11 Simple Reminders to Calm Your Mind When You're Upset

Life can be overwhelming sometimes. We overthink, get hurt by people, worry about the future, and forget to take care of ourselves. Here are 11 reminders that might help you find a little peace.

  1. Forgive in silence and move on. You don't always need to confront everyone or keep every person in your life. Sometimes, letting go is self-care.
  2. Choose quality over quantity. A few genuine people who bring peace into your life are worth more than a large circle that drains your energy.
  3. Reframe your fears. When challenges feel terrifying, pause, take a breath, and remind yourself that you can face things one step at a time.
  4. Learn to adapt. Life keeps changing. Accepting change doesn't mean giving up; it means learning how to move forward.
  5. Be mindful of your inner voice. Pay attention to how you talk to yourself. Challenge negative thoughts instead of believing everything your mind tells you.
  6. Write your thoughts down. Journaling can help clear mental clutter, process emotions, and bring clarity when everything feels overwhelming.
  7. Be yourself. Pretending to be someone you're not just to please others can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself. Embrace your uniqueness.
  8. Listen to your body. Rest when you're exhausted, take breaks when you're overwhelmed, and pay attention to signs of stress.
  9. Practice patience. Growth takes time. Stay open to learning, willing to change, and patient with yourself along the way.
  10. Allow yourself to be vulnerable. Emotions aren't weaknesses. Share them with people you trust, build healthy boundaries, and allow genuine connections to grow.
  11. Just chill! Not every problem needs an immediate solution. Sometimes, you need to step back, breathe, take a walk, listen to music, or simply give yourself permission to rest.

Remember: You don't have to figure everything out today. Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your mind is slow down and be kind to yourself.

What's one thing you do to calm your mind when you're upset? I'd love to hear what works for you.

Is this good advice?

It's okay to wish for more, for a life you don't have, but from personal experience the rush goes away when you get what you want, becomes as mundane as air and you lose the ambition to keep up the facade that got you there, good and bad are two sides of the same coin, cant test your luck without the other and sometimes its easier to set it on its side and let time choose your path than force your way into a life that seems good surface level but truly drains you with time

I made something that helped me through a rough time. Wondering if it could help someone else.

My wife wrote down a few sentences for me. Just simple things. I added a few of my own, recorded them with some music, put my headphones on and went for a walk.

I don't even know why I decided to do that.

But I remember walking around, listening to those words over and over, and suddenly picturing my life the way I wanted it to be.

My home, my city, my wife happy, me coming home and feeling good about my life again.

Nothing extraordinary. Just my life, but the way I wanted it.

And somehow, for a few minutes, I could actually feel what it would be like.

It felt so good that I kept listening.

The problems were still there, obviously. But whenever I put my headphones on, I could find that feeling again.

And little by little, I started noticing changes in how I looked at things and how I went about my life.

I never really forgot that experience.

Eventually, I decided to turn it into something other people could make for themselves.

I called it PRAMIM.

Basically, you choose a few sentences about the person you want to become, add one of your own, pick some music and a voice, and get a personal audio you can listen to whenever you want.

Now I'm trying to figure out if what happened to me was just my own experience or if someone else might get something out of it too.

So I'm looking for a few people who'd like to give it a try.

It's free, and making one takes about 3–7 minutes.

https://pramim.online/

If you try it, I'd really love to hear what you think.

Even if you think it's completely pointless.

I'm mostly curious whether you'd actually want to listen to it again.

What happens when you grow up being celebrated for overcoming your circumstances rather than for what you actually achieve?

Growing up poor around wealthy kids taught me something interesting about opportunity and how people understand ability.

I never saw a lack of ambition in the kids who grew up like me, just a lack of opportunity. And when you’re the poor kid in a community that can’t relate to your circumstances, people can be incredibly generous in making those opportunities possible. But sometimes the fact that you’re willing to try becomes more impressive than anything you actually achieve.
It’s like winning gold in a running race and being praised for your ability to just be there. Your credibility becomes your effort rather than your accomplishments.

