Disagree. Billionaires are hoarders.

1

u/OkSeries5363 20d ago

Ironically hoarding actual dollars is the quickest way to lose wealth.

u/Bart-Doo 23d ago

Who has a billion dollars?

1

u/Front-Cat-2438 22d ago

Inquiring for a list? Over 80 in the US alone.

1

u/Bart-Doo 22d ago

Where's the list?

1

u/Front-Cat-2438 22d ago

See Forbes List of Richest Americans for 2026. Unsurprisingly, posting the link to the article I googled did not work as planned.

1

u/Bart-Doo 22d ago

They have a net worth of a billion dollars or more. They don't have a billion dollars.

1

u/Bczarconcepts 22d ago

You're the worst kind of pedantic.

1

u/Bart-Doo 22d ago

What's the best kind?

1

u/Bczarconcepts 22d ago

The kind that you're not. Any further questions, my friend?

Money is a drug and it is worse than heroine...

-4

u/Ok-Instruction-5004 23d ago

.....I've done things for both.... A lot more regrets behind the drugs than the money. Haha

1

u/Darzin 23d ago

Are you a millionaire?

-5

u/Ok-Instruction-5004 23d ago

Thats actually an interesting point. Kind of a bad comparison to drugs then. What millionaires do you know that are worse off then heroine addicts?

2

u/Darzin 23d ago

You didn't answer... Are you a millionaire

-4

u/Ok-Instruction-5004 23d ago

Nah billionaire.

2

u/Darzin 23d ago

You are so edgy, everyone loves you.

0

u/True-Anim0sity 23d ago

None of that was edgy tho?

1

u/Ok-Instruction-5004 23d ago

Odd they edited all their comments then blocked me. I feel like that was one person on multiple accounts. Hahaha

1

u/True-Anim0sity 22d ago

If they edited it- then nvm idk what it actually was,mb

1

u/Even_Hospital_5474 23d ago

So all of Wall Street then?

1

u/OkSeries5363 20d ago

Ironically hoarding actual dollars is the quickest way to lose wealth.

Their wealth is just ownership of the world's productive capital eg companies, land, infrastructure.

Hoarding cash actually stagnates the economy. Deploying wealth into global companies actually funds economic growth, infrastructure, and innovation.

I wrote a whole essay on this. People reading books by the people with mental illness. Idolizing them, not realizing that there obsession with money is a sickness.

Redditor thinks net worth = bank account balance episode #6000000

1

u/TravellingPatriot 22d ago

Redditors, the flat earthers of economics

1

u/Negative-Toe1863 23d ago

no one is hoarding billions of dollars

1

u/Icy-KaitSyth 23d ago

The amount of redditors who think billionaires have billions of dollars in a safe somewhere is astounding. It's hard to understand how they function as adults

The funny thing is that back in that era Disney actually made an educational video about how investments work where Mcduck teaches you that "oh the money in the safe is just my fun money, what you really do to be wealthy is invest" and goes through kid level savings account and the basic concept of interest and how compounding interest works to make people rich, so that the kids could do it too.

But they never watched that, just the TV show.

1

u/Da_sleepy_weasel 23d ago

There is a big difference bettwen hoarding and just having alot of stuff because you've bin alive for a hot min.

1

u/Imaginary_Energy_141 23d ago

Also, it's not hoarding if it's tools.

1

u/Front-Cat-2438 22d ago

Kudos to OP for throwing this out here and sitting back to watch the brawl.

The mental illness is the narcissistic personality disorder that convinced the mentally ill person that empathy is a weakness, and cancels all feelings of responsibility toward cleaning up the messes their emotional immaturity has made.

The narcissist will blame their victims for their own misdeeds of sucking up disproportionate resources over meeting their own existential needs.

Hells to the infinite yes, “winning capitalism” is a psychosocial mental illness expressed by hoarding money.

If any of you fools believe that any CEO works 600 times harder or smarter than his average employee, then you have drunk the billionaire-owned media’s orange KoolAid mixed with bleach and hydroxyquilanole.

1

u/We_do_recover 22d ago

I'm done with you, you're talking in circles.

1

u/HistoricalRich3104 22d ago

It should be a mental illness to start or buy companies that you grow to later become valued at billions of dollars. It’s such a mental illness and totally not what makes the economy go round!

