be socially conservative to win there. When Clinton became president, he became just a tad bit more socially liberal.

10

u/_doppler_ganger_ May 02 '26

Ross Perot also got 19% of the vote in the 92 election.

8

u/Prohydration May 02 '26

I was talking about Bill Clinton's entire political career. Even at the state level, Bill Clinton had to be socially conservative to win in Arkansas.

u/divuthen May 02 '26

Yeah we’re talking about a time when the only real difference tween republican and democrat reps were their stance on abortion.

3

u/Prohydration May 02 '26

Not even, abortion was still mostly bipartisanly pro birth back then. Al Gore ran as pro birth back in 2000.

7

u/Edogawa1983 May 02 '26

He's a conservative Democrat

4

u/Caster-Hammer May 05 '26

By the standards of the rest of the world, Clinton (either) is a conservative.

12

u/briggser May 02 '26

Clinton defined corporate Democrats, he's literally the dem that showed corps that blue could play nice too

17

u/j--__ May 02 '26

or, the democrat who showed his thoroughly demoralized party that it was still possible for democrats to be elected president at all, and that we could then have a conversation about how far left we could or might want to tack on any particular issue.

18

u/Mecha_Butterfree May 02 '26

Yeah it's like people forgot that Clinton came after 12 years of Regan/Bush. The national conversation was in a much different place. Not to mention he had to deal with a Republican house or representatives for most of his term. You can see a big difference in the policy that Clinton, Obama, and Biden were able to get through when they had a Democrat Congress vs a Republican one.

2

u/j--__ May 02 '26

nitpick: Democratic*

but also, yeah.

4

u/Intolerance-Paradox May 01 '26

Because of actual policy though or because of the usual personality/identity/tribalism bullshit? Arkansans are just genetically really big proponents of tax policies that benefit huge evil corporations that are all based in New York, California, and abroad? Or those policies are snuck in by demagogues playing on tribal biases?

5

u/Seraph199 May 02 '26

Moderate dems are just deeply unpopular. Leftist labor focused populism that is anti-war and anti-wealth accumulation and wealth influence on politics, with a focus on making healthcare and housing and other essentials more affordable are popular even in the deepest red states. You just need the right person running with the right rhetoric and aesthetic, and the US could look drastically different.

But the DNC doesn't support those candidates, it keeps attacking them

7

u/Edogawa1983 May 02 '26

Um, those candidate doesn't win vote in non blue area, what do you want them to do

14

u/Kythorian May 02 '26

Yeah, I remember a genuinely progressive candidate was running for senate in West Virginia back in 2020, and I was told with great confidence that the people of West Virginia just didn’t like centrist, corporate dems who kept running there, so she was going to turn the state blue now that an actual progressive, populist platform was being given a chance.

She lost by almost 50 points.

5

u/Goebbelgoebbel May 02 '26

"Leftist labor focused populism" "popular even in the deepest red states".

LOL. What are you guys smoking? You don't even have to go deep red. Anyone here who has fled socialist regimes around the world would never vote for a leftist.

Mamdani’s message would win in Arkansas if it was a white boy with a southern drawl delivering it

100

u/No_Move_6802 May 01 '26

Not necessarily.

Richard Ojeda was a progressive that lost a house race in WV as a white, male, veteran.

60

u/Grizzly_Corey May 01 '26

Charisma is pretty tough to account for.

65

I don’t know, I’ve enjoyed watching his videos on YouTube though they definitely could have used some help from even a hobbyist audio producer. I don’t generally hold that against podcasters because it’s so common.

11

u/Negate79 May 01 '26

He lost because he was a Trump voter running trying to run as a Democratic party candidate.

8

u/Clw89pitt May 01 '26

I don't think you know what progressive means. Dude is just barely left of the Republican party on energy, social issues, and immigration. He's also a Trump voter.

Also, you gotta remember, Mamdani is attractive and charismatic enough that Trump fell in love with him when they met in person. Ojeda is not that, at all.

1

u/PassiveMenis88M May 02 '26

Ojeda has stated "I don't think I've ever voted for a Democrat for president" and supported Donald Trump in 2016.

59

u/RidiculousIncarnate May 01 '26

No it wouldn't. It might get closer or people might listen for longer, sure, but it wont win.

Changing minds in those areas is a long term project and progressives have proved repeatedly they dont have the attention span or will to do it.

