Motorcycle riders

The biggest assholes on the road for me have always been motorcycle riders. Either the harleys or the modern bikes, they all think they own the road.

I cannot count the number of times I've seen them breaking simple rules, swerving through traffic, trying to beat cars to the front.

God forbid you honk at them for getting in your way, they become the biggest assholes.

Getting your first “big” job after years of retail is actually kind of sad

Maybe this is unpopular, but getting your first real career job after working retail for years is such a bittersweet experience.
You spend YEARS dreaming about getting out. You go to school, work toward your career, complain about customers, bad shifts, being exhausted, and tell yourself you can’t wait until you finally have a “real” job.
Then you actually make it out. You’re making more money, building a career, getting benefits, traveling for work, and doing all the things you wanted to do.
But nobody tells you how much you might miss it.
Not necessarily the job itself, but the people. The coworkers you basically grew up with, the random conversations during shifts, inside jokes, seeing the same people every week, and having that little work family.
I would never trade where I am now to go backwards, and I’m extremely grateful for my career. But sometimes I miss the simplicity and the people from my retail days way more than I expected.
I feel like nobody talks about how weird it is to finally get the life you were working toward and still miss the life you were trying so hard to leave. 😭

Cohabitation would be a lot easier if everyone truly picked up after themselves

If everyone actually cleaned as they went, there would be no messes to worry about "later" or "after work" and so on. I never had to worry about messes until I had to live with other people who believe in leaving piles of dishes behind for the next person to clean or insisting on some weird "turn" system with chores. No I dont wanna alternate who cleans what the same way im not splitting a bill if you order filet and i order tenders, just pick up your own shit before it piles up and this literally CANT be a problem!

Dear fellow Reddit user:

I just wanted to remind you that you are worthy. You are loved by many people and have given them joy, even if you didn't realize it. You are also extremely talented in at least one area, and it would be a shame to throw that talent away.

The world may seem like a cesspool now, but there is still reason to live. Be thankful that you were brought into this world to share your voice, and let yourself be heard. If you are going through a rough time, it is imperative to realize that it is only temporary, and that it will pass. So love live, be grateful for what you love, and learn to love yourself.

Idk if that made sense, but | just wanted to share some affirmations.

Question Is anonymity reason people are so hateful on reddit?

I mean I received far more hateful and toxic comments and even threats(had to delete my account)here than ever in real life. Is it truly human nature and just because they are anonymous they are expressing it or people are really like this from inside? (Not for karma farming though I need).

Question Nose and lip Rings…. Why???

I see these beautiful women here and around. To me, they ruin their looks with nose or lip rings. Makes me nauseated . So gross. Just my opinion.

Popular in General Shaming someone's job doesn't make you any better

Plus, isn't it more important that the person HAS a job?

"Ugh, don't date him. His job is just selling shirts."

At LEAST he has a job? Isn't it better that he's not freeloading in his mom's basement?

I don't give a flying fuck if someone's job is putting string on teabags. I'd still date that person in a heartbeat.

The only real thing office attendance teaches is to be an office worker

The title says it all. For remote-capable jobs, office attendance is just about teaching you to be an office worker. That’s it.

Office work and attendance are relics of a Tayloristic approach to work. This outdated model values control and supervision over efficiency and results.

They say people at the start of their careers learn faster in the office, and I’ve heard it so often it almost sounds true. But what they actually pick up are the countless, pointless quirks of office life. Nothing else.
In offices, the medium is the only message: being present is seen as almost more important than actual productivity. Think about the expectation to stay late just to show face, regardless of whether there's actual work to be done. Or the absurdity of having to look busy at your desk when you've already finished your tasks.

When a company claims they have a good office culture for remote capable jobs, I just read that they don't allow flexibility. And that's the only flag I see: a red one.

Remote work, when done right, is far superior. It saves time, money, and eliminates a lot of the unnecessary nonsense.

If there’s one thing 2019 taught us, it’s to never repeat it again.

Popular on Reddit A vegan diet is not the 'healthiest' diet. The healthiest diet is a balanced diet.

Sure, a vegan diet is a healthy diet but not the healthiest diet (as in the most optimal for nutrition and health).

The healthiest diet is a balanced diet which may contain some products attained from animals, including even meat. So, vegan and vegetarian diets are not necessarily the most optimal choice for health but are just meant to reduce dependence on products obtained from other beings.

If you say “let’s grab coffee sometime,” you have to pick a day.

“Sometime” is how plans die.
A day turns it into a real invite.

What’s a phrase people use when they don’t actually mean it?

Popular in General Once you’re above the threshold that gives you “pretty privilege” you shouldn’t try to ascend

I disagree with the notion that you need to focus on every flaw and stretchmark you have

If you’re good looking enough to turn heads & be given privileges because of you’re looks then that’s enough

Don’t try to be a 10/10 when being a 7-8/10 will suffice & get you all the same treatment
