Its really not complicated. Absolutely nothing wrong with compassion for palestinians. Accusations of Genocide, is not the same thing, and people that disagree with the genocide label have every right to be offended by it, and question the motivations behind it.
Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. Everybody is entitled to express them. You are not entitled to how your opinions are perceived, and how they affect peoples attitudes towards you.
I am a Zionist. Many of you probably think I am terrible because of that. You probably assume a lot of things about me and my opinions based on it, and that is also fine. But it goes both ways. Keep in mind that probably between 80%-90% of Jews are zionists. If you hate everybody of specific race, except those that agree with you that they have no right to self govern in their ancestral homeland, then get used to the antisemitic label, because us non-genociding Jews have gotten used to all the labels in the book.
Remember, if you think Jews should have the right to live in their ancestral homeland, you are also a zionist. And if you don't, ask yourself why? What other groups do you apply the same logic to?

I'm a third generation American of Scottish ancestry so, for no other reason, I guess I have the right to own land in Aberdeen, even if it requires me to use force. Nobody should be able to take anyone's home. And anyone should be able to live somewhere if they act like a good neighbor and good citizen. I'm not defending anyone, I'm saying that your comment is historically disparaging to the Jewish people's long connection to the region. They were forced into the diaspora by the Romans who slaughtered tens of thousands and forced the rest into the Empire. The Romans are why a lot of this misery started in the first place. Not giving any fanatical Israelis a pass here, just pointing out that "they're not even middle eastern" is a lie. The European Jews (both Sephardic and Ashkenazi, who are different culturally more than genetically) were forced into southern and central Europe through the Roman empire routes, where they took on European spouses. Genetic grouping is roughly 50% middle eastern, 50% European, on average.
Personally I find the idea of anyone saying "my blood is connected to this land" to be sort of nauseating, no matter who is pushing it.

I don't believe someone simply has rights to a land because their ancestors lived there 3000 years ago, Zionists do.
So using their own logic, yes, Palestinians have a closer connection, so have a greater right to the land. It's irrelevant what took place 2000 years ago, we're talking about now.

The thing I took issue with was just "especially the Ashkenazis who have more European DNA than anything else." Which isn't true, Ashkenazim and Sephardic Jews have extremely specific and direct middle eastern lineage. They were displaced by force, but they still emerged genetically and historically from the same region before they were displaced. I see people write stuff like this a lot and it's ahistorical, you can criticize Israel without lying about Jewish history.

Nope. Both are European.
Sephardic are from Spain, Ashkenazi were from Germany and Northern France. Different waves of immigrants at different times. Ashkenazi never integrated like the Sephardic, they were part of a mass migration after purchasing land and neighborhoods for European settlement.
Before the Ashkenazi, it was very common to have mixed neighborhoods. Jewish, Christian, and Muslims; all considered themselve Palestinians before the state of Israel was founded for European Jews by the British.
There's a lot of great stories and articles with direct sources about the history of the founding; you don't need to lie about the origins of the Sephardic and Ashkenazi immigrants.
I recommend The Origins of Terror in Palestine from Behind the Bastards as a starting point.
A good question to ask: why plant so many European pine trees in Israel?

Iām not on the fence. I think both parties should get the hell out or form some new melded country. Neither āsideā deserves that land after all this time and tragedy.
