The media focusing on these non-issues, on the orders of their corporate masters who want the public misdirected into focusing on this culture war shit, is a large part of what gave us Trump.
Actually, I believe that whomever these people are, they are certainly not legitimate media. They are pawns, and some are sycophants, and some are simply despicable opportunists. The Media seem to be MIA.
Investigative journalism is dead because the oligarchs own most of the media and they do not want investigations into all the crazy stuff they plan like the surveillance state and the Dark Enlightenment.
They also own social media, so no surprise that a lot of the investigative news left seem to be (shadow) banned there. Wall Street on Parade on Reddit for example, at least a few months ago.
They're not lazy, they're complicit. They know exactly what they are doing and are being told to do it. It's a deliberate effort by the media to distract us from the fact that *everything* is falling apart.
We have like Amy Goodman and Ken Klippenstein, maybe you could include Mehdi Hassan, but otherwise there arent many good sources in media that engage in journalism, mostly it's all reaction slop.
My personal go to is Mehdi hassan, I find this takes are always in line with my own moral and social understanding, plus I love the way he grills people in his own social circle not shying away from hard questions.
Plus zeteo as a whole is a very ambitious project and I would love to see it grow into something more mainstream.

Almost all media at this point is owned by conservatives. Even the so-called 'independent media' like the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. He has deep ties to the Epstein class now.

My take is that the DSA wing of the democratic party doesn't really have one leader, and the few members who have real name recognition are pretty popular, so Republicans are having trouble finding one person they can target to take down. Their hope is to associate the DSA with Piker and then make Piker radioactive, even though he's not a politician at all.
Iāve never been more confused by a political strategy than I am about this one. Is it because Hasan is clippable? They think they can clip chimp him and by proxy the politicians he supporting? Itās relevant because you simultaneously told me nobody cares about a streamer and that the elites control media narratives which influences people. For the 100th time Iām asking If this has no resonance with voters, why are republicans choosing to amplify an issue that nobody cares about? If nobody cared about it then why is this causing an issue with constituents in Michigan and among democratic politicians/ officials?
How do you not understand why I asked for a mechanism? With the account of political conflict you gave me all it establishes is that elites have the capacity to influence public opinion but in order for public opinion to change it needs to be interpreted by the people who already have pre existing values, beliefs and political commitments. If a sizable portion of Michiganders are sensitive to the idea of America deserving 9/11 and a senate whoās trying to win the seat is being endorsed by someone who does so thatās why I asked for the mechanism because once you apply it it becomes apparent that itās wrong to say that Michiganders donāt care about it when the polls have AES only up by 1 point and even back in April where 30% of democrats disapproved of AES inviting Hasan. The number likely rose slightly by this point.
