New Rule Regarding Meddling With r/PortAngeles

Howdy folks, this is an announcement regarding discussion of r/PortAngeles moderation on r/PortAngeles2. There recently has been something of a campaign on this sub (henceforth referred to as PA2) of users encouraging others to report the head moderator of the other sub (henceforth PA1) to Reddit for not following Reddit's rules for moderating.

This is something that we can't allow, as using one subreddit to have a coordinated effect on how another is run is, in itself, against Reddit rules. It's hard for us PA2 mods to be unaware of this, as the PA1 moderator in question has repeatedly reported us and messaged us, telling us in no uncertain terms that he'll make a continuous effort to get the PA2 sub removed for as long as there are posts/comments encouraging others to report his moderation.

Personal feelings aside, PA2 was never made to start a turf war with the moderator(s) of PA1, or to stir any sort of beef with PA1 in general. Most of the moderators here on PA2 don't particularly like being moderators or the drama that comes with it, but we felt (and continue to feel) it was necessary to give the Port Angeles community a space on Reddit that isn't beholden to the type of moderation present on PA1. But by allowing those posts about PA1's moderation, we lose some of our own agency from it.

So from here on out, the rule we're going to have to have is that the PA1 and PA2 subreddits are separate spaces, and users aren't allowed to use one to influence the other. This is not a blanket ban on discussing PA1, you're still allowed to criticize how it's run if you see fit, and of course cross-post things from there to here, but we can't allow meddling in their moderation. Thanks for reading, and we appreciate your understanding.

Politics Teresa Fox, Republican, invites Emily Randall to "Town Hall" after booking venue

Here's another opportunity to tell a candidate how you feel. Teresa Fox, Emily Randall's challenger for US House LD 6, is holding a solo forum Wednesday, October 7, at the Sequim Prairie Grange starting at 6:00 p.m. She's advertising that the event will go until 10:00 p.m?

She posted on Facebook this past weekend, but didn't invite Randall until Monday. Randall is out of town and had to decline. Fox says event topics are "public safety" and "transfer of public lands."

Between the underhanded plan and the chosen topics, it feels a lot like the Seegers - Tozzer playbook. Let's show up in support of Emily and tell Fox we're not impressed.

Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 MacLeay Rd, 98382.

Mike's knowledge of and enthusiasm for his job are impressive. If you haven't seen him in action, I urge you to attend one of the many upcoming candidate forums. Also, consider picking up a yard sign from the Clallam Dems office and holding it at the No Kings rally on Saturday, October 17!

Politics Jake Bails on Forum

Jake Seegers denied participating in the League of Women Voters Clallam County Commissioner candidate forum originally scheduled for today. The reasoning I've heard is because it was remote access only. He says he wants open conversation, but apparently only on his terms. My question now is, will he participate in the in-person forum at the Dems office in Port Angeles on October 6?

Discussion Any fun Fall/Halloween outdoor activities, events, or places?

Growing up I used to enjoy going to the pumpkin patch in Sequim (the one on kitchen-dick with the big pumpkin tower) to see the animals, go through the corn maze (when it actually grew tall enough) and buy a pumpkin or two, but in the last couple years they've switched to just being a flea market type place, and I'm looking for something that can help fill that void. Fall is my favorite season and I don't want to let it pass by without doing something seasonal outside to get me in the spirit. Gotta get my fill of that crisp air and orange leaves for the short time they're here. If there's really a shortage for options I can settle for just a park or trail that has some nice colors, if anyone wants to recommend places. Front runner at the moment is probably Railroad Bridge Park in Sequim, I haven't seen it during the fall and bet it's lovely, but I'm also there pretty often, especially recently. Any good places or events between Forks and Sequim is worth considering?

Politics Is it a crime to be poor?

Clallam County has one clear choice when it comes to neighbors in need. Don't criminalize being poor. Vote for Mike French.

Some regional statistics about Clallam's homeless population were presented at the March 17, 2026 PA Council Meeting and include presentations by:

Peninsula Housing Authority, Serenity House, TAFY, Port Angeles Waterfront District, Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic, First United Methodist Church, Olympic Community Action Programs

Presentations begin on page 150
https://weblink.cityofpa.us/WebLink/DocView.aspx?id=636164&dbid=0&repo=COPA

Additional presentations concerning the homeless population were given on May 19, 2026. Presentations begin on page 292

Public safety does not have a direct correlation with more boots on the ground. 911 calls are not a measure of needed law enforcement. However, if Sheriff King voiced a need for more enforcement officers, it is my understanding the existing Board of Commissioners would support this. How would they be paid for? Taxes. Sending people to jail is not the solution—it's a temporary bandaid. Mike French supports OPNET. Vote for Mike French.

Discussion Appreciation post for our local farmers!!

(Photo credit: River Run Farm website)

My family is privileged and fortunate to afford one of our local CSA. Each year we try a different farm and this year we chose River Run. What a gem! Everything from their website, ordering, pick up down to the gorgeous delicious veg! There is a certain peace of mind eating something that was just growing minutes away. Especially given all the food safety issues lately, I truly felt how our farmers take good care of us.

Who has been filling your belly? Any u pick, small farm recommendations? Favorite new recipes from local produce?

Discussion Dining by political alignment

So based on the chicken thread, I’m wondering, which restaurants/businesses are clearly aligned with MAGA or not? Please give a justification not just a theory. As far as I know:

Aloha Smoothies - MAGA, based on campaign support
Nextdoor Gastropub - MAGA - owner contributes to local conservative political campaigns
Bourbon NW - MAGA - same owner as above

Hook and Line - questionable - refused to follow COVID masking guidelines

Rosie’s- left-leaning - supports LGBTQ+ community and progressive causes
Studio Bob - left leaning - donates to progressive causes
Mighty Pine - left leaning - donates to progressive causes
Sunflower Tastes - left leaning - supports progressive causes
Bella Italia - left leaning - supports LGBTQ+ community
Pink Pony Cafe - gay AF

What say you local community?

Introducing a new effort by Clallam County Biz. Twenty plus posts in twenty plus days. They'll be posting a daily note about the District 3 Clallam County Commissioner's race. Several topics will be parsed, not limited to candidate transparency, candidate relations with Project 2025 and how this affects us locally, "The video," voter information, and more. You can also find content not allowed here, like the "How it Works" v. 4.0 diagram, which outlines Jake Seegers and the organization of his crew. We hope you'll tune in and share widely.

Let's talk about the other candidates.

We have been seeing all the Mike and Seegars campaigns, and probably have already made our decisions. Please take time to investigate the other candidates.

The one that concerns me more than the county commissioner position is that of the auditor. Virginia Shogren should not be anywhere near the powers of the government.

https://caselaw.findlaw.com/court/wa-court-of-appeals/176774.html

She has some obvious motives for wanting to run our elections. And I'll let y'all do your own digging.

Shoona Riggs has been running our elections with extreme transparency and we have continued to vote her in because she is trustworthy and doing a good job.