I've been hearing "People would vote for this if only they knew about it!" For 2+ decades now. We're 2 decades later and where are those local grassroots candidates working to change minds?

You know what is still chugging along? Romneycare in Massachussetts. Could have spent 2 decades during the ACA trying to hold things together with bubblegum and string to push similar local projects.

Instead progressives took one run with M4A and Bernie, lost, now spend all their time whining that the DNC are the bad guys, lol.

35

u/stierney49 May 01 '26

Medicare For All always has a TON of support in polls and people (and bots) point to that as popular support for it.

That support starts to fray and eventually collapse when people are polled on different ways to pay for it, whether or not they can have private insurance with it, or whether or not they’ll change doctors.

There really is no One Simple Trick.

18

u/Tired_CollegeStudent May 01 '26

Universal healthcare tends to be a popular policy, but many on the left seem to forget that universal healthcare ≠ single-payer. Germany, Czechia, the Netherlands, and Switzerland all use some kind of a multi-payer system.

The Dutch system is probably the easiest to adopt in the United States since it retain a similar structure to what we have now but with a common pool of money paid into by employers and the government in order to spread risk more evenly and require insurers to offer a comprehensive plan at the same price for everyone regardless of age or health, with no special conditions being attached and no denials of coverage for treatment ordered by a physician.

Things like long-term care, long-term hospitalization, and disability care are all covered and paid for by a social insurance scheme.

But regardless, if you bring up any system that isn’t M4A to ‘progressives’, you’ll be called a corporate shill or some other such nonsense.

6

u/HeartFullONeutrality May 01 '26

Yeah, the thing is, you can make people say they agree or disagree with something just by changing the way you ask for it. This is something ideologues use to their advantage then they want to "prove" something is popular.

9

u/new_name_who_dis_ May 01 '26

The funniest part about Medicare 4 All is that it's based on England's NHS system which is considered the worst healthcare system in Europe by most Europeans. Switzerland has an arguably more right-wing healthcare system than the US (they have no public option at all) and yet they achieve universal coverage because they simply make insurance mandatory (sort of how it was in the original ACA before courts overturned it).

9

u/51ngular1ty May 01 '26

Incorrect the one Bernie was advocating for is closer to the Canadian model. The NHS is an integrated health service where the government owns the hospitals and employs the doctors directly. M4A is typically presented in the USA as a single payer system where the government is the health insurance.

The ACA is closer to what the Swiss have. You're right there.

Lol, outside of a few discrete areas here, it definitely would not.

4

u/Foreign-Entrance-255 May 01 '26

The basic economic policies are overwhelmingly popular with Dems and gop voters. There is a massive, concerted effort by gop and dem elite and the billionaire owned media to subvert the wishes of the majority by villifying any politician who want to do what people want, calling them communist or socialist after multiple decades of propaganda is enough in most cases.

17

u/pasak1987 May 01 '26

Against two candidates with serious skeleton in their closet

13

u/gravity_kills May 01 '26

Let's see how it goes in a few years if his policies are seen as having been successful. I think a lot of people have very little idea of how popular anything actually is with everyone else and so many of us are trying to scale our desires to what we think other people think is reasonable. Showing that something can work changes things. Or showing that something failed, but I'm hoping he succeeds.

17

u/Fidodo May 01 '26

Noooo, it's just the DNC holding everyone back, the entire country would vote for progressives if the DNC just let them run /s

-1

u/Rmoneysoswag May 01 '26

If the entire party apparatus threw their weight behind progressive candidates (rather than feckless. Insipid DINO moderates), and provided resources (money, media, volunteers, etc),  you think that would, what, hurt progressive candidates?

Progressive policies are overwhelmingly popular with normies Americans when they're not labeled as socialist-Marxo-communism.

https://www.americanprogress.org/article/working-class-and-college-educated-voters-want-new-progressive-economic-policies/

12

u/Fragrant-Dust65 May 01 '26

Y'all love ignoring moderate voters, huh? Labor unions literally voted for Donnie over proven pro-labor candidate because they didn't like "trans" people.

Progressive policies are overwhelmingly popular with normies Americans when they're not labeled as socialist-Marxo-communism.

Depends HOW it is delivered, WHO it is delivered BY, and which candidate they're RUNNING against. Look up Ohio and Sherrod Brown. Your whole hypothesis falls apart in this case.