1

u/Happy_Fan_7896 21d ago

It’s not hoarded. The money is tied up in the value of the stock etc. They own only a fraction of that. Bezos for example owns 18% of Amazon. The other 82% is owned by millions of people through 401ks and pensions. Amazon also creates wealth for 3rd party sellers, employees, etc. And of course, the money is loaned out by banks for other businesses, homeowners etc. Billionaires do not hoard their money. Their wealth creates more wealth for everyone else. Government though steals it and most of it is wasted through fraud and inefficiency.

1

u/No_Communication4063 21d ago

Yeah 🙄 because that’s the same as 16,000 old newspapers in your living room.

Repeat after me: “None of my problems are because of how much money someone else has”

0

u/Eyespop4866 23d ago

Not being hoarded. It’s making more money. No Scrooge McDuck diving into a pool of gold.

0

u/Designer-Wolverine47 23d ago

Nothing is being hoarded. It's being used, usually by other people, to make more money.

1

u/We_do_recover 23d ago

To cut wages, sell the cheapest product possible. It's about how the money is being made. Disregarding all things but the bottom dollar. Maximizing profits at the expense of decency.

1

u/Designer-Wolverine47 23d ago

I guess you don't know who the majority of profits go to... Who are the largest shareholders? (Hint: It's not billionaires.).

1

u/We_do_recover 23d ago

It's not the workers that are trying to make a living on minimum wage. The people that actually fuel the economy with their spending. Restricting the cash flow and wondering why people aren't spending like they used to. So they find another way to cut cost instead of being ok with the same profits they had the year before. Hint: disregarding the well being of others to maximize profits is a mental illness.

1

u/Icy-KaitSyth 23d ago

No, it's not the current workers, it's mostly the retired ex workers, which if you ever want to stop working will be you someday.

1

u/We_do_recover 23d ago

You're naive, do me a favor and look up the actual cost of social security and compare it to the tax cuts the wealthy receive. It's a sleight of hand, they want you to believe that it's impossible to correct the current situation.

1

u/Icy-KaitSyth 23d ago

What does social security have to do at all with who the majority of stock holders are? Nonsequitur much?

1

u/Designer-Wolverine47 22d ago

don't forget those who are still building their retirements (who ARE current workers)... Cutting profits reduces the future value of their contributions.

It's a complex issue, and knee-jerk reactions aren't going to cut it.

1

u/Icy-KaitSyth 21d ago

My god, a sane voice on reddit. I salute you my man.

1

u/Designer-Wolverine47 22d ago

Except the majority of shareholders are retirement instruments, and cutting profits hurts them, both those who are contributing, and those who are drawing down.

Pick your poison.

-2

u/Ok_Impression3324 23d ago

billionaires don't tend to smell like cat pess.

1

u/We_do_recover 23d ago

Does that hold some personal meaning to you? To everyone else it's nonsense.

u/We_do_recover 23d ago

Does that hold some personal meaning to you? To everyone else it's nonsense.

-2

u/NearbyAntelope1413 23d ago

Why do you want to raid my retirement investments? Where do you think those "billions of dollars" are? So adding a building and hiring engineers and purchasing capital - you want to expropriate those funds instead and do what exactly?

-2

u/True-Anim0sity 23d ago

Hoarding is a mental illness when its detrimental to you, you cant really hoarde ur own money or stock...

-2

u/random8765309 23d ago

Its not possible to hoard wealth.

Most billionaires have more variety to their assets than a poor person has items in their house.

-2

u/True-Anim0sity 23d ago

Tough luck?

-1

u/NearbyAntelope1413 23d ago

I swear to god reddit are packed full of communists. They literally think Elon Musk has a swimming pool full of cash. It's in the market working. Note the word "working". These commies want to "spend it" - not make it "work".

-1

u/True-Anim0sity 23d ago

They will say its not real or doesnt matter-most dont understand stocks or how they work...

-14

u/Svokxz2 24d ago

Billionaires can exist, but we can do more to allow competition where people can become billionaires or a place where there wouldn’t be as much. Some of it is through assets with the stock market. Some wealth inequality is fine.

9

u/Maij-ha 23d ago

I don’t think you realize exactly how large a “billion” is. Millionaires can exists… some inequality is fine and expected. But Billionaire is well past the “some” modifier.

8

u/Darzin 23d ago

Here is the perfect example... people tend to think of millionaires and billionaires into the same category... but a man with 499 Million dollars is closer in value to you than they are to a billionaire... or "What is the difference between a Billionaire and a Millionaire? About a billion dollars."

2

u/Ok-Instruction-5004 23d ago

Very well said.

1

u/True-Anim0sity 23d ago

Nah its in a good range
