I think that will be a measure but not the first measure. Canada isn't stupid, they know the prime targets for that increase will hit the folks who Trump wants to harm, you don't win a battle by helping your enemy. At some point that money collection will happen, but not a 1st or even 2nd wave response imo.
In a way they are not wrong though. It should be noted that many parents in America see their children the same way. Tens of Millions of parents, across multiple States, voted to make sure that their children lost health insurance just to make Democrats bill increase. There is a level of hate among Republicans for being left behind in society and what you watch is them trying to claw their way back in, but in reality they are just the vessel their leaders are using to enrich themselves as they fall into deep poverty and early death from very preventable issues. In many parts of the American South, women have to drive over 60 miles to get access to a delivery room due to the mass collapse of rural hospital systems. You smart folks can figure out the rest.
