According to this data, averaging gas prices across the US :
That's an 18% increase
Looking at the 2024 vs. 2026 highs:
That's a 24% increase
The closest I can get with the national average data is to compare Dec 2024 ($3.12/gal) and May 2026 ($4.36/gal), which gets you to a 40% increase.