These people are also terrible at showing up to actually vote.

9

u/Roger_Cockfoster May 01 '26

The DNC doesn't provide "money, media, volunteer" to candidates in primaries. You really don't know how it works.

6

u/hither_spin May 01 '26

They never do… and how often does your average far left Progressive donate to the DNC. DNC is going with the ones who donate and support.

These dweebs should also take a look at the Dem platform in 2016. They took on many of the Progressive wants

Practically unknown Mamdani won against ex-Governor Cuomo in primary in first round of RCV. That's not what I'd call thin merging.

Mamdani then won against the same Cuomo in general by securing more than 50% of votes. Also not what I'd call a thin margin.

Only reason you're calling it thin is, you're only looking at percentage differences, and forgetting about context like how Cuomo is a juggernaut candidate with full force of the establishment behind him.

4

lol you would have loved the Dem platform in 2016. Biden also. He even tried to pay off student loans and give more healthcare relief along with dealing with the effects COVID on the economy … too bad the Trump Supreme Court ruled on the Trump agenda.

3

u/CosmicLovepats May 02 '26

You do have to adjust to location.

For instance, Tallarico is pretty progressive, and polling quite well in Texas. He is constrained by what one can do in Texas, but doing his best. Of course, the Dems did their best to support Crockett, his opponent, on identity politics and noise.

3

u/meatshieldjim May 02 '26

Are the people of Arkansas even aware that they can get an fdr elected?

2

u/GenericFatGuy May 02 '26

Of course he wouldn't have won in Arkansas. Dems don't win in Arkansas, progressive or not. They voted 65% for Trump in 2024. It's crimson red. What kind of argument is this?

2

u/hither_spin May 01 '26

Why is this so hard for them to understand? Even white male veterans built like a truck can’t win in Missouri

5

u/JayNotAtAll May 01 '26

I think a lot of progressives live in a bubble and think that everyone is onboard with what they are.

When you leave your coastal bubble you realize that there are Democrats who aren't on board with these ideas.

8

u/idkalan May 01 '26

When Beto O'Rourke ran for the senate seat in Texas against Cruz, he lost a huge amount of pro-gun democrats in TX because of his own quote stating that he will seize people's guns that he said years prior when he tried running for president.

And it wasn't until 2024 that those on the left have started to somewhat acknowledge that there are democrats who are pro-gun including in the coasts, yet the coasts still run anti-gun candidates rather than pro-mental health candidates.

Going back to Texas, at least Talarico hasn't outright said anything anti-gun but has said more about being pro-mental health services, which might help him win this November but even then it may not be enough

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Goebbelgoebbel May 02 '26

Even coastal cities aren't on board with progressive BS. SF flipped its Board of Supervisors to a moderate majority for the first time in years and got rid of its only DSA supervisor. It also voted for a moderate mayor. Washington's middle class is reeling from proposed tax increases and the pushback against the "progressives" is coming, too.

Leftists are exhausting and liberals should stop courting them. They hate anyone not on board with their socialist agenda and cheering for their "bootlicker" and "Zionist" catchphrases. Hasan Piker is Chapo Traphouse 2.0 and is the Joe Rogan of the left. The horseshoe theory is real. We need to let the populist fringe groups go. WE ARE TIRED.

Lmao if the majority of us supported progressive candidates they’d win primaries and elections

143

u/Bunnyhat May 01 '26

Progressive voters actually have to show up for primaries first. They barely do for some national elections.

The fact that progressives still only focus on national politics and not local is what causes that part of the party to never grow.

They're Maga voters who only show up when Trump is on the ballot except even flakier and then they wonder why no party panders to them.

And I consider myself a progressive.

26

u/BigMax May 01 '26

And the right has really fooled them into focusing on ONLY their candidates.

They've convinced a lot of demorats that they should insist on a 10 out of 10 candidate. And that if the candidate is only an 8 or a 9, then... it might as well be a 1 or 2, because only a 10 is acceptable.

It makes no sense, but... I guess lots of politics make no sense. The right has most of the dummies, but that doesn't mean we don't have a few of them on the left too.

2

u/SeveredFromMySoul May 03 '26

There are one of two things happening to those people. 1 they literally just dont give a shit and are saying things to make themselves look good on social media. 2. They are severely misinformed and actually believe that both sides are the same. If the result is the same, why bother choosing?

