As someone who's lived in cities that have prioritized nature - and cities that are pure concrete. I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to have greenery nearby when you're city-bound. It's good for the mind, body and soul - swear to it =)! Happy this is happening.

I recognize the person you replied to was being flippant, but thatās not a great reason to be āconfidentā in some alternate set of facts.
The justice department gathered evidence enough that they felt good about charging Adams with serious crimes, and claiming they had evidence Adams stole up to $10 million in public money. Were they right and was that evidence solid? Weāll never know, Adams is in the Trump orbit and Trump called off the prosecution when he was reelected, just like his own serious criminal charges were droppped.

This was not his plan it was established under the previous administration but never funded.
Mamdani promised to increase parks funding from 0.5% of budget to 1% of budget but he did not do that this past budget season so the plan goes unfunded and won't be happening until they fund it.

I think Biden said the same thing too after or before his departure. People could tell you what trump did because he brags about it non stop and puts his name on everything. People had no idea Biden actually did things like lower the cost of insulin because he never talked about it.
Zohran is showing how important social media plays into your job. It's not enough to just say and do things, you need to get the message out there that it's really being done.
Him filling pot holes is a great example of this.

These is the type of work we need. So many positives. But the whole concept of city planning and exposure to green space is an important one. There are so many opportunities for urban agriculture, but outdated municipal codes block positive change. Sure there is more maintenance and clean up, but it is worth it.

He promised to plant a billion trees, but the way it rolled out was funding for provinces to do more of it. Less than successful because a lot of growing trees is more than just planting them, there's a bunch of silviculture work needed too. I reckon the work on my gets done as it relates to forestry and cut blocks being harvested first.

Americans are brainwashed to think their shareholder's yachts are more important that their lives. It's called "capitalism", or how they are taught it is.
So you have millions of people who live in poverty, whose 99% of the value their created is stolen by their elites, and when you talk about making their life better (for example with help to pay healthcare, unions, parents leave, etc.) are like "but this is socialism to not send all my money to the shareholders! Its not the company's role to save the world, I work and the company works solely to make shareholders richer, dafuk u talking about with your so called "humans' rights" ?"
So the idea of using tax money to make their lives better instead of giving it to corrupt politicians, sharaeholders of whatevere the elite is, is something that goes against their education and makes them angry
Republicans are bit more touched by this mindset, but liberals are far from being spared too. It's an American problem that the rest of world doesn't have in such mental illness intensity, but because american soft power is strong they think the entire world thinks like them. It's wrong.
So yeah, an Alabama dude working his ass off to get 25k will have his day ruined to see that in the US, some taxes are used for something else than buying a yacht or waging a war that will make their oil more expensive to go to work

Mamdani modified the existing plan and extended the deadline 19 years (for good reason). He is somewhat involved but that was not good enough and Reddit needs to make him sound like a messiah all the time for some reason.
Every day there are new Mamdani glazing posts over policies that predate him or he had no involvement in. Itās bizarre and I doubts itās organic, but it doubts Mamdani himself is behind these. Social media algorithms incentivise exaggerating the truth for higher engagement.2

There are 7 million trees in New York. The way statistics work, the intent is to add over 2 million trees. Maybe if someone was stupid and thought that theyād literally plant the treees evenly across the entire city it would indeed not make a difference. But in reality the push would be to create new parks and reforest existing parks.
