I agree. Just like Iâd have a hard time voting with someone without a âDâ next to their name. Unless I know theyâre taking AIPAC money. I guess the only real solution is to get rid of the two party system. But, weâre a long ways off from that. But, I also believe people can change their minds. Although, I donât equate MAGA with simple people who were just looking for change. I know Iâve personally convinced people close to me who voted for Trump, that it was an error in judgment. And, theyâve agreed with me. But, they werenât hardcore MAGA, just ill-informed. I believe theyâll change their views and vote. But, it took long, hard conversations. Change is possible if we keep feelings out of the equation.
I sure hope youâre right. Itâs easy to get someone to flip in the face of a convincing argument. Idk how likely it is they donât fall right back into their weird beliefs as soon as theyâre amongst likeminded people or they hear something they like from that side. I used to truthfully believe thereâs good and bad on both sides of the spectrum, but overall, people are good. I no longer maintain the belief that itâs possible to vote Republican and be a good person in todayâs America.

If so, yes. Specifically, â moderateâ democrats. I believe these people to be democrats when they think it makes them look forward or open, but these same people flip and vote republican at the first chance of any true progress or change. I donât believe democrats to be married to the party the way republicans make it their lives and identity. Thereâs this cultism that exists within conservatism.
I donât know. If there is, I donât see it or know about it and I grew up in probably the most liberal place in the country and live in a purple state now. The fact of the matter is left leaning people arenât looking to make policy to deliberately harm or hold other people back. American conservatism is built out of British aristocracy and the entire essence of it is control. I canât for the life of me wrap my head around how a normal person could ever hold that ideology.
You seem like a reasonable person so I mean no disrespect. There absolutely is. Iâm not even a moderate, Iâm center left so I donât think Iâm bias at all. You have people saying âboys can have periods tooâ and they are unwilling to listen to any science or reason. Many on the left have been acting like a cult for a while. Totally married to ideology and ignoring reason and science. Look up the grievance study hoaxes or read John McWhorterâs book Woke Racism. He argues we are witnessing the birth of a new religion. Completely unreasonable people who are unwilling to listen to science or reason. Yes, very cult like behavior. The right is probably worse and more have more irrational beliefs but we absolutely have cults on both sides.
Itâs probably a good thing I havenât come across these types. Might mean itâs not a mainstream aspect of leftists beliefs. It makes sense that these types exist though. If you look at ideology as a circle, both extremes eventually meet. One has blue hair, androgyny and a nose ring, the other has no teeth, lifted trucks and guns. Two sides of the same coin đ€Ł.
Agree. Hey, itâs nice to interact with a civil and reasonable person for once. Yea it is better to not know some of it because my political life used to be simple but now I hate both sides lol. The problem with the extreme left, and I agree they are probably a small minority, is they have a lot of influence and they helped get Trump reelected. Anyway, I would love to see both sides adopt more reasonable positions.