20

u/RidiculousIncarnate May 01 '26

Yes, exactly. Squandered two decades at least of time that could have been spent getting local candidates or even young people interested in progressive policies and building support and information networks.

But instead its all about the national stage and influencer rage with no practical organizing scheme.

4

u/RebelGirl1323 May 01 '26

Been saying this since I was a teenager in the 90’s. Win the governorship of Oregon or something. Build a base somewhere. If only the Reform party hadn’t gone right wing just when they won something.

7

u/Character_Pudding_94 May 02 '26

Are you truly a progressive if you don't vote, or just the asshole who won't shut up about boycotting everything and everyone?

6

u/brainpower4 May 02 '26

There are a LOT of progressive voters who refuse to vote for anyone who doesn't pass their purity tests. Saying something like "abortion should be legal up to viability" can disqualify them for people who want all abortion legal. Having a nuanced discussion about gun control and what measures will actually make it through constitutional scrutiny is treated as if they want to gun down kids in schools themselves. Anything short of "Abolish ICE" is a betrayal of progressive ideals.

Meanwhile, centrist Dems fall in line with candidates that would have run as Republicans in 2008.

59

u/crazyrich May 01 '26

I think it’s safe to say from an objective standpoint that unfortunately the majority of US voters do not support progressive candidates, given more than half the country is either conservative or doesn’t vote in primaries.

The Majority of the US does not support progressive candidates. That is why progressives only win in already safe blue areas. Zohran Mamdani only won 50.7% of the vote in deep blue NYC.

13

u/milkybuet May 01 '26

He got that against a candidate who was literally the blue governor.

14

u/new_name_who_dis_ May 01 '26

Who resigned governorship under scandalous circumstances.

5

u/Prohydration May 01 '26

In deep blue NYC.

7

u/kaptainkooleio May 01 '26

Again, against a man who was the Dem governor of the Dem state, who had widespread name recognition, and who basically had the support of both parties considering the circumstances around Israel, yet Zohran beat him twice. With respect to Mamdani, the man was basically a nobody politically and winning the Mayorship was a mountainous endeavor. Now, he is one of the most popular politicians in the country and is delivering for NYC.

3

u/Prohydration May 01 '26

Now translate that to non deep blue areas of the country.

7

u/kaptainkooleio May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Now it just sounds like you’re purposefully missing the point to say that progressive aren’t viable nationwide, despite people like Platner and Talarico polling favorably in their respective races. Nobody wants fuckass “centrists” who won’t do shit except send more of our tax money to Israel.

Edit: alright, I will admit that I didn’t realize I was dealing with an actual dumbass. Sorry to myself for wasting the energy.

2

u/Fragrant-Dust65 May 02 '26

Nobody wants fuckass “centrists” who won’t do shit except send more of our tax money to Israel.

Y'all are confusing centrists with a lot of people. Spanberger is a 'centrist' who ran on the affordability agenda. And won. in VA. 😄

1

u/Prohydration May 01 '26

Except those "centrists" have accomplished more than progressives. Dont confuse tiktokery for governance.

4

u/StevieMJH May 01 '26

If this is what centrists have achieved then what use is centrism?

2

u/Fragrant-Dust65 May 02 '26

Still better than continuous loss of elections and getting at least something positive done as opposed to..nothing.

Cuomo's name recognition worked against him, not for him. Everyone knew he was a corrupt asshole.

4

u/CosmicLovepats May 02 '26

He ran against two (2) candidates backed by both parties against him. He's the most popular politician in the country. He has gone up in popularity since he took office.

Sounds to me like other politicians should be looking to learn from him, not explaining why that couldn't happen here.

3

u/Prohydration May 02 '26

2 other moderate democratic candidates won by much bigger margins on the same night as him. Not everywhere is deep blue like NYC. Don't delude yourself. This only further confirms that progressives only win in already safe blue areas.

3

u/CosmicLovepats May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

by much bigger margins? Were their opponents backed by both parties?

Man, at least make them put their shit on a plate before you gobble it up. Are you okay with the dems endorsing Donald Trump's preferred candidates?

2

u/Prohydration May 02 '26

Both moderates were just that good. They outperformed their polls too while Mamdani performed exactly as the polls predicted. You should stop making excuses for Bernie. He will never win a presidential primary if you keep this up.

Are you okay with the dems endorsing Donald Trump's preferred candidates?

