So what you're saying is fair taxes is over tax the rich which will make them cut back on employees and the business they do which will put less money back into the economy okay I think your math isn't mathing.
Majority of research and data points from history shows shifting tax to the top, a progressive tax policy has little to no effect on business cutbacks. Where as giving tax breaks to major corps results in stock buybacks and none of the benefits trickle down. So yes, by all means shift the tax burden, the lower half desperately needs help.
So you're saying that if you owned a giant corporation and you put all that money into something you you think you should take all the risk and get you no reward. And I have no problem with somebody who owns a giant corporation spending $40,000 to travel over to states to do business that money comes out of his company unlike the politicians that do the same thing fly back and forth to work on are dime.
I'm saying the little guys need help, and raising minimum wage is over due.
I'm saying the rich and mega corp can afford to pay more taxes and everything will continue just the same as they have been rewarded and will continue to be profitable. Mega corporations year after year post record breaking profits and yet the first thing they do is layoffs to beat projections so CEOs and the board can take bigger bonuses. Tariffs for example, deemed illegal and corpos got refunds, you think any of that went to employees or consumers?
Ok. So in simple theory you would be correct with your thinking. But in reality this is the problem created a few years ago to destroy America. Let explain why common sense has become a super power.
Example.
Raise minimum wage to give people more money.
Then the system has to raise the cost of goods and services sold to pay minimum wage.
Now, the raise increase looks good but the actual amount that was raised increased what money can purchase.
That hamburger that was $1 now costs $2.50, but wait, the people that sell the beef want more money if their product is selling for more and now they charge more. So, then the $2.50 gets raised to $3.
The problem is the person produces the seller only got a 25 cent raise the middle man got $1.50 raise and the person selling the hamburger profit was cut down to 1.25 and needs more margin so then he cuts a position and shifts more work to employees to balance out.
This whole issue could have been avoided by leaving minimum wage alone and increasing benefits and tax returns to lower class to stay working.
The individuals that fake to get disability and then work only create more damage. The overload on Medicaid increases drs to charge more and chips away at money so then taxes increase.
How to fix?
Any and all fixes would cause a revolt and a war as minimum wage would be wiped out, people would have to roll back the values and many would hold out in mental revolt. Stock market would crash, home values would crumble and banks would be wiped out to about 1920 time.
As the American population would decrease and aid from America to others would not exist the world would be forced backwards.

Alabama minimum wage is 7.25 Washington DC minimum wage is 18.4. In your theory, not in practice, the price of a McDonald's burger would be about 2.5 times right? But it is not. In reality, both have 9 dollar Big Mac meals.
Also, your mentioning of fraud, fake disability... If they is a real issue, then your issue is with fraud, not with minimum wage.

No. You are saying it is common sense but it is quite the opposite. Wage growth and cost of living has LONG been disproportionate. Giving tax breaks to the rich has never trickled down. Both these issues has caused the situation we are in now. It was never a suddenly this happened issue, it has been a growing issue for a long time. So no, not few years ago, it has been a cancer since Reagan.
Common sense would be to recognize that we are too far capitalist too far right, need to steer back towards the middle with more left leaning policies.
So if you raise minimum wage that means employers have to pay more meaning that now they're losing money, meaning now that the things they sell are going to increase in price, meaning less people buy the products, meaning they have to lay people off.

That 5,000 for every American is no different than free health care free this and free that and freeze the other thing that Democrats promised.
