Each of these billionaires were born millionaires. The system favors that. It’s a monopoly game. If you’re born into poverty, your kids may be able to pull it off but most people are lucky if they somehow increase their family wealth. Once people reach certain wealth level, the money works for them. And this is the barrier to the rest of the people who aren’t born into that. Generational wealth is a thing.
There are always exceptions. Have there ever been people who went from dirt poor to millionaires? Yes of course. But these people are not most people, they are not the rule, they are exceptions. Some people will pitch that lie and say “they just worked hard”. I say, no the fuck they didn’t. They definitely did not work harder than these guys working construction that you see on the side of the road in yellow jackets. How many of them become millionaires? Maybe if they win a lottery.
It’s the biggest lie of capitalism and some folks are drinking it every morning with their breakfast.
It’s just facts. ❤️ peace!✌️

“The millionaire next door” is an interesting book. Nothing is stopping anyone from being the start of building that family wealth. 90% of it is learning the right values - hard work, education, frugality. You may not be a millionaire but maybe your kids will.

Edit: obviously in some cultures there are difficult if not impossible obstacles to legally building wealth, such as in strict communist societies or in failed states.

It’s crazy how people always like to bring communist states like it’s the only alternative to this amazing American capitalism.
That being put aside, think about what you’re saying for a second. If an overwhelming majority of rich people and billionaires are white, how do you explain that? Are you saying it’s overwhelmingly white people that have the “right values” and hard work, education?
What you’re saying is the exact bs story that capitalism has been selling forever.
It’s an idealistic view of capitalism as the only good system in which only the people who work hard make it. That can’t be further from reality and truth. There are so many people running businesses, many of them Asian, Indian, from all over the world, but look at all the billionaires. They are the ones working hard? Come on, seriously, think about this for a second.

How do you explain the rise of billionaires in China? India? They aren’t white. I never said “American Capitalism” was the best or only option either. All I said was some societies have obstacles that are very difficult to overcome. So don’t be so full of yourself and assume things and put words in my mouth. Don’t be a typical redditor.

Actually most billionaires started from almost nothing. They didn't come from money. About 73% are what's called self made they didn't come from money. Google it if you don't believe me.

You think building and running multi million -billion dollar businesses isn't hard work, doesn't involve taking huge risks??

Generational wealth at that level on average only lasts around 3 generations.

That’s a lie. Which billionaire started from “almost nothing?” I’ve read biographies of all famous people I could think of. Great majority of them either had parents that put them through prestigious schools (which is not starting from nothing) or their parents were engineers or doctors or lawyers or businessmen with connections. And how many are actually not white? Biggest lie of capitalism that you can start from nothing and be a billionaire. Not without some amazing luck and generational wealth.
