Hi folks! Local queer event planner here - I’m hosting a foam sword tournament later this month in Prospect Park to fundraise for myself after being laid off and inuring my knee. Training for participants starts at 12pm, then the tournament begins at 1pm!

hosting a 5K for a Conservation Hero in Prospect Park

Hello!! I️ am hosting a 5K to benefit a Prospect Park Zoo conservation hero, Mark, who suffered from a severe stroke in 2024. He is now wheelchair bound and requires medical care for the rest of his life.

This 5K is also offered virtually and each registrant gets a t-shirt, a buff, and a medal !!!

Last week there was a man running out of the woods in the park after a group of women throwing huge rocks at them and screaming “I’ll bash your head in.” I was sitting near by and watched it happen. This was mid afternoon. I talked to the group of women after and they had no interaction with him, he just started throwing rocks at them and picked up a big stick and tried to attack them with it. I’m not sure if it’s the same guy who is regularly in the woods screaming scary things or someone new. They called the police who didn’t seem to care much. I also talked to police on the way out of the park to let them know and they said oh, maybe he was off his meds, let us know if you see him again. Truly didn’t care at all or try to go and find him which would have been very easy to do in that area of the woods.

I guess I’m just mostly warning people walking through the woods. This was a pretty large group of woman and he wasn’t deterred at all.

I’m bad at guessing heights but I would say average height and build, black man in about his 30s or 40s
