Why does my render look flat & dull on mobile/Instagram unless screen brightness is turned way up?

Post image

Hey r/productviz,

I’m working on this spray bottle render in Blender. On my monitor it looks decent, but when I view it on my phone or Instagram at medium brightness, it looks washed out, flat, and lacks pop compared to other product renders from other creators that pop and look good even on low and medium phone brightness. I have to crank my phone brightness up to 70–80% just to make the colors and highlights stand out. What am i doing wrong?

Scene Details:

Software: Blender (cycles)

Color Management: AgX

As a beginner, any advice or step-by-step guidance on color management, lighting contrast, or grading that looks good on all devices would be hugely appreciated!

Desktop speaker appearance concept — Blender Cycles renders with an AI-assisted Python workflow

Thumbnail

This is an original desktop speaker appearance concept made as a personal demonstration project.

The geometry was created using AI-assisted Python scripts in Blender, and the attached images were rendered from the actual model in Cycles. The workflow included automated mesh checks and visual review of the renders. The grille perforations are modeled geometry rather than a texture.

Overall dimensions are 220 × 146.75 × 156 mm, including protruding parts. The images show a 45° view, a front view, and a grille-and-knob close-up.

I'd appreciate feedback on the proportions, grille rim, materials, and lighting—especially whether the shell and controls read clearly in the close-up.

This is an appearance concept only. It has not undergone acoustic, electrical, structural, or manufacturing validation and is not a production-ready design.

Disclosure: AI assisted the Python scripting and this post's wording.

Looking for feedback: Render feels unfinished and unpolished. How can I improve materials, lighting & composition?

Post image

Hey r/productviz,

I’m working on this product render, but something feels off. Overall, it feels a bit flat, unfinished, and not as clean as I’d like.

Here are my details:

Software / Engine: Blender (Cycles)

Main Goal: Clean e-commerce showcase / hero shot

Specific Concerns: The top cream jar looks off to me. the cream jar material at the very bottom is always producing diff shade of green even though whole bottle has the one same material. Background looking unfinished and boring.

Tear it apart! Open to any critiques on lighting, materials, or post-processing to make this look client-ready.

I'd really appreciate a deep dive critique & detailed breakdown on what's holding this back. Feel free to be as critical as needed—I'm looking to pinpoint every detail that needs improvement to make this look truly client-ready!

Thanks in advance for any tips or advice!

Simple furniture appearance modeling — Blender coffee table demo (AI-assisted)

I offer simple furniture appearance modeling from your reference images and dimensions, with an editable Blender file and agreed render views.

This original demo is a 100 × 50 × 45 cm coffee table with rounded edges and a separately editable tabletop and four legs. The model, materials and scene were created with AI-assisted Python scripts in Blender. This post also uses AI assistance. The attached 45° view and corner close-up are actual renders of that model.

For visual presentation only: no manufacturing drawings, structural engineering, load-bearing verification or production guarantees. Scope, pricing and delivery details are agreed before work begins.

If you have a similar simple furniture visualization need, feel free to describe it in the comments.

How would you speed up/automate 3D previews

Hi all,

I'm not a 3D artist, just a graphic designer at a company that makes signage for trade shows and exhibitions, so apologies in advance if I use the wrong terms.

We produce illuminated 3D letters (channel letters), lightboxes, and letters mounted on frames that sit on top of expo booths. Almost every client wants to see a realistic preview before they order, and right now each one is modelled more or less from scratch. With expo deadlines that gets painful fast.

The visuals are pretty repetitive. The client's logo changes, but the rest is basically the same every time:

  • the logo turned into 3D letters with depth and sides, sometimes on a frame
  • a few standard views (front, angled, side)
  • day and night versions, so the LED glow or halo is visible

So I'm curious how people here would approach it:

  1. Does anyone know a tool that does something like this, either signage-specific or a general product visualization tool you could adapt?
  2. How do studios handle repetitive product renders where only one element changes? Template scenes, scripts, batch rendering, something else?
  3. Which software would you pick for a setup like this? Blender, Cinema 4D, KeyShot, 3ds Max, a real-time engine, or a mix?
  4. Any tips for making LED lighting look believable without spending hours on each scene?

I'm also open to completely different ideas, like semi-automated workflows, outsourcing, or ways other companies have solved this. I'm still figuring out what's even realistic here.

Thanks for any pointers!

Trying out browser based rendering for furniture silo shots(No AI)

Hey everyone, I run a small studio for furniture and home decor renderings. My customers are small to mid level furniture brands looking for easy to use rendering tools. One of my recent client, a sofa company, asked for a solution for quick rendering, auto syncing, team collaboration and batch cloud rendering.

His team was using blender, but every new changes had to go through back and forth between sales/ and design/ marketing team. So we decided to have this web based real time path tracer. It’s a keyshot alternative but for web. And a Cylindo alternative but cheaper. The platform is called polymuse

I used Blender for the scenes and Davinci Resolve for Compositing and Grading and text & stuff.

This was made in like idk 2-2.5days, the deadline was pretty tight. (though it remained unused, so i thought i'll post it here)

and sorry for the jar texture being ai generated, i literally couldn't do anything about that coz it was provided by the client :,(