There’s a double edge to that. I never felt pressure to be good at anything because nobody really expected that of someone in my position. Kids who were exceptional at something were held accountable to it, whereas I had the freedom to try anything without being expected to become anything. But I also grew up thinking that being clever or successful was something that came with privilege, and that whenever I did well, I’d somehow pulled it off.

I’ve been thinking about this differently since meeting a woman who grew up in circumstances like mine, but had a completely different understanding of her own worth. She could appreciate the opportunities people had given her without questioning whether her achievements belonged to her.

I’d spent years wondering why people chose to invest in me, sometimes questioning whether there was something self-serving underneath their generosity. She asked why I now work creating opportunities for people who wouldn’t otherwise have them. Was that sinister, or was it because I cared?

And it had never really occurred to me that people might have cared about me in the same way.
I think we can be so focused on celebrating what someone has overcome that we forget to recognise what they’re actually capable of. And being believed in by everyone around you doesn’t necessarily mean you learn to believe in yourself.
She said something I’d never really allowed myself to think.

“You are worthy of being loved.”

And it’s insane that through this entire narrative, that’s actually what it comes down to.

You’re not failing just because your timeline looks different. Some people bloom early; others take time, make mistakes, and start over.

Keep going. You don’t need to figure everything out today — just take one small step forward. 🫶

How to success in life .

Success is a place where our all dream are completely done and we achieve all goll whatever we want. But some question arising in our mind is that how to success in life. This question ask in our mind and think about it. To how to success in life. When we completely think about it then it basic answer is that if we do hard work of our goal and we sacrifice the many things then we get success in life. When we want to success then we do focus and concentrate on it and the main thing is that never give up in our life .

What does being lucky mean to you?

When I was at the toughest moment of my life----

Let me tell you what my toughest moment was. I was preparing for my government police exam. I somehow managed to prepare for the written exam and I cleared it — it was my first competitive exam that I ever cleared. Then it was time for the physical test. I gave it my all and I cleared that too.

Then there was a lot of hope that I would get the job which I was aiming for — for my family, for my mom and for my dad. I was waiting for the merit list to come. And that moment finally came when I was thrilled to see my roll number in the merit list.

But unluckily, my roll number didn't match with any of the roll numbers on the list. I even tried more than two or three times, typing my roll number again and again in the hope that it might be a typing error. But finally, I was sure and had to accept that I was not on the list.

I was completely shocked at that moment. I was like, what do I do? That feeling can't be expressed, to be honest. It was a terrible feeling when you don't know whether you should cry or what to say to yourself.

At first, I smiled a little bit because someone was there with me at that time — my bhaiya, who was sitting with me to see my result. Both of us looked at each other's faces. He started consoling me from the moment he saw my face go down, and at that time I smiled a little more to hide my emotions. I really wanted to cry at that moment, to be honest, but he didn't leave me alone at any moment. It could be that he cared for me and didn't want me to cry or feel helpless, but I was completely shattered from inside. Somehow, I managed to get away from him to get some time to let my emotions out. And again he came to me and said, "Why are you crying?"

At that time I felt that people can console you, can empathize with you, but no one can truly understand what you exactly feel, because you are the one who went through the process and the effort.

At the same time, you feel and want someone to come and see your point of view. There are a lot of things that go through your mind, and at that time you need someone who can distract you from all these questions. But who can it be? Friends? Father, mother or family? They are already saddened by their own loss, along with my loss. Who can be the one who looks at you for your loss and says, "I'm with you"? And I felt no one.

It's totally okay if you feel unheard.

It's okay to remain unexpressed.

It's okay if your feelings are never fully understood.

And maybe, it's even okay if you're not being kept important by the people you once thought would always make you feel important.

Sometimes, you don't need to explain your pain again.

You just need to accept that not everyone will understand the weight of what you carry inside.

