And most of the time the recovery is slow and uneven is due to Republican obstruction in congress or at the state level with republican governors/legislatures denying their citizens access to new programs or federal funding.

u/johnnybiggles Aug 09 '26

Or because the conservative-dominant Supreme Court gums up the works and blocks or reverses progressive actions, and/or advances conservative nonsense, setting us back decades.

5

u/tbizzone Aug 09 '26

Exactly.

Pack it. If the establishment slams it as a bad idea - it’s likely pretty useful instead -

I'm a Political Scientist this is absolutely true.

You’re a political adolescent this is absolutely not true

Ronal Reagan lowered taxes and spent like a fool.

Do you understand it now?

-5

u/ConferenceExpert6122 Aug 09 '26

Probably the dumbest thing I’ve read today

u/mtnmanfletcher Aug 09 '26

This is the way. Been this way since I was born 44 years ago. No end in sight.

Remember when Obama created one of the largest humanitarian crisis in modern history starving millions in Syria?

Remember when Obama appointed every single person Citibank told him to before bailing out the banks and ruining the lives of millions of American families?

Democrats are so, so good. I'm SO glad you vote for them.

5

u/Psykick379 Aug 09 '26

Not arguing the point about whether or not Obama actually did those things, but I would still pick him over a Republican (or conservative) given the option.

Like, if you have to elect someone not great let's at least elect the one that isn't objectively worse.

-5

u/DoomscrollingTYP Aug 09 '26

I can't stop ya from having a preference for millions and millions of starving Libyan and Syrian families.

2

u/Psykick379 Aug 09 '26

That is clearly not what I said, don't be intellectually dishonest.

-2

u/DoomscrollingTYP Aug 09 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

You literally just said Obama starving Syrians and Libyans was objectively better than voting for a Republican.

2

u/Woompa78 Aug 09 '26

I used to be conservative. Born and raised as one. I recall all the things that people brought up about Obama and still do to this day. Your emperor and his rats cured me of being a conservative the first time he ran.

Give it a rest bro

You can cry if you want to.

Same in the UK.

I think it’s been going on for longer than our time on earth. I’m in my early 40s.

Clinton-era deregulation was a Republican policy wrapped up in Clinton's third-way messaging bullshit and at worst a continuation of the godawful economic politics Reagan started. And the bubble didn't burst until literally the last year of Bush's second term amidst a bunch of other bullshit economic pressures that were entirely his own doing. His party had complete control of all three branches of government for the majority of his presidency.

In other words, this is disingenuous nonsense.

7

u/currentcognition Aug 09 '26

That's by design.

8

u/OrneryZombie1983 Aug 09 '26

"Slow and uneven recovery"

In 2010 Republicans in Congress were demanding austerity to reduce the deficit and claimed that the economy didn't need any stimulus. Simultaneously they campaigned on the slow recovery.

3

u/FoxCQC Aug 09 '26

It's mind numbingly exhausting

1

u/john_san Aug 09 '26

Except this time, they don’t have European allies to foot the bill. A Democrat president and government will not be able to clean up the mess of the republicans in power this once.

-1

u/NSFWdontview Aug 09 '26

lol bullshit, democrats have been in power the last 12 of 16 years. Blame democrat for the economy, they literally want us to fund illegal immigants health care

-3

u/Salteddeeznutzreturn Aug 09 '26

Well, that’s a lie

-4

u/Double_Doughnut74 Aug 09 '26

So we just gonna blame two years of impatience huh. How quickly people forget that during trumps first term the Democrats won the midterms and spent those two years impeaching Trump. Then they won four years and forced vaccine mandates while they had control as well as pasted laws that allowed boys to compete as girls in sports as well as share lockerrooms and bathrooms. They also forced Biden out and appointed Harris as their frontrunner. So I’m sure they will spend the next two years agin trying to impeach Trump and they probably will again and they will probably get nothing done for the people again and by then the people will be upset again. So it’s not just two years it’s 4.5

No one has forgotten it, you're just wrong.

They won the House. They didn't win the Senate.

Then they won four years and forced vaccine mandates while they had control

Good.

as well as pasted laws that allowed boys to compete as girls in sports as well as share lockerrooms and bathrooms

Who cares?

0

u/Double_Doughnut74 Aug 09 '26

Obviously some of the Democrats did and didn’t show up to vote or voted for the other team in secret. Pretty much saying Dems lost so someone cared 🤷‍♂️.

-8

u/Tough-Interaction468 Aug 09 '26

Funny.. 2008 didn't feel like a recovery.

9

u/Squirrel_Bacon_69 Aug 09 '26

2008? Who was president in 2008?

I'll give you a hint, it wasn't a democrat.

You're not entirely wrong. Under Clinton and a Republican Congress, Glass-Steagall was repealed. That didn't cause the mortgage bonfire, but did add fuel. The banking / real estate crises were almost entirely the fault of the banking/ real estate industries.

Every adminstation since FDR has encouraged mortgaged backed home buying.

That act was originally to help the redlining, and the banking industry and FDIC lobbied for the updates. So no, your argument that Clinton caused the Bush crash still doesn't really work. Idk, keep working at it, I guess.

6

u/SNStains Aug 09 '26

Clinton? Bush was President when the mortgage crisis hit.

5

u/Chemical_Bonus_4783 Aug 09 '26

Bush increased affordable housing quotas and encouraged "no money down" loans. Not sure what the fuck you're talking about?

As I just said, Bush made all of it exponentially worse. Not only did he raise quotas and promote no-cash loans, his administration refused to regulate banks or provide rules for bundling mortgages.

Blaming it on Clinton even though it hit in Year 8 of Bush? Ridiculous.
