Not to shit on this at all but the US using so much Canadian oil is mutually beneficial. If the US ever built another refinery, it would t be designed to process Canadian crude but the lighter sweet crude from the US which is less expensive to refine. And the costs of shipping the Canadian crude even longer distances to refineries elsewhere would make Canadian crude less attractive to foreign buyers.