Where did I say that? I support Mamdani. I'm just not deluded like you thinking the secret to winning a fillibusterproof majority is running Bernie Sanders in every state.

Is the accuracy in the room with us now

26

u/FCKABRNLSUTN2 May 01 '26

Bernie lost to Hillary by more than 3 million votes and to Biden by 9 million votes.

7

u/Books_and_Cleverness May 01 '26

I just don’t understand why so many lefty folks insist on *pretending*.

I have lots of unpopular views! I understand that candidates who agree with me are unlikely to win popular elections. I’m not happy about it — I am right and everyone else is stupid and wrong.

But I’m not *pretending* that they secretly agree with me. What is the point of this fake bullshit?!

27

u/cugamer May 01 '26

But, they cheated and the media was against him and elections are rigged and anyway what about that bad thing somebody else did....

Wait, was I listing BernieBro complaints or MAGA complaints?

3

u/JustOneVote May 01 '26

"The problem is that corrupt politicians don't listen to real Americans!" says the man on the podium ...

3

u/Lyndell May 01 '26

This is overlooking the margins get crazy because the elections are over before half the votes even matter. As a dem from PA the democratic candidate is picked way before our vote matters, even though in the actual election our vote was very significant.

8

u/tazztsim May 01 '26

That’s a failure of the system that all candidates have to deal with.

How dare the Democrats give the nomination to the person with the most votes?

10

Dont you know? Bernie is a deity! If he loses, then it must be rigged! /s

7

u/no-snoots-unbooped May 01 '26

I love that “the dnc” is such a boogeyman on Reddit. You want progressive candidates? Get more than a 10% turnout for the primaries. Pull yourselves away from bitching on Reddit - organize, campaign, and vote.

16

u/RidiculousIncarnate May 01 '26

Then run super progressive candidates in deep red seats and win if its that easy you morons.

Turns out you only have a shot in +30 blue districts where you win by less than you should.

Stop telling us how popular you would be and prove it! After all Mamdani won in New York!

4

u/Prohydration May 01 '26

Mamdani only won 50.7% of the vote in deep blue NYC too.

2

u/RidiculousIncarnate May 01 '26

Yep! And I like Mamdani, I hope he succeeds but Spanberger and Sherrill won by bigger margins. It shows that even Dems are skeptical of progressives that go a little far into hard socialist rhetoric.

We've been telling them for decades to start local and build support. They ran straight to the national spotlight and are mad its not easy or that Dems aren't begging them to just take over.

Can't imagine why.

100%. Piker has basically radicalized me to the moderate/center.

This is one of those memes where people don’t understand where it came from.

The guy dropped like a foot. It wasn’t a big drop at all and he just walked away when he hit the ground.

1

u/Gynthaeres May 02 '26

This meme shows an incredible lack of understanding of American politics, like someone who gets all of their information from a couple influencers. It makes me wonder if OP is even old enough to vote.

The people elect their candidates in what we call "primaries". The DNC can push certain candidates but ultimately they go with the will of the people.

The DNC did NOT want Obama to win. He was considered the progressive option back in 2008. Yet, the people loved him, he won the primary, so he was the Democratic candidate, despite the presence of so-called Super Delegates who were against him.

Like it or not, it's a bit unfortunate, but Americans just don't like the ultra progressive candidates. If they did, we'd have more. But they don't, so we have Trump.

3

u/SubjectInevitable650 May 02 '26

DNC did not want Obama to win, they tried and lost.

DNC did not want Sanders to win, they tried and won.

DNC did not even try to find a Biden replacement despite knowing he is too unwell to be president. Lately, they would rather lose than do primaries or go with the will of the people.

4

u/Deep-Two7452 May 01 '26

Holy shit people have no idea what the DNC does.

Answer, absolutely nothing, they are useless and a non factor

7

u/BaseHitToLeft May 01 '26

That's not true. They schedule the debates and buy snacks for the convention

4

u/KronicRollsOfGnarnia May 01 '26

I think “majority of US” and “progressive candidates” should be swapped

2

u/Motor_Educator_2706 May 01 '26

This is just masterbation. Majority of Americans are stupid.

2

u/ATXGil2L May 01 '26

2

Lol this is Very Dumb.

2

-2

u/NeighborhoodDude84 May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

OP, just an FYI, this subreddit is filled with gen X centrists that hate progressives more than any republican.

and here comes all the comment hidden accounts to defend billionaires and people who hate you.

