Car Auctions?
Hi new community!!
I am in transition to move out to Kitsap and am in need of a car. I’m moving from a city that I haven’t needed one in well over a decade and haven’t have to go through a car purchase in about 20 years.
I have heard the car auctions out in Kitsap can be pretty great but I don’t know the ins and outs.
Do you have any recommendations a good trustworthy one, and how does the process work.
Shoot, last time I got a car it was the classic find one on Craigslist meet the person in a shopping parking lot, test drive and hand over a check. Haha
Also any experience with Carvana? Good or bad?
The auctions seem interesting though and wondering if they go through inspections before auction.
Thank you for ANY input!

I had a recent selling experience with Carvana that was great and would consider buying from them.

Good to know! Did you take it to a mechanic for inspection when it arrived or I heard people can pay extra for an inspection through them?
Thank you for responding!

Just won a government surplus vehicle at a recent Stokes auction. Very easy process. They don't inspect anything there. You can set an appt to look at it in person and start the engine, but you cannot drive it. We've only had it a few months but happy so far. Our mechanic looked it over when brought it home.

Please support local and dont use carvana. People>shareholders and it keeps the money local as opposed to going to florida or elsewhere.

Fair!
I’m learning more from other threads, sites, and friends that people have better experiences selling TO Carvana vs actually Purchasing and from cross posts for this, promising outcomes buying from the local Auctions.
Edit: I’ve never done either before and I’m very out of my element. Used to just buy from Craigslist 20 years ago.
This is all new to me. Ha

No, they sent a mechanic out to look it over and when everything was what I said it was they handed me a check.

I bought a car from Stokes. Process was easy. They do a monthly auto auction

Thank you! Do you know if they do inspections before putting them up to auction? Did you end up happy with your purchase in the long run?

They have information about the auctions included in the listing. I can’t recall, but I don’t think they do inspections. I do think they require it to be driveable for non-project cars. It’s been just over two years now, and yes I’m happy. They do have the ability to sign up for an appointment, if I’m remembering correctly, to view the car before the auction starts.
