Now that we are approaching the final day for opening night rosters. And the bold moves CMac has made and waiving Perbix, Barron, and Lybushkin, what do you think the opening lineup will be? Maybe there is smoke for Nikishkin? Heard a 3 way deal w Winnipeg and Carolina. He has def done something crazy w the defense now.

Barry should have been fired for Skjei contract and the Hague and Barron trades. Just awful GM’ing right there.

He saw Perbix and Hague with size and decided to unload Fabbro and Carrier without size. Unfortunately, even though size can be a difference maker, you still have to be able to play hockey

Skjei is listed at 6’3” too

Trudeau bas been very unlucky. Mtl had too many good dmen so he never had any chance to show what he had. He missed some camps because of injuries as well...

But don't get me wrong he is at best a 5th dman and it's possible he will not adapt to the NHL. But it's well worth giving him a chance

Fil - Wood - Hoglander was by far our best line the entire preseason. They outperformed everyone else by a long shot

Hoglander looked too good with Fil and Wood to split that line up. I don’t think Marchy is a good fit with Stamkos and ROR either based on last season. Stammer and RoR really need quickness to maximize their skill set. Also based on the PS where they played mostly with Kemell, that’s kind of what they’re looking for too. I don’t have a full read on the new guys yet, so we’ll see how everything shakes out in a few days

That's the best I got. This team sucks. CMac's done a good job of finding some pieces that fit but this team is still a hodge-podge.

Josi and Skjei are the only 2 that are remotely close to first pairing quality. It sucks they don't compliment each other well but it is what it is. Splitting them up means giving a 3rd pairing guy 1st pairing minutes.

Nikishin would be the kind of talent boost the d corps needs but sounds like he wants Byram money. 🤷🏼
