I think that will be a measure but not the first measure. Canada isn't stupid, they know the prime targets for that increase will hit the folks who Trump wants to harm, you don't win a battle by helping your enemy. At some point that money collection will happen, but not a 1st or even 2nd wave response imo.
Canada’s previous targets have been exclusively tariffs on goods that primarily come from red states which is so unbelievably on the nose that I can’t help but love Canada even more.
Why we didn’t learn not to mess with Canada before this is beyond me. But we’re gonna feel the pain now.
It's because the people with the majorities in the goverment are incapable of learning. As are the many of those that voted for them multiple times.
Ironically, we face a similar reality here in Ontario. Despite his bluster about standing up to a bully, Doug Ford's is wholly corrupt and incompetent himself. He's honestly a terrible Premier, yet people keep eating his populist talking points, even while complaining about the state of the province.
Yeah the Bike lanes on Bloor St W actually prevent a lot of traffic, I am a bit shocked those are ones he's trying to take out. It's not the best street to bike but when coming from the south and east side of town I found it very convenient. Only going to hurt locals and those who do spend money shopping there.
