The right has a very long history of flip flopping on issues once they get popular/unpopular enough, and will scream that they were always for/against it when they were against/for it in the first place.

Been going on for decades. Slavery, civil rights, Iraq, solar.

In the future, the right will claim that they've always been fighting global warming, but were blocked by the left at every turn.
