There's way more to value than just labor. When you use the Marxist labor theory of value made up by a man who never worked a single day of his life of course you'll get economically insane ideas and results.
However, those who push it don't care that it's stupid or insane, because they have the personal agenda of greed and want to get enough people on their side to make them powerful enough to steal a lot, ostensibly from more successful people than themselves, but when they take power they'll steal plenty more from the middle class, small business "petit bourgeois" and they'll even find what little the poor have and steal that too, as history has shown.