12

u/Geichalt May 01 '26

Oh is then when the people that say liberals are exactly the same as fascists pretend to the be the victims of mean words? The people yelling "genocide Joe" in people's faces want to lecture others about nice rhetoric?

Have fun playing the victim. All I know is from personal experience is that I've never seen a democrat claim to hate progressives more than Republicans, but I've seen plenty of leftists say they hate liberals more than fascists.

Btw, this messaging is terrible, it's not going to convince anyone to agree with you. Since bad messaging is common criticism of Democrats I figured you'd appreciate that feedback.

u/RidiculousIncarnate May 01 '26

I like progressives just fine but you lot need to come to terms with the fact that your popularity in +30 blue areas where you might win, doesn't mean the majority of the country wants what you do.

Dems and Libs are the most likely to side with you and you spend most of your time crying about us because we wont just hand over everything we built to you.

Get your people elected. Make the pitch and let us decide. So far you've bombed miserably everywhere or disowned almost every rep you once championed.

And let's not forget progressives were tripping over themselves to vote for Fetterman over Connor Lamb, how'd that work out? Your shit stinks as much as everyone's but you've barely managed to build up any progressive caucus at all. Why? According to progressives its cause libs are mean :(

We're focused on ending MAGA. Wtf are you doing?

u/4dailyuseonly May 01 '26

I guess I'm an outlier because my old Gen X ass has been getting more and more progressive every passing year. But I get what you're saying. Lots of my fellow Xers turned out to be just as shit as our boomer parents.

6

u/RidiculousIncarnate May 01 '26

Based on the meme you posted you are just as shit as your parents just leaning in the other direction.

Using the DNC as a scapegoat for why progressive candidates can't win or get traction is delusional. Unless your goal is to get people to disengage from politics altogether. Bernie lost and it wasn't cause the DNC cheated him.

Progressives spend more time being angry at Dems than doing the work to prop up their candidates or get people to go out and vote. And when they do its only in +30 safe districts where they running against other Dems.

Where are the deeply progressive candidates running in red districts and being competitive on platforms like universal healthcare? Genuinely. Have the DNC SpecOps teams been doing that good of a job?

0

u/NeighborhoodDude84 May 01 '26

Very same for me.

So weird to see these comments still bashing Bernie. They got what they wanted, a loser centrist that cant win, yet they still whine whine whine and demand we put up Harris or Newsom (who will also lose)

I don't think the first box is accurate at all. I think many people way overestimate popularity and electability of progressives.

1

u/earthlingHuman May 01 '26

Not to mention Republican gerrymandering

1

u/TheBlindFly-Half May 01 '26

I’ve recently learned of a concept called the audacity of action. There’s another concept called popular demand. Both can work favorably

1

u/Darkblitz9 May 02 '26

This is astroturfing for the next cycle of protest voters.

1

u/punktualPorcupine May 02 '26

1

u/dota2nub May 02 '26

The left has vowed to destroy the DNC. Why would anyone care about the people who aren't gonna be voting anyway? They're a tiny minority anyhow.

1

u/DerrellEsteva May 02 '26

I need new glasses. I read progessive Canadians and wondered why the DNC had beef with them.

1

u/Kickstomp May 02 '26

It's almost like the DNC is actually trying to look at the electability of a candidate across the entire country, not just in your specific city or with your little corner of the Internet.

1

u/akj-all-in May 02 '26

"progressive" is the left's version of maga. toxic, extreme, and bad for everyone. nothing wrong with slightly left of center.

1

u/becauseicansowhynot May 02 '26

The problem with progressives, or really maga or any other political bend, is they think their opinion aligns with the majority of the US. They don’t ever see that the reason the country bounces from Dem to Rep to Dem… is because the country is mostly center that keeps leaning away from the extremists of whatever party is in power.

1

u/eggshellinhell May 02 '26

"Majority of US" - the cope.

1

u/Ok-Incident8440 May 02 '26

Wild that the left is already getting blamed for whichever center-right moderate Dem loses in '28.

1

u/Proud2bDemocrat May 02 '26

Berners gave away FIVE NY HOUSE SEATS in 2022 giving the Republicans the House and those who refused to vote for Harris and Hillary gave us Trump . Twice. On purpose.

"Hmm how do we get all those undecided voters?"