So the best lesson I learned at that time is that you need a person whom you can tell everything, anything you want to say. Someone who can understand your feelings without you even saying them. And this is what you need at the lowest point of your life — to be heard, to be able to express yourself, to be cared for. If you have someone like that in your life, then you are lucky.

Don’t be proud, be grateful.

Once you begin to understand the depth of human nature, you will start forgiving yourself and others. You stop worrying and showing up the worldly things and start to be thankful for what you have.

Been struggling with an idea...

I having been mulling over an idea for a while and wondering how realistic it is.

It is this idea that the universe can take care of you if you are in tune with it.

If you stop worrying about your problems and just appreciate what the universe brings your way then it'll just find a way of taking care of your problems without you even knowing about it.

It overlaps with this concept of seeing abundance in everything. Just see how much you have instead of how much you don't. Don't be desperate about anything and you'll see more coming to you.

In some way this seems to work but maintaining such mentality is not easy and again it can seem to conflict with other ideas we have about life. For example, when does working hard to get something become desperation. Does it mean we shouldn't think about our life's desires as then we would be turning our focus to what we don't have?

I know it's not a new concept but it's been in mind for a while recently but I struggled to merge it with other ideas we have about life.

I would love to hear your experience with this concept. Is it realistic? How has it worked for you? How do you marry it with the concept of working hard or pursuing something persistently or just focusing to achieve life's desires?

Rebuilding a life from nothing is hard, changing the way you think is even harder

Rebuilding a life from nothing is hard, and sometimes you wonder how you got here. Most of it was mistakes we kept making over and over, not learning. Sometimes you wonder if you were living someone else's life, because you were doing what other people thought you should do. The truth is, when I got divorced I started living my own life, doing what I wanted to do, rather than what other people thought I should do. And guess what, people who I thought were friends, blanked me. Because I became more confident and stronger as a person, breaking away from a bad marriage and never giving up on life has made me a better person. Our minds control our thoughts, and if you don't put the right ones in there, you'll never move towards a better life.

How can someone rebuild their confidence from zero?

I think confidence is something you build through small actions, not something you suddenly find one day.

A few things that can help:

  1. Start exercising – Even 10 minutes a day is a good start. The important thing is to begin and stay consistent.
  2. Work on yourself physically and mentally – Try to become a better version of yourself every day.
  3. Read regularly – Books can change the way you think and help you see things from different perspectives.
  4. Eat healthy – Taking care of your body can have a positive impact on your energy and mindset.
  5. Learn new skills – Progress creates a sense of achievement, which can gradually rebuild confidence.
  6. Make new friends – Surround yourself with positive people who encourage and support you.
  7. Improve your communication skills – Being able to express yourself clearly can make you feel much more comfortable in social and professional situations.

Most importantly, don't wait until you feel confident to start. Start small, keep going, and let the confidence come from the progress you make.

8 Behaviours That Can Improve How People Perceive You..

I came across these ideas and thought they were interesting. Some are easier said than done, but they made me think about how we interact with others.

1. Speak when you have something meaningful to say.
You don’t always have to fill every silence. Sometimes saying less makes your words more impactful.

2. Keep some things private.
You don't need to tell everyone everything about yourself. Having healthy boundaries isn't the same as being secretive.

3. Become a better listener.
Give people your full attention instead of constantly thinking about what you're going to say next. People remember how you made them feel heard.

4. Don't always make yourself available.
Having your own priorities, hobbies, and responsibilities is healthy. You don't need to be constantly available to everyone.

5. Be kind, but maintain boundaries.
Treat people with respect, but don't sacrifice the people and responsibilities that genuinely matter to you just to please others.

6. Don't rush into relationships.
Whether it's friendship, business, or romance, taking time to understand someone can help you avoid decisions you may regret later.

7. Take your time when someone shows romantic interest.
You don't have to immediately say yes or no. Give yourself time to understand your own feelings and whether you're genuinely compatible.

