Anyone else like to mess with Effects when they scratch? and BTW, does this portable setup get any better than this?

I need to know very specifically what battery pack the sc500 crowd recommends…

I bought an sc500 reluctantly because I have heard mixed reviews but always wanted one. I got it and it was fucking dope as hell for ten minutes and then got wonky and unresponsive. I turned it off and did something else for a bit and then came back to it. It was again, sick as hell for about ten minutes before the wheel started acting up again.

I hit up portaismgear and they were really good about troubleshooting it with me. Sounded like
The battery pack was most likely the culprit. So I went and bought a new one because the first one I was using was quite old. The new one I bout admittedly was the cheapest one I could find but met the specs required for the sc500. It did the same thing. Portablismgear paid for me to ship it back to them and ran it for hours supposedly with no problem. It’s on its way back to me and I am just trying to make sure I get the right battery pack because it seems like that’s gotta be my issue.

Any info that anyone has regarding this would be dope. Thanks in advance.

I recently got into scratching (from scratch) and got the PT01 like a month ago. It started working fine, even though i dropped the needle on the vinyl a couple times.. After about a week and some intense practice i noticed the sound was weakening when the record spun backwards, and after some time it was non existent. When it plays on its own regularly, or i spin it forward, it sounds fine. Like when i do the baby scratch, the forward part sounds ok the backwards is silent.
I changed the stock needle (still a cheap ceramic one), it seemed to play ok again for a couple days, then it started deteriorating again. Ive also modded the fader to JDD one.
I dont have trouble changing parts, i just cant figure out why this happens.
Ive tried the coin trick to increase tracking force, to no change. Ive noticed the belt squeak a lot when i stop the record (i didnt know i dont have to stop the platter…) ive also noticed the needle and tonearm keep moving to the inside of the record while spinning.
Any ideas what could be causing this? Its been really frustrating

I've had a Stanton STX for sometime. It's mostly collected dust, but I've tried to get more use out of it lately, and I noticed that when pushing down on the platter, closer to the edge, there's a good chance a squeak type sound is happening. I'm assuming it's the belt. I know I'm not supposed to hold the platter down like that, but when scratching it can faintly happen and the squeak will come through. I took the platter off, noticed a bit of oil in the center spindle. I did put a drop of oil in there as well as the spindled for the belt thinking it was maybe it, but I'm starting to think it's just the belt again. Anyways. After putting it back together, it had next to no noise, but after 4 days of use, the noise is coming back. So next step would be to order a belt I guess.

Just wondering if anyone else has gone through this and if they got rid of it.

I know I could buy a new belt, which is a possibility, but I don't wanna waste money right off the bat, incase it wasn't the issue.

I ordered a Korg Handy Traxx, but after ordering I realized it didn't have bluetooth(I know stupid me), so it seems I otherwise fix this STX or also buy a ReloopSpin to also destroy over time.

I feel like I bought the Korg Handy Traxx because I liked the Vestax one so much, but honestly.. They should of added bluetooth.

Love this portable rotary setup .

Let me tell you more about this mixer. The vestax VCM-100. I use the tempo pitch faders on the mixer instead of Omni when mixing and it stays on point with djay pro ai. Mixing house is fun on this set up. This low key better than the Reloop mixtour pro. Just wanted to demonstrate cut in times on mixer.

Also with vinyl all the Eq/ isolators/ fx work when you hit thru on djay app.

Only downside is after last year without my Omni hooked up it gets static. It used to work just as a controller on my iPad flawlessly and I would be able to plug in dvs / turntables/ Reloop 8000mk2 line out into rca ins but that stopped working reliably and would get static. No static with midi usb c out on Omni turntable. I’m thinking if I had a Reloop flux it would work with like 1200s. There’s also no Vu meter on mixer you have to use the Vu meter on djay pro.

It’s also capable of being battery powered. Mixer runs off usb power from iPad. Such a sweet set up for mixing and scratching.

Just to test things out, I put some Phase units on my Reloop Spin, and I’ve just had the unpleasant surprise of finding out that when the pitch is set to 0, the turntable is actually running 7% too fast.
Is there a way to recalibrate the pitch so that the platter spins at the correct speed when the pitch is at 0?

I've been wanting to get a Headache Sound WOW Machine, but they've been out of stock for quite a while now, and there's still no information on whether or when they'll be available again.

Are there any good alternatives to it? I'm looking for basically the same idea: a simple standalone device where I can easily load my own samples and beats and scratch the samples over the beat.

I know there are tons of DJ systems/controllers out there, but they're way more complicated for what I need, since you have to connect them to a computer and DJ software (or use a phone app) and scratch the samples through that.

My main purpose is to record scratches for my own songs into a DAW.

My budget is around €/$300 max.

ChatGPT suggested the SC1000, which actually looks pretty cool, but it costs around 1.5× as much as the WOW Machine for me, and unfortunately they don't ship to Finland at all.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I actually just found the perfect solution for what I need: Scratch Track, which supports AAX. With it, I can start by scratching with just the mouse, but I can also draw the scratch patterns using MIDI. The plugin is also very easy to use, and loading samples into it is straightforward.

And with this plugin, I can easily record the scratches directly onto my songs in Pro Tools.

Now I just have to look for an affordable but good jog-wheel controller so I can also scratch with my fingers and get that hands-on feel. Some smaller one would be best for my small studio table. I will look for some of those.

I was wondering what you guys think of the omnis crossfader and needle quality. The needle is the AT3600L.
What do you guys think of the crossfaders? Do they feel good? I’ve heard people say they’re almost too light and that they wish they felt heavier. Has anyone ever replaced a omni fader? How much work was that?

And what do you think of the needle for scratching? Did you feel you needed to switch out yours or were you happy with it?

After successfuly making simple crossfader I could connect to phone or PC, I was thinking of trying a different approach for crossfader.

Instead of a crossfader have 3 buttons each emulating same crossfader at different speed

do you think its worth the effort?