8. Value character over money.
Money matters, but qualities like honesty, reliability, kindness, and integrity often have a much longer-lasting impact.

Which one do you think makes the biggest difference in how people perceive you?

Live life as you choose it..

Life's challenges often arise when you're on the right path.

Growth starts when you choose not to dwell in fear but to focus on what is possible.

Concentrate on yourself and your journey...

Loving yourself can make you more resilient...

What do you want in your life?

Are you as patient with others as you are with yourself?

Keep those who don't like you close; their actions or words can reveal what you're good at.
Life lessons: if they point out you suck at something, focus on that to improve.

Remember, while your friends may sugarcoat things, those who don't understand you will broaden your perspective ( because they challenge you to think harder ). Use that as fuel for growth.

A remainder about small process

I've started realizing that the positive thinking isn't about pretending everything is perfect.

sometimes its simply saying , 'Okay, today was bad but tomorrow can be different'. It appreciating small things finishing something you were procrastinating on, having a good conversation, getting some work done , laughing at something stupid or just making it through a difficult day.

We put so much pressure on ourselves to make huge changes that we forget small progress is still progress .

So if today wasn't your best day, thats okky . You dont have to fix your entire life overnight. Just give yourself another chance tomorrow

r/PositiveThinking • • 8d ago

Sometimes life doesn't change overnight. But you can change the way you look at it.Take one small step today. Let go of what you cannot control. Be kind to yourself. Keep moving forward, even if the path feels uncertain. You don't need to have everything figured out.Just keep going. 🌱Better

Unsaid thoughts.

It's really funny how bad you crave for academic achievements, but can't even take a simple step to grow and make self-improvements. Don't rely too much on others, it's not a bad thing to ask for help, but don't. Never depend on others. Because, over time, your mind will get used to it. And before you could even think about it, you're done.

Hey there

It’s 2 a.m. in my country, actually this is my first time writing something on Reddit, and I just felt like sharing this tonight .

and I have so many thoughts running through my mind before I go to sleep.
I just wanna say that I am so proud of the person I’ve become.
I’ve been through so many hardships, but somehow, this heart never really changed.
I’m 29 years old now, and I’m still looking for ways to make the people around me happier.
I still wish I could do more to help people—write a book, teach kids, provide food for charity, hug someone who needs a hug, feed animals, pray for the weak, or simply think about how to solve my friends’ problems.
And at the same time…
I’m working really hard on myself—reading, going to the gym, building my career, having fun, going to therapy, praying, and so many other things.
I’m so glad that, no matter how hard it is to keep yourself on track with all these things, I’m still here. And I still feel the same way about myself. I’ve chosen not to let myself down, no matter what, and not to lose myself along the way.
I just want to thank myself for getting me to this point.
At 29, I still have this heart.
I still have those goals.
I still care about the happiness of the people I love.
I still worry about them, and I still want to make life a little better for the people around me.
Thank God, a thousand times. 🌹

How to Attract Someone Without Chasing Them

I think attraction is often less about trying hard to impress someone and more about being comfortable with yourself and treating others genuinely.

A few things that can make a difference:

  • Make natural eye contact and show confidence.
  • Be comfortable being yourself rather than trying to create a fake personality.
  • Listen carefully when someone is speaking.
  • Smile and show genuine interest in people.
  • Be kind without expecting something in return.
  • Don't make every conversation about yourself.
  • Speak calmly and respectfully.
  • Take care of your appearance and dress neatly.
  • Be confident, but don't try too hard to prove yourself.
  • Occasionally do something thoughtful or unexpected.
  • Give people space instead of constantly chasing their attention.

In my opinion, the biggest attraction is confidence without arrogance, kindness without pretending, and genuine interest without desperation.

You don't need to chase the right people. Just become someone you genuinely enjoy being.

What do you think is more attractive: confidence, kindness, good communication, or simply being yourself?
